Is it about time we started to think of a replacement for Dida?

I've noticed over this calendar year he is starting to show his age, his reactions aren't as quick at many times and a few mistakes are creeping in.

So is it time to look for a young back-up goalkeeper that would be able to take the Brazilians place? If so who do you recommend.
Warchant
i disagree

dida is the man...honestly, i think the flare did something to his confidence infront of goal

if he did leave though, i would do everything i could to pick up petr cech from chelsea

I cannot believe people are questioning Dida? he can't save us singlehandedly every game as some seem to expect rolleyes.gif . He has got a dodgy back four in front of him-perhaps we should be changing that, actually we should change our manager first perhaps everyone's form will rise then.
m1ke
Dida's recent form hasn't been great, but then I can't think of many other keepers I'd rather have in goal.

The one thing that really annoys me about Dida is that he never really puts himself out to save the ball. Has anyone else noticed that? sad.gif

I'm pending the question, just because you have a difference of opinion does not mean you have to make silly little immature comments mad.gif

So Dida, oh yeah he did brilliantly against Inter and he really puts himself on the line to save balls in the area rolleyes.gif
xudong
Goalkeepers are like others, they have ups and downs. We should have more faith in him. Even if it did come to finding a substitute or backup for him, it is not easy to find a decent player to take his place (not to mention great ones). smile.gif

Right then for nearly three years Dida has been our keeper. In that time he has made numerous saves(inc penalty saves in the CL final, which helped us win it) and his form has been generally excellent. Recently his form has dipped(like some others) and you're thinking of who can replace him? good grief! rolleyes.gif
Sandro Nesta is having a dip in form-shall we replace him as well? thought not.

I seriously cannot believe that you would trade Dida in for someone else. IMO Dida is one of the top three keepers in the world, along with Cech and buffon, to let him go for a dip in form would be suicide. Stick with him and his form will return, with rest and recuperation I'm sure Dida will regain his form cool.gif
amancik
Dida has been quite lazy sometimes ... his reflexes is not like it used to be ...

Ok in this where does it say I think we should replace/trade him?

I was asking other people.

All I basically said was his form has dipped consideribly tongue.gif laugh.gif

Dida's form has been dipping recently, that's a fact...but the way to instill confidence in him is not replacing him...at least, not yet. Milan has larger problems to solve during the transfer window; getting a replacement keeper is unnecessary and will only hamper Dida's confidence.

Dida should focus more
dida should warn his diffenders

this is probably off-topic.

I read a news from a Chinese website that Abbiati is now almost Black and White, a brand-new zebra. When he was celebrating a victory with Juventus fans (last week), he was jumping and chanting in front of them and he invited all the fans to join him, what he said allegedly was: Jump with me! Celebrate with me! If you don't, you are a d@mn Rossoneri. rolleyes.gif

De Sanctis is good, but 28 years old. Can't Milan do like Real Madrid and pull out a good goalkeeper from the primavera or something tongue.gif
Maldini Master
If Milan buys a new goalkeeper he must buy.:

Gomes, PSV

I'm from Holland so I see him a lot playing just like in the CL he had awesome safes against Milan.

Italy has many good keepers, but it is ALWAYS hard to get one first-rate keeper to play as second-choice. because the role of keeper is very special, second-choice usually means zero minute. look at Abbiati.

this actually answers your other question. we found Abbiati from or Monza and signed him as our third keeper in 98-99. when he was given the chance (Lehman sent back to Germany and Rossi banned for five matches), he did some good jobs for us that season and for a few years that followed. if not for his bad luck (injury and tension with some Milan senior), he could still be our No. 1 by now.

but for now, I will take Dida before him, definitely.

He played fantastically against milan in all the four games. that was not easy. and I saw him in a few other matches, he is really not bad. he is still very young, so i expect room for his improvement.

Yeah, Gomes would be a great signing. But to sign him Dida must retire. He wont accept sitting on the bench. 24 years old right ?

he is also born in 1973. the same year as Dida. that could be seen as a problem. in my opinion, a substitute keeper, ideally, should be much older or much younger. so they either willingly accept the role on bench or hoping for the retirement of the first choice. biggrin.gif

Thats true, we dont know that. But taking him away from his first position in PSV to let him sit on the bench for almost a whole season. I dont think he would be happy with that. Otherwise i think he's a great goalkeeper and he would be a great signing. But Dida still has couple of years left, just afraid he wants to go to brazil.

every brazilian wants to go back to brazil to finish their career. Leonardo did it, and I just heard that Cafu turned down the renewel offer and wanted to hang his boots at Sao Paolo. (haven't confirmed it yet)

19 years old, GK of CSKA Moscow and Russia. He's only 19, and play on both (team and national) in the 1st eleven.

Would be a great add.

Gomes (PSV) is just great!

I had him replace Dida in my FM2006... and according to the FM stats, their "Reflexes" is same=20.. while Gomes' "Eccentricity=14" while Dida only score 6... laugh.gif
