Here we go for another 3 crucial points...
Posted by: rhy_A4 Feb 25 2008, 05:30 PM
Please let Gourcuff play again !!
Posted by: Tennie Feb 25 2008, 05:36 PM
Hopefully this time in Catania, we'll get a better result than we did during the Coppa game.
Kaka is out for sure.
In today's training, Seedorf did specialized work, Kalac resumed normal training along with Offredi and Fiori, and Il Capitano trained with the group. As is usual for training the day after a game, those who played the full 90 worked in the gym.
Posted by: Nova Feb 25 2008, 05:46 PM
I expect a really hard game. All of our games are must wins !!
0-1 is good enough for me (also less highlights to upload)
Posted by: han2503 Feb 25 2008, 06:30 PM
Carlo said that the will rotate the team, so I'm expecting something like this
Cafu--Bonera--Kala--Favalli
--Emerson--Pirlo--Brocchi--
-------------Yaonn------------
----------Pato--Gila----------
I don't think Seedorf will be ready, so Yoann in behind the strikers

I hope we get a win so we can rest players on saturday since the Arsenal game is on tuesday. I hope Gila and Gourcuff start both games, if Gourcuff can't get a start with Kaka and Seedorf injured...

I think Yoann will be given another chance on Wednesday, I don't even think Sergio is fit enough, was he even on the bench against Palermo?

I kind of expect this lineup as well although he may start with Janku and Oddo and rest them against Lazio, we'll see.

That's what I thought he would do before Carlo said he was going to rotate the players in this match.
As for Yoann, we need him in this game especially since without him our only creative outlet is Pirlo and he hasn't been so hot either these last few games.
If Seedorf is back then I'm sure he'll take his place in the starting line up behind the strikers

Sergio just might, but I'm not sure if he's match-fit. They might put the kid in attack, or at least take him down to Sicily.
For what it's worth, here's Gazzetta's probable lineup:
Kalac
Oddo
Bonera
Kaladze
Maldini
Gattuso
Pirlo
Ambrosini
Gourcuff
Gilardino
Pato
Posted by: Darunia Feb 26 2008, 02:12 AM
They should start Paloschi, he's done well against Catania
Gazetta's lineup makes sense. Maldini will prob play this one so he can rest for Lazio and be ready for Arsenal.
Posted by: Tennie Feb 26 2008, 02:13 AM
Hrm. That'd be interesting to see, Paloschi and Pato. Prolly won't happen at least this seaon, but...the 'team of old men' with two 18 year olds as the striker pairing. Makes me giggle.

You're right! it'd be really interesting to see Palo and Pato play in front. it might work perfectly!

In the 'today's training' article on acmilan.com (http://www.acmilan.com/NewsDetail.aspx?idNews=62573), a couple of interesting notes.
Seedorf trained regularly with the group, but a whole bunch of players trained separately in the gym: Kakà , Dida, Serginho, Nesta, Pirlo and Jankulovski.
EDIT:
Here are the call ups:
PORTIERI: Fiori, Kalac, Offredi
DIFENSORI: Bonera, Cafu, Digao, Favalli, Maldini, Oddo, Simic
CENTROCAMPISTI: Ambrosini, Brocchi, Emerson, Gattuso, Gourcuff, Seedorf
ATTACCANTI: Gilardino, Inzaghi, Pato, Paloschi
I hope that Pirlo is just being rested.
Darunia, it looks like there's hope! The kid's been called up!
Posted by: Jack Sparrow Feb 26 2008, 01:18 PM
Looks like Carletto's been hanging around the forums lately. Somebody checked the new members? Anyone from Italy?

Then rest Pippo, Pato, Seedorf, Rino, Paolo and Oddo against Lazio.

