I see hunger and determination to 'make it' in Patrick Cutrone.

I'd like us to finally find the next big Italian thing regarding strikers. It's a bit frustrating when you think of the long line of Milan-made players who never crossed that big line - Paloschi, Zigoni, Berretta, Petagna,...

Have been impressed with the preseason. He seems to have potential.

Hope he gets rid of the attitude though. At the end of a game against the Napoli primavera last year, he was...not well behaved. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vbdv8JWqQ-A

Haha. He's bloody-minded. Not a bad quality in a striker. tongue.gif

You misspelled his name. It's Patrick Crotone.

Per Montella's post-match comments, he's officially off the market.

Good to hear. I love the fight he shows. Definitely a bit raw still but I think he will be a great rotational player to have this year.

I really like the kid, I think he can be versatile as well

But do you guys think it's a good idea to keep him and leave him on the bench for the majority of the time? A striker like him needs to get a lot of minutes. Crotone (incidentally biggrin.gif) really want him on loan, which means they'd be playing him a lot.

I'd love to keep him for rotation, but what I'm asking is what would be best for him? Going out for a season and getting a lot of games or staying with us and integrating into the team slowly?

I think that depends on how much rotation Montella is going to have. Theoretically we could have a lot of games to cover if we go deep in the Europa League and Coppa. He would definitely get more playing time at Crotone but would it be better to get playing volume or for him to be well integrated and grow in this project? I think he and Silva could be good at super subbing for each other every other game but I'm not sure if that will work with Kalinic incoming.

Perhaps it's time to try this option out. We all expected that Paloschi or Beretta would probably benefit from loan deals but they've regressed. I'm not sure Crotone (a clear relegation side) is the ideal environment for Cutrone. It also depends on our transfer market position: new striker coming in or not.

But if we're gonna ship him out I'd prefer it to be a more ambitious and developmental destination. Like Sassuolo for example.

I'd say keep him. He gets some massive experience, he wouldn't at other places. Experiences in playing and training for 3 competitions etc.

Montella doesn't look like he's scared to start him in critical games against lower quality opposition. So all in all, I don't mind him not going out. Very few teams with good coaching setups where I'd like to see him. Maybe Atalanta under Gasp?

I have less fear about our options up front now.

Two all-round workers and modest scorers in Silva and Kalinic. One pure goalscorer and terrier in Cutrone. And Work Work Work from Borini.

It's not Hollywood nor the level we expected but it could work out after all.

Yup. If our goal is CL spots, I think we have enough to make a dash at it barring catastrophic injuries of course. It might actually be easier to attract a striker with CL to play for than this season.

Yeah, Atalanta would be the best place if you want a young player to flourish

True, I think all 3 would make good combos plus they can all play alone upfront.

If Juve could win a title with Matri and Quagliarella...

Just really think we need someone for that LW though, our left side is really weak compared to our right

No doubt about that

But Juve won that scudetto when the real challengers were only us. And we f***** up big time in the end. In the current league Juve would never win the title with Matri and Quagliarella.

True, but just saying that it can be done if you win enough games 1-0

They still had a very good defence and midfield, which is something we have imo

Really? They had what, Vidal, Pirlo, Marchisio, who else? I don't think we're even near that kind of overall level.

Let's not forget that that was Vidal's first season there and no one knew how he would explode. Pirlo was coming off a so so year with injuries and being bench for a big chunk of games (nice one Allegri)

We now have Kessie who looks like the real deal to me so far, Biglia is great and much better defensively than Pirlo. Hakan and Bona with Loca and Monto as back up is pretty good imo. No one would have guessed how that Juve midfield would click. It all depends on if our midfield can find that same chemistry as well

Also, Juve had Barzagli coming off a bad season from Germany, Bonucci who had so far under performed terribly at Juve since his Bari days (Ranocchia was still considered the more talented defender at that point) and Chiellini who also hadn't really amounted to much of anything

Conte really pulled them all together and made them into an unbeatable unit. Do I think Montella can elevate us that far? Not really but he's a good coach imo who has always gotten the best out of his teams, so I'm hopeing he can do just half of what Conte managed and we'd be good to go
