OK, I don't have anything particular on my mind right now, I'll just copy-paste some stuff from acmilan.com and... here we go!

QUOTE
TEDESCO: 'We can beat Milan'- Palermo's official website reports the declarations made by Palermo midfielder Giovanni Tedesco ahead of the match against Milan on Sunday at San Siro: "We have the strength to win next Sunday on Milan's pitch, I'm sure of that. Certainly we will go to San Siro with the desire to get the three points. Among the Rossoneri I fear Kaká, they are all great champions but the Brazilian often makes the difference."

QUOTE
There are no suspended players for next Sunday's match, neither for Milan nor Palermo. There are some cautioned players. Milan have two: Flamini and Kaladze. Palermo have three: Bovo, Kjaer, and Liverani.

---

Forza Milan cool.gif I'm going to forget all the disappointments of this season and cheer the team from now on. hopefully the problems will be solved. it's better to think this way...

Posted by: Tennie Apr 22 2009, 03:05 PM

Fishdoll thanks zeddie for opening the thread!

We'll get a chance to see Kjaer up close and personal at this one.

Posted by: dst Apr 22 2009, 03:06 PM

Yup this is a big test for Kjaer... which I hope he fails cause I've missed seeing Pato score!

Posted by: Jack Sparrow Apr 22 2009, 03:07 PM

The problems are well documented, and if all the paper rumours are right, Carlo's had enough and told the board to either cut bait or go fish. I hope to God that Galliani's 'affection' for Carlo shows in the transfer window.

Supposedly Carlo's asked for 2 purchases in defence and one forward.

Palermo's a good team. I hope we play well. But we have been blindingly inconsistent this season, so I really can't say that a smash and grab win would disappoint me. To lose this match would put a lot of pressure on us.

Here's Mediaset's early guess at a starting lineup:

Milan (4-3-1-2): Dida; Zambrotta, Senderos, Maldini, Jankulovski; Beckham, Pirlo, Ambrosini; Kakà; Inzaghi, Pato

Posted by: Darunia Apr 23 2009, 04:00 PM

Flamini should start after his performance last week, that being said... I could see Carlo benching him

QUOTE (Darunia @ Apr 23 2009, 03:00 PM) *

I think at this point, with Janku's current form I'd prefer Zambro on the left, Flamini on the right and Ambro in midfield.

Janku was our weak link in defence in that friendly, and when you have Senderos, a Brazilian RB, and a Brazilian CB that has played only a handful of times in a long time span, that's saying something.

Regarding the midfield and attack. I'm personally not convinced that will be it.

Pippo is in great form, any sane person would leave him in that starting line-up. Although having said that, we all know that Pippo in this type of form can come on at any point in a match and score. To him it's not about adapting to the rythem of a match since he's all about instinct. The only reason I'm making this point is because Dinho and Kaka are looking better with every match they play. Sheva also looked good in the friendly. And then there is the Beckham Seedorf issue, one is Carlo'l favourite and should he play better because of the sudden competition for his place he is not someone that can be overlooked. But with Becks playing so well... him and Pippo are a dinamic duo when it comes to assists and finishing off those assists. So if you have Pippo on that pitch Beckham has to start.

For me the ideal formation throughout the match would preferably be

Flamini--Maldini--Favalli--Zambro
Becks--Pirlo--Ambro
Kaka/Dinho
Pato--Pippo

At some point early in the second half 2 subs to come on being

Flamini--Maldini--Favalli--Zambro
Ambro--Pirlo--Seedorf
Kaka--Dinho
Pato

I'd stick with the 2 strikers tactic for this match.

Posted by: Tennie Apr 23 2009, 05:24 PM

Well, one person we're not likely to face is Palermo CB Moris Carozzieri:

Heh...and we were 'supposed' to be interested in him.

Posted by: MizNelson Apr 24 2009, 06:59 AM

It's sad to think that despite all the advances in modern-day drug testing, there are still idiots out there who think they'll never get caught.

Carrozzieri is just another dope - pun intended - who fell into that category.

Ronaldinho I hope. He's less an ex-player compared to Shevchenko.

Posted by: Jack Sparrow Apr 24 2009, 02:38 PM

By current form Sheva. And because I want to see two strikers. And I miss Sheva-Pippo. And they'll be expecting Ronaldinho. And because Ronaldinho and Kaka still tend to cancel each other out. And because Sheva can use his head (literally) better than R80. And because Becks will play, heading becomes rather important.

Posted by: han2503 Apr 24 2009, 03:48 PM

Seedorf will get the start in the xmas tree next to Kaka

I'll bet money on it wink.gif

Posted by: Tennie Apr 24 2009, 04:04 PM

So, today's training has taken place.

Beckham, Ronaldinho and Il Capitano got there early to do some running.

Emerson was present to say goodbye; everyone wished him well.

Then the real practice started. After warmups there was a 10 v 10 practice game followed by an 11 v 11 game in which Pippo scored twice.

Pato worked both in the morning and afternoon on specific exercises, as did Antonini.

Borriello ran laps around one of the pitches.

Nesta did some running outside on one of the pitches.

There's this club near Milanello so he went straight to training after clubbing.

If Seedorf plays it will be his 500th game of his career.

Let's hope come monday he's still on 499...

Posted by: Tennie Apr 25 2009, 02:38 PM

Carletto gave his prematch press conference.

Pato's got a 30% chance of playing -- a lot depends on how today's training goes. Flamini is confirmed to play somewhere on the pitch. Favalli is fit for the game.