Pirlo had to be rested!
I hope to see Pa-Pa up front!!
Posted by: Tennie Feb 26 2008, 03:08 PM
Carletto's pregame press conference is up on acmilan.com (http://www.acmilan.com/NewsDetail.aspx?idNews=62590)
Highlights include:
*Carletto thinks, but isn't positive, that Kaka should be back for the Arsenal game.
*Kaladze, Pirlo and Jankulovski are exhausted and deserve a rest.
*Nesta should be available for Saturday's game v. Lazio.
*Seedorf is availalbe and may start or may come off the bench.
*(quote) "Borriello? I honestly didn't expect it, but he's demonstrating his quality. He could play in any squad, including Milan. He's a complete striker, has an eye for goal, has technique....We're following Borriello as well as Ricardo Oliveira."
Posted by: han2503 Feb 26 2008, 03:51 PM
QUOTE (mishale @ Feb 26 2008, 12:49 PM)
----------Kalac
Oddo Bonera Paolo Favalli
--Rino Emerson Seedorf
---------Gourcuff
------Pippo----Pato
Then rest Pippo, Pato, Seedorf, Rino, Paolo and Oddo against Lazio.
Switch Seedorf and Yoann.
I think Seedorf does better further forward and Yoann further back. He wasn't particularly effective behind the strikers on Sunday. And We've seen him have his best games when he plays in that central left area of the pitch next to Pirlo and Rino
I'm just hoping he'll get another chance tomorrow and that he can build on that assist
Posted by: Darunia Feb 26 2008, 07:55 PM
"Seedorf is fine, he is available, now we must see if he is ready for the bench or not." - Makes it sound like Seedorf will start from the bench but who knows.
Channel4 probable formation: Milan (probable): Kalac; Oddo, Bonera, Maldini, Favalli; Brocchi, Emerson, Ambrosini, Seedorf; Pato, Inzaghi
I expect that only Gourcuff in for Seedorf and maybe Ambro being rested.

Catania seem vulnerable to counter attacks, and wide play. I want Inzaghi swapped for someone with better first touch and is quicker. I would like to see Sergio or Jank come on for width, as Favali contributes nothing to attack. His DF is okay though

Ridiculous, esoecially after conceeding and not showing any type of reaction to it whatsoever.
Carlo bringing on Rino instead of Yoann was ridiculous, and this is against Catania here!!!!
Something needs to be done, and that should start with replacing the coach starting next season. No ideas, no sense of edventure, starting with 4 defencive mids against Catania? Come on!!!!!!!!!

i think he shouldve brought on Gourcuff and maybe rested Gattuso , i heard Brocchi didnt take it to well when he got subed
, now we are 5th again its going to be a battle until the end of the season could be very close if we dont capitalize on these kind of games but we have had trouble with this team in particular in the past i didnt expect them to roll over as they have beaten us before so that gave them confidence.

I'm not counting on that, I actually see Arsenal going through. We might have done it last season playing like cr@p against Celtic but we aren't going to pull off that kind of cr@p against a much better, faster team that we can't keep up with
Especially considering the fact that our most vital players are playing p!ss poor and/or coming from injury.
QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ Feb 27 2008, 09:32 PM)

Atleast he would have been a much better choice then Rino who did nothing different to our game. Carlo just needs to go, I think all of us have had enough of his cr@p.
Even with the team we went out with today we should have won against Catania, I don't think we even had a game plan, just punt the ball r cross it in and see what happens. And the constant backward passing in midfield was just indicator enough of how devoid of ideas we are
Posted by: KillerMax Feb 27 2008, 10:42 PM
We're struggling against Catania... And we could only get a draw with he ref's help. He was obviously favoring us all game and disallowed two good goals.
Why doesn't Carlo try something like this:
------------Kalac-------------
Oddo Bonera Maldini Favalli
----------Ambrosini----------
------Emerson Gourcuff-----
------------Seedorf-----------
---------Pato Inzaghi---------
Ambrosini is obviously being played out of position... And what the hell was Brocchi's job on the field? Did Ancelotti give him a free role or was a "defensive winger"?
What the hell is Ancelotti thinking approaching these games with so much caution and lack of ideas....
Posted by: dst Feb 27 2008, 10:43 PM
In my opinion, Gattuso had to come on and we worked a lot better defensive-wise when he did but Gourcuff had to be introduced as well in Ambro's place.
Maldini 1000 + 2
-------------------
Kalac 6.5
Bonera 6
Cafu 4 / Oddo 5
Favalli 5
Ambro 6
Seedorf 6
Brocchi 3 / Gattuso 5.5
Emerson 6.5 When this happens you know you've played bad.
Pato 7.5
Pippo 4 / Gila 5

