Injury update:

Milan's press officer Giuseppe Sapienza makes it clear that Zlatan will also see the Cesena match from the stands.

- He trains separately from the team. We think he can train with us as usual in three or four days, Sapienza says to Fotbollskanalen.se.

Instead, it's likely his comeback will be against Juventus on October 2, or in the Champions League meeting with Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday.

- Zlatan is still in treatment and we hope to get him back as soon as possible. But it won't be for this weekend's match. If we are lucky, he can jump in the last 20 or 25 minutes in Plzen, says Sapienza.

QUOTE
Milan ace Zlatan Ibrahimovic has raised doubts about his future in the game. “Football was everything to me, but now I’m interested in other things.”

Speaking candidly, the striker said that he would continue to play on for a while, but hinted that he’s already thinking about retirement.

"Before football was everything to me,” stated the 2010 signing from Spanish giants Barcelona.

“I did not think about anything else and sometimes I didn’t even go to school so that I could play. Now it is not like that, I'm interested in other things.

“It even takes a great deal of effort for me to play football with my kids in the garden – I now leave it to the babysitter.”

The former Juventus and Inter star turned 30 on Monday and he’s admitted that he’s finding it tough to defeat the sands of time.

“With age you have to care for yourself more,” he added. “When I was young, if I felt any pain or had any problems then I could still shoot at goal from 40 metres away.

“That’s not the case today. I have to take great care in my warm up before even kicking a ball. I’m getting old.

"I'm not kidding about my situation. I hate to say it, but I don’t have the same determination as I had before and I enjoyed myself a lot more a few years ago.”

Ibra almost went as far as saying that he’s actually getting bored of the game.

"Today everything has become routine even though I still enjoy it, but you won’t see me playing with white hair and I won’t play on until the verge of destroying myself.

“I won’t be retiring soon, I’ll play on for a while, but I want to retire when I am still at the top. That might not happen, but that is my objective.”

The man sounds depressed ;o.

He should focus on the game and Milan. We need him now.

But simply said, speaking from the heart, I hate this guy. If he caves now, I'll loose most of the remaining respect he's got with me.

Well it seems that 'ol dru wasn't too far off when ge said that this guy is nothing but a bad tempered cancer. Thanks for the scudetto help and all last season but go f**k off to real Madrid now. I have no doubt you'll miraculously rediscover your love for the game there (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)

A really? So,last season he was the leader for the team, scored good amount of goals and assists. He also gave his teammates self belief that they could win, where do you think the winning mentality came from,Allegri? And he's bad cancer?Without him, were reduced a lot.He showed that he can create play, score goals, and work for the team,he spit blood for the team.He is egotistic? So what, most of us but most are insecure about it.So you should stop embarrassing yourself please. You weren't right after all.

Let's play it down. Dru, I don't think this interview will suffice to fully back your theory up; besides, we need the guy now that we have him, you must accept it.

On the other hand, I'm not buying that thing about everyone being egoistic but only a few having the courage to show it. As long as the world will have their Maldini's and Baresi's, I'll always be on their side and down to players like Ibra.

I prefer to deal with the FACTS:
1) Since joining Inter, EVERY team iBra has played for has failed spectacularly in most big games, esp in Europe. Every team he’s left since has done well with a more team integrated approach
2) He is a violent player. Whitewash it all you want but it’s part of the reason the referees sort of ignore him these days when he gets fouled…kind of how legitimate penalties aren’t given to Pippo because of his diver history
3) His mentality is one of an ambitious player no doubt but is not tempered with humility or compassion. Screaming incessantly for the ball and declaring BS things like “pass ME the ball more and we’ll win” (paraphrasing) does nothing for the team spirit or morale. Other nonsense like the “I prefer Pippo to the Brazilians” etc come to mind
4) The whole “iBra is our leader” thing is VASTLY overrated. ALL of our strikers scored 14 league goals and his CL exploits were mediocre. Not only this but he completely disappeared in the second half of the season. Our leaders were NESTA and Silva THEN iBra and Robinho/Pato.
5) Getting older. Is 30 now and fast becoming ANOTHER OLD SLOW, HIGHLY paid player
6) Nice to see his “I’m losing motivation” comments being rationalized away by the groupies (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) . If most anyone else said the same they would have been called “spoiled”, “mercenary” etc etc But as iBra is a forum darling of sorts he gets a free pass. Again, kicking Strasser in training, the fight with Onyewu and the continued animosity towards Pato have all been swept under the rug in exchange for his game winning performances before Christmas.
7) Allegri is at his laziest and worst with iBra on the field. We become a poor man’s version of the old Printer where the team forms a wall behind iBra, and with 0 creativity in hand, expect him to BE the offense (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)

Even with all of the above ssid he IS a champion and does bring a lot of positives to the team. With Pato failing to be as consistent as we need he is our best striking option atm. Who needs to be ERADICATED is Allegri (IMG:http://www.milanfan.com/forums/style_images/bullet/folder_post_icons/icon8.gif)

I'm with you dru, all valid points resepectively. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) People like Ibra are kn own as enigmas - you either love 'em or hate 'em. There isn't a center point for them. I also agree with your final analysis, that he does bring a lot of positives to the team (which unsurprisingly is a must for a player of his calibre and payscale). So that's that, I guess.

I disagree

1) i do think Inter and Barca's treble had littlw to do with the lack of Ibra... Granted Inter got better, but they had mourinho making the whole team attack and defend and also they got eto'o practically for peanuts, which helped.

2) I would say he defends himself, sometimes to a fault but i would not say he is violent like Cana or anything. I do honestly believe he is a tough guy and not violent by nature as you make him out to be. Hell, even pato was pushing and showing last game he played and i'd hardly consider him a goon... Hell i've seen rAmbro blatantly and viciously foul players and he is the team captain...

3) God forbid he should speak his mind.... Granted sometimes it does cause a controversy, again, to a fault but is he really that far off? Even our cocky Swagdorf knows deep down inside Ibra is 85% of our offense atm. I kind of like that sincerity about him, the same way i like Zeman's honesty. Football needs some off-color stars that don't necessarily think they are richer, better looking and smarter then everyone. I am 1 who honestly believes if we gave him the ball more we can win more...

4) Ibra was our leader because while we were playing like **** at the beginning of the season last year, he was getting all these wondergoals against the grain of play. Surely i wasn't the only one to think he saved our as$ess on more then one occasion...

5) i think grouping Ibra, arguably the best CF in the world, with the likes of Rino, Ambro and Seedorf is truly an example of a false equivalency (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) ... Surely you must to...

6) this speaks plenty of the squad, coaches then it does him being lazy. you can hate the comments all you want but you can't tell me with a straight face that Seedorf, ambro and rino have the same motivation. We have seen, especially in Serie A, old-timers prolong their careers with hard work and conditioning, i doubt the 3 aforementioned musketeers give a **** about keeping in shape to compete. He says it, and yes he probably means it, but i do think when he will retire, I for one will cherish the moments he had here and not think of it as a taint to a truly legendary career. Besides...winning heals all woes.

7) " Allegri is at his laziest and worst with iBra on the field." your going to have to explain this to me, i was not aware ibra stupefied Allegri...

I can never genuinely this guy but I'm grateful for what he's done for us. as long as he opts to stay, I'll support him. but I don't think I'll miss him the day he leaves. even if that means he will take away his league-winning mojo with him.
