I hoped this place would have changed, still some weird obsession with Allegri.

Oh and if any of you guys think Juve weren't giving their all and didn't want to win this badly, think again

I don't see this as the write off you guys are making it out to be, it's another official title for us

The idea that a bunch of top class professionals didn't try in a Cup final is pretty laughable. Juve's players are born winners, they've won so much and they hate losing. Even more so to one of the historical rivals like Milan.

If you seriously thought Juve didn't care about winning - look at their reaction to the handball incident at the end. Players who don't care don't react in such a way.

Yeah, not the most important trophy, but winning breeds confidence which breeds more winning.

I thought we deserved the win overall. Suso was exceptional, while Bacca's was really awful and at this point I'd happily cash in on him as his effort and end product just hasn't been there for a while.

Anyone watching the Rome derby? And do you know why the Olimpico is 2/3 empty while hosting such a big game?

Roma fans are boycotting. Something to do with being fined for their flags, barriers put up in the Curva's and stuff like that.

Last season Lazio fans did the same and the stadium was basically empty.

QUOTE (Jack Sparrow @ Nov 29 2016, 07:50 AM) *
The bolded part rings true. Yet it doesn't concern me. It's how some of the best teams around are being built without huge cash reserves. Take the example of Atletico Madrid,Liverpool, Leipzig and the club that started it all - Dortmund.

The concept of a team whose entire drive is derived from the manager, yet have no outstanding players/champions of their own. Being greater than the sum of its parts.

Leipzig were one of the highest spenders in Germany this summer and Liverpool have spent roughly 400m since 12/13.

I tend to side with Fillipo on this and it's very much a modern day thing. A team has a small spell of success and suddenly they're one of the best clubs in the World. The same goes for players, people are already throwing ridiculous labels around for Donnarumma despite him having not played 50 games in his career. It's just the modern obsession of having to label everything and throw superlatives around.

Dortmund and Atletico are good examples of this. Dortmund won a couple of titles domestically, but outside of 1 good CL season did nothing else - including a group exit in a pretty weak group. Atletico won 1 title, but have fared better in the CL. But the fact is, to be a success you have to have success. Being the 2nd best team and usually finishing 2nd isn't success. Being the 3rd best team and usually finishing 3rd isn't success. I wouldn't call Roma and Arsenal successful for winning a few trophies but usually finishing in their standard league positions.

Fabrizio Romano: William Carvalho has been proposed to Milan and Juve by his entourage. He has a 45m release clause, but Sporting could listen to offers of 35m.

I'm guessing he'll end up at Juve, but I would love this. Probably the biggest reason, alongside Ronaldo, as to why Portugal won the Euros. He's a monster.

Weird, because he saluted them with a huge fist pump after we beat Juve?

I think Donna was as gutted as the rest of us that his manager's mistake basically cost us the win. I wouldn't read too much into it.

It's almost as if one game he made a last second save to win the game, and the other he conceded a 92nd minute goal.

On the other hand, Fabregas never was or will be half of the player Bastian is/was. But yes, I get your point.

In the past, yes. But currently? Bastian at his best won't be as good as Cesc at his worst.

I'll take a shot at it:

1. Luiz Adriano
2. Keisuke Honda
3. Andrea Poli
4. R. Ely
5. L. Vangioni
6. M. Pasalic
7. J.Sosa (?)

The last one is a long shot, since we just got him in.

But yeah, I don't think these names have a future in the club. They'll probably be gone in the winter or the summer. I don't think a mass exodus will do us good. It will leave us with a very tiny squad.

1. Honda
2. Honda
3. Honda
4. Honda
5. Honda
6. Honda
7. Honda

He's got the awfulness of 7 players.

According to English media, Milan are ready to offer 25m for Erik Lamela.

I imagine it would be laughed off. He's started 9 of 12 games and appeared in all 12. They aren't going to take a loss on an important first XI player. If we offered 40m, they would maybe consider it.

I'm all for a well rounded squad that has a diverse skillset, but Eder and Pelle epitomise mediocrity. And teams couldn't "cope" with them? Hardly...

As for Verratti, he might have made the mistake that let Macedonia back into the game, but he redeemed himself after that and was the driving force for Italy's comeback. Candreva was good as well, but Verratti made all the key moments happen

Not to mention Immobile's energy and constant movement in the second half was a constant problem for Macedonia.

I couldn't possibly disagree any more than I do on any of the above points to be honest.

Sometimes it's about getting the most well rounded team, though. Pelle and Eder worked really well together and no team really knew how to cope with them as a duo.

Should Veratti be dropped now? He was easily Macedonia's best player, and Italy had to be saved by the awfully mediocre Candreva. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

So the 85 MM might not be for the club right? How much of it is money that is being paid to Finninvest for the club?

Dream Mode On: Veratti + Thiago Silvo + Isco.

Dream Mode Off: Milan Badelj + Isco (on loan) OR John Obi Mikel

Mikel would be a little bit of a worry for me. I think he's at the point where he would be a downgrade for our bench.

I hear you. But do a simple contrast between Niang last season and Niang this season. I see a simple parallel. One season at Genoa. Second season at Milan, where player shows huge improvement, but is clearly not a finished product. Third season, huge improvements and becomes a critical cog.

I think it's easy to forget this guy is still only 21. Years ago people were writing him off, it was madness.

A huge no to Depay. I've not seen much of him in Holland, but from his time in England: Lazy, bad attitude, huge ego, lack of quality. Not particularly things I want here.

Sometimes things are more about the sum of the parts rather than the individual pieces. Eder, Pelle and Parolo were sensational against Spain at the Euros. Though I find you very narrow minded in your thinking towards player quality in general.

We're going to have to thread careful for now, at least until we establish ourselves as a CL team again. It's not going to be easy attracting top players instantly so at certain points we'll have to settle. But I don't think Fabregas is a big compromise. He's a great player and would elevate out midfield to the next level

Agreed. Fabregas is still class, he just plays for a team that's been struggling for nearly 18 months or so now. Our midfield has lots of effort, but lacks a little in quality and he would change that.
