Milan consider Amelia swoop

Milan look set to bid for Livorno goalkeeper Marco Amelia after Nelson Dida picked up an injury during the Champions League match with AEK Athens.

The Brazilian hurt his knee and was forced to leave the pitch before the end of the 1-0 defeat and there are fears that he could be sidelined for two months.

The latest Rossoneri injury in the defensive department forces Milan to reconsider their next market plans and could convince them to answer Amelia’s call.

The Italian International is keen to leave the Tuscan minnows with the San Siro his preferred destination, as confirmed by the player himself last week.

“I would like to move to Milan – I think this is normal because we are talking about one of the strongest clubs in the world,” Amelia had insisted.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti thanked Amelia for his availability, but was keen to stress that Milan are well catered for between the sticks.

“We want to thank Amelia, but Milan’s goalkeepers are Dida, Zeljko Kalac and Valerio Fiori,” he noted.

“His arrival in January is unthinkable. We are looking at various players on the market – not for the winter transfer window, but for next summer.”

If Dida’s injury is confirmed to be serious, the Via Turati outfit may contact Livorno, considering that Kalac’s performances in his Coppa Italia appearances have been far from impressive.

Even if Milan asks for Amelia, he wont come in till Jan, by then Kalac would have f@cked it up !!

I hope Milan can hold it together climb up the table w/o us conceeding (alot) .. Though I doubt it sad.gif

Considering all the hell we are going through to just score ONE goal, and the fact that Kalac will let in an average of 2 goals per game.

I see a dark future waiting for us unless we try and get Amelia at least in January, because we also have to consider the fact that because of the injury Dida's form will surely slip.

Premier move for Amelia?

Livorno President Aldo Spinelli has confirmed that goalkeeper Marco Amelia is being tracked by a Premiership outfit, thought to be Liverpool.

Milan are also reportedly interested as their current No 1 Nelson Dida will be out of action for at least two months after injuring his knee during the Champions League tie with AEK Athens.

“There is a chance that Amelia could leave in January,” said Spinelli as he entered the Lega Calcio offices on Friday.

“In any case, he will move only if we are offered a counterpart, otherwise we cannot let him go.

“The player has also received an interesting offer from a Premiership club to join them in June, but I will not confirm if it’s Liverpool. It may be an even more important outfit.

“Milan? I don’t think they have a goalkeeper to offer us,” stated the club official, although the Rossoneri might buy Stefano Sorrentino from AEK Athens and then use him in a swap deal.

The President is also adamant that he has no problem with Coach Daniele Arrigoni, despite the latter’s complaints about the constant criticism directed his way.

“I don’t always complain, I only try to motivate my squad because I am sure they can do even better than what I have seen so far.

“We should have three points more than we do, but I still believe we are strong in all departments,” concluded Spinelli, whose team will visit Reggina on Sunday

Amelia al Milan 'Fino a giugno non mi muovo'

14:39 del 28 novembre ::: calciomercato.com

I hope we just sign Amelia in the january and this won't be another saga

If Dida doesn't decide by January about what he is going to do, then we should buy Amelia in January, maybe if Dida has recovered by then we let him stay at Livorno till the end of the season. Then we will have to let go of Dida, I'm sorry all of us appreciate what he has done for us, (Old Trafford) but if he doesn't make his choice by christmas then we have to let him go.

Amelia wont be any good to us in the CL, cuz ( I think ) He has already been listed for UEFA cup, so if he is to come, then that would mean at the end of the season

1 player can be eligable as long as it is the UEFA cup he has played in not the CL