It's even painful to watch a Milan match nowadays.
But that's not a surprise looking at our poor squad. In fact we don't have a squad. We've a good XI and 1 or 2 good subs, nothing more.
That's why we can't compete on CL and Serie A at the same time. If each of our XI players were 5 years younger... then maybe. Now? Impossible.
Posted by: rhy_A4 Feb 27 2008, 10:45 PM

If Milan fans from Italy don't take it in their hands, I'll sell my car and buy a ticket to Milano and a machine gun and will kill that motherfu**er, called Anchelotti!
Instead of bringing Gourcuff in, only for the idea that he is a offensive player, he bring Gattuso! Starting with 3 defansive players including that piece of s*it Ambrosini and bringing in Gill who was no where to be seen when he entered game... Now, I don't this will go on, but if nothing is going to be changed in future, I'll have to watch the Milan games from prison!!!

No other option? what is Yoann then? I know he's nowhere near Kaka or Turtle, but when we want to attack, he'll be more useful than Brocchi. I just have no idea what's going inside his head... he COULD have played Pato as a trequartista! believe me! it's not worse than playing with three defensive midfielders! it's clear we lacked creativity in the middle... though I didn't see the match but I know what I'm talking about. it's the 129836346394th time we experience this problem...

Well guys, Massimino (stadium) of Catania was never a happy place for Milan and always a difficult one (although we didn't played agains them in the years when we were the best - Sacchi era, Capello era and 3-4 years ago when we played best football with this squad ). In fact last win in Catania for Milan was in 1964 when we won 1-0 with a goal from Altafini.
From then we met Catania in Serie A 6 times (including tonight)... and guess what... all of the results were draws 1-1 (except one 0-0):
13 MAGGIO 2007: CATANIA- MILAN 1-1 (36' GIORNATA - STAGIONE 2006/2007)
12 FEBBRAIO 1984: CATANIA- MILAN 1-1 (19' GIORNATA - STAGIONE 1983/1984)
25 APRILE 1971: CATANIA- MILAN 0-0 (27' GIORNATA - STAGIONE 1970/1971)
16 GENNAIO 1976: CATANIA- MILAN 1-1 (17' GIORNATA - STAGIONE 1975/1976)
24 GENNAIO 1965: CATANIA- MILAN 1-1 (18' GIORNATA - STAGIONE 1964/1965)
So you see that tonight result is no surprise especialy if you look in what form we are right now and the fact that we were playing without Nesta, Kaka, Pirlo, Kaladze and Jankulovski (especialy the first three).
On the other hand there are 13 more rounds to go...
Next is Lazio and this is a must win game at home, because we must take advantage of the game Juventus:Fiorentina (wors case IF we win and Fiora wins, we will still be 5th, but we will be 3 points behind Juve and 2 behind Fiorentina).
FORZA MILAN!!!
Posted by: bigmacmtl Feb 27 2008, 11:28 PM
i dunno just back and dint see the game. 3 def mids again? did gourcuff play? cuz i'm sure he dint. does carlo learn at all? who assisted on the winning goal last game, cuz everyone was praising pippo for the goal but hey who put that cross on his head?
anyways i have to laugh at some of these reactions that were surprised at the way milan played today. for the better part of 2 years milan have played poorly against everyone, and especially against small sides. dont get this confused with milan in the past having trouble winning against small sides. no milan have outright stunk even against the regelation battling teams. is this result isnt surprising at all.
not only is QUALITY lacking, but i dont see any winning mentality in the way they play.
disturbing really...

honestly i couldn't care less about inter cuz in the end all i care about is milan. now using this situation as a barometer. milan are barely good enough for 4th, and inter whether you think is the best team i italy or not is miles ahead of milan and teams outside italy can beat inter it goes to show how poor milan is... it's scary really.
even if we get past arsenal. does suddenly mean were fine?
one result and were cured? it's a culmination of results over the past 2 seasons that indicate how much we lack.
anyways this isnt directed at you personally but what i wanted to say stems from what you said.

It's much more amazing than you describe it. He plays in a painfully slow and defensive-minded team and gets much less support than he should. Had he been with us 3 years earlier he would even have a chance to get close to the 30 goals mark Don Silvio talked about...

