Barry is at left back i think? from what i've seen he's pretty good and has a pretty good shot but i dont think he's played many games for england so unless he's had an amazing season i dont see how he would be a starter for england A. even tho ashley cole has been bellow average they'll probably start him for euro 08 qualifying matches IMO bridge should start at LB, he's been great everytime i've seen him and most chelsea fans think he should have start ahead of cole.

By the way, Emmanuel Eboue has signed a new contract with Arsenal, binding him for several years to come.

Nah, I'm a Villa season ticket holder and he's played left midfield 99% of the time, the other 1% was at centre midfield. So unless I've not been watching properly, he's not a left-back. 

Barry has had an amazing season for us. Won fans player and players player of the year, is easily as good as Wayne Bridge, but as usual since he doesn't play for the big 4, he won't even get a look.

Best left-footed English player so why don't we just play him at left-mid, our main problem. We'll never learn 

k i guess his natural position is LM, or maybe thats where villa need him most(thats is at LM), but during previous season he's played LB think and he played LB and LM for england in the same game (i belive against spain). thing is england have so many midfielders so i dont see how he would get a spot(a regular one that is) so the only position i see him starting is LB. hopefully he will get a shot tho.

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is looking to buy portugese full-back Vitorino Antunes.

The Portugaunder-21 international currently plays his football in his homeland for Pacos De Ferreira. O'Neill is looking to spend £750,000 on the player as a replacement for the departing Jlloyd Samuel.

I think there's only one person to ask with a bit of info on the Potugese league.

But he's very good and still very young (20). I'd say if he choses the correct club and league (maybe the EPL).
He's 1,75m and 70Kg so... average on that. But many people (I mean, a lot, even the papers) say he'll be the LB of the Portuguese NT in the future.

And from Paços de Ferreira (the 'Reading' of the Portuguese League) it would be a bargain.

Last time Villa bought a Portugese guy it was Fernando Nelson, he was Okay, nothing special though.

If you say he's good, and it seems like you know how well he plays and stuff, then he'd be  decent addition to our team. Would give Freddie Bouma some competition at left-back, too.

But yes, he'll be the LB of the NT in some years. Obviously if he signs for Villa he'd need time to adapt, just like Cristiano had in United.
Sometimes they adapt nicely, sometimes... not. But he's a very talented young guy for sure.

I hope he goes to Aston Villa, to the Premiership.

Carvalho signs Chelsea deal

Ricardo Carvalho has marked his 29th birthday by signing a new five-year contract with Chelsea.
The Portuguese defender has been an influential figure in the Chelsea back-line since joining from Porto in a £19.85million deal three years ago.

He was among Jose Mourinho's first signings at Stamford Bridge and has been linked with Spanish giants Real Madrid.

But Carvalho has now ended any doubts about his future by agreeing a deal to stay with the FA Cup finalists until 2012.

The centre-half has made 125 appearances for The Blues and has formed an effective partnership with John Terry in defence.

However, the pairing is unlikely to be in place for Saturday's FA Cup final at Wembley due to Carvalho's knee injury.

Carvalho admitted earlier in the week that he needs 'a miracle' to be involved against Premiership champions Manchester United.

His decision to commit his future to the club will be a boost as Chelsea look to persuade Terry and Frank Lampard to sign new contracts

HENRY SAYS AU REVOIR 

ARSENAL striker Thierry Henry has told team-mates he is leaving The Emirates this summer.

Henry is furious that vice-chairman David Dein, father of his representative Darren Dein, has left the club and it now seems the Frenchman has decided his own future lies elsewhere.

The Gunners captain met manager Arsene Wenger for showdown talks 10 days ago. He wanted to know who was in line to replace Dein in a director of football role and how long Wenger plans to stay in London.

Henry cannot have got the assurances he was after, however, as he has since told colleagues: “I’m off”.

The news will put Barcelona president Joan Laporta on red alert. Earlier this month, Laporta claimed to have agreed a £15million deal to sign Henry by letting slip in a speech at Stanford University: “I’m closing the signing of Henry.”

Arsenal had been planning for life with Henry after ordering him to return to training two weeks early in order to get fully fit for next term after an injury-plagued season in which he played 27 matches and scored 12 goals.

But his declaration that he is planning to leave could force Wenger to accept a bid of about £20m for the 29-year-old, who is also a long-term target for Real Madrid. Wenger considered his own future after his close friend Dein left the club and could go at the end of next season when his current contract runs out.

His recent demeanour has been described by club insiders as “extremely downbeat” and he is said to be frustrated at having to renegotiate player contracts and meet agents.

Chelsea got kicked out of the CL semi-final in Anfield and on penalties. Chelsea wasn't "owned" like United in San Siro... for example. Chelsea did a nice CL.

Again: if United had the same nº of injuries Chelsea had, they wouldn't be the champs.