I can't believe that any coach in the world would be satisfied with this squad. It just can't be true. It's just the policy of the Milan board of the last two seasons that has led us here. I hope this will change in the summer.

It's much more amazing than you describe it. He plays in a painfully slow and defensive-minded team and gets much less support than he should. Had he been with us 3 years earlier he would even have a chance to get close to the 30 goals mark Don Silvio talked about...
His future, my friend, is bright...

I can't believe that any coach in the world would be satisfied with this squad. It just can't be true.
You think why is Carlo so much loved by Galliani?

Upon seeing the game, it was just.. dull. There just seemed no spark or desire by either team to go out and win it. We got a great goal from Pato, but fell to sleep right after scoring, this is not what experienced defenders should be doing!
We can't afford to drop more points against Lazio, hopefully it'll be something like the game between us at the Olimpico!

We couldn't beat Catania in both league games this season (and I'm not even mentioning the Coppa). This season is so pathetic. We are losing to all these small teams like Empoli at home and drawing with the likes of Catania all the time and getting used to it. I'm not even angry anymore. It has became a routine

Very true. It's like playing the same old music for the 100000th time

Ancelotti demands focus
February 28 2008, 8:13:24Carlo Ancelotti has demanded that AC Milan stop throwing away valuable points.
The Rossoneri coach saw his side squander a 1-0 lead at Catania to end up drawing 1-1 in Sicily.
The result meant that the European champions slipped out of the final Champions League berth, two points behind Fiorentina.
The 48-year-old said: "We wasted an opportunity here, as we took the lead and were unable to then secure an important result.
"We allowed ourselves to be taken by surprise on their equaliser which was disappointing.
We aren't sharp enough at the moment." Despite their inconsistent form, which has seen the San Siro giants draw three out of their last five outings, the form of Alexandre Pato has been one major positive point.
The Brazilian was on target at the Massimino stadium and Ancelotti claimed: "Pato's goal was world class."
The 18-year-old sensation, who only burst on to the Serie A scene in January, has already scored five goals from eight appearances
to make him the team's third-top goalscorer. In the picture, Alexandre Pato in the build-up to his goal at Catania
Only with the Alexandre Pato-Ricky Kaka tandem will AC Milan finish in a top-four position. What do you think?http://www.seriea.tv/NewsDetails.asp?articolo=1169
If I were Ancelotti I'd stop making demands, and start fielding more attacking formations. I mean Favalli, Brocchi, Emerson, Ambrosini in the same line up should be classified as a crime - particularly against teams like Catania.

If he was asked why he didn't field a different team for league games, he'd probably come up with some crappy excuse about how the players get tired playing so many games. What he doesn't realise is that Inter, United, Madrid, etc. all have to play the same amount of games as us at the moment, if not more.

We need more Attack Minded Players..Just look at Barcelona, Man u, chelsea, Real Madrid and even Inter Milan...Sometimes i get really jealous of this teams especially barcelona..Only Kaka and Pato puts fear into other teams..SEEDORF IS ON AND OFF..I know we world champions but we cannot be playing with the same context anymore..We need people that can hold on to the ball and make defense quivver. AC Milan needs a lot of things. We need help!! From Rikaard's point of view and Ancelotti's point of view, it is really different. We also need good replacements. Our bench compared to other benches in other teams is crap. Sell the old players on d bench or let them retire or something.I'm tired of keeping this in my mind..Just felt i should let ya'll know!!

Then for Pete's sake play the other players in the squad: Gorcuff, Simic, Paloschi, Bonera, instead of slow and old legs. If you have to draw against mid-table teams, then I'd much rather draw with younger players - at least they'll gain something from this. Leave the
tiring players for important matches.

Seedorf should only play ten games at max in the league per season: only against the top five clubs. The chance he squandered in this match early in the game was only because of his slow movement. And that proved critical in the end. Just because you're
unique and have won 4 Champion Leagues with different clubs doesn't make you an automatic starter:

LOL! is that fvcked up fork Seedorf?

. o O (But dst would say that its @ss isn't big enough!)
I'm thinking that in retrospect it's a good thing I didn't have a chance to watch this game. Pretty dire all round.

Lol, yeah. At least in Seria A against smaller teams.