Other than that, there's a lot of talk about transfer rumors - Ancelotti stated that he's still got a year on his contract and intends to see it out, etc etc.

Posted by: august_milan Apr 25 2009, 05:24 PM

poor pato...thats really unlucky to pick up an injury in training i thaught it was from the knock he picked up against torino that was keeping him out. hes really deserved a few goals on his performances lately. i really wanted him to reach 20 goals this season to boost his confidence. i wouldnt be supirsed to see sheva pippo upfront tho, with shevas 2 goals in the friendly during the week, and both him and pippo to exploit becks crosses and his abilty to set up aswell, id bet r80 comes in as a sub....depending how the game goes of course, but carleto seems to be convinced with 2 strikers, 15 goals and 2 conceded in the last 6 games...its hard to argue no?

Dida, Kalac, Perucchini
Darmian, Favalli, Jankulovski, Maldini, Mattioni, Senderos, Zambrotta
Ambrosini, Beckham, Cardacio, Flamini, Pirlo
Seedorf, Inzaghi, Kakà, Shevchenko, Ronaldinho.

so bad for pato, but i hope to see R80 and Kaka working with pipo , i think these will work very well, and i don't forget becks who will have a lot of space i think for his crosses because the palermo defense will be most focused on R80 and Kaka so i think pipo will score again for sure, and i am also glad to see flamini playing like these, he will be one of the bigest Milan forces for the next season!

biggrin.gif I'm not that sad. it's probably a one-game absence. doesn't seem like a serious injury (am I right?). Pato was used (/did play) way too much this season. probably more than any other player. so the injury can be seen as a blessing in disguise; he can rest a bit.

Posted by: Tennie Apr 25 2009, 09:23 PM

The impression I got was that it's a mucle pull only; so yeah, it's more of a precaution thing that he's not playing. Whoever plays in his place better step it up though; Palermo aren't a walkover.

No Seedorf please.......... . devilsmiley.gif Even though he's making terribly bad performances , I think he will still get the nod as Carlo is in love with him . And I hope Pato is alright and starts this match but we should not risk him if he's not 100 % . I predict a hard fought 3 - 1 win for Milan , Inzaghi to score twice & Kaka to score once .

Seeing as the game starts in 3 1/2 hours and I'm still awake, chances are I'll be oversleeping this one. Hopefully Dida can keep another clean sheet and the Torino goal won't have damaged his confidence.

I think someone other than Pippo will do the scoring tomorrow. 2-0.

Posted by: han2503 Apr 26 2009, 02:25 PM

This Zambro on the left, Flamini on the right system is realy working like a charm.

We're more secure at the back, then when we have Janku playing there. I think Jank should be left for the midfield position

Posted by: dst Apr 26 2009, 02:25 PM

Kaka is lively today, have not seen him in this state for ages.

Flamini with a similar incident to Ambro's... how was that not a penalty now? rolleyes.gif The French is quite effective on the flank and I hope he likes it cause it seems Carlo intents on playing him there.

Becks and him have been the mediocre performers in our team so far.

Where as Becks seems to be having hit and miss performances Seedorf is always a miss, Sheva or Dinho to replace Seedorf in the second half for me

Great tackle by Pirlo there fueling a counter-attack that ended with a lovely curved Kaka shot going just wide.

Ugh. We've got Rizzoli as referee for this match.

That was an understatement. He's a schizo; he's constantly making opposite decisions on similar incidents.

Posted by: elcordobez Apr 26 2009, 02:53 PM

I sense a solidness about our defense, there's just a sense of anticipation from all four defenders.

Flamini looks like Daniel Alves going up and down that flank.

I don't think they have been tested. We look great in defense because we're great in attack in my view.

Posted by: Tennie Apr 26 2009, 03:04 PM

Speaking of defenses, I just saw Reggina's goal -- horrible positioning both by the defenders (Ariaudo at least has the excuse of being a kid) and Buffon was too far back. It was a nice goal.

btw, Cassano is in great form for Samp - had assists on both of their goals. (Cagliari have pulled one back, just now).

Credit must go to Reggina as well as IMO that should have been a definite 3 points for Juve, let's hope Napoli can do us a favour tonight...

Goal.com's ratings -

Dida -6.0: The easiest afternoon the Brazilian could ever have dreamed of. Did not have a single save to make. Even Emerson could have played in goal, were he still at the club.

Flamini -8.0: Played in an unusual right back role for the second game running, and he again impressed, bombing up and down the flank. Carlo Ancelotti must seriously consider making this conversion permanent.

Maldini -7.5: The 40-year-old's career is almost over, and it is time to cherish every game he plays. There are only five left in a Milan shirt. Unflappable today.

Favalli -7.0: The 37-year-old made a couple of key interceptions in the first half, and formed a solid partnership alongside fellow veteran Maldini.

Zambrotta -6.5: Cruised through proceedings, and never really got out of second gear. Mind you, he did not need to such was Milan's monopoly of possession.

Beckham -7.0: Continued his fine form since arriving in January. Passing was pin-point, and his long ball led to the first penalty. Skied a good chance in the first half though.

Pirlo -8.0: Pirlo had the freedom of the Giuseppe Meazza as he sat in the middle-of-the-park and sprayed passes around the pitch. Controlled the tempo.

Ambrosini -8.0: Ambrosini has been one of Milan's best players in recent games, and he again excelled. Won the first penalty, and provided the assist for Inzaghi's header. Bullied the Palermo midfielders.

Kaka -9.0: Back to his very best. Scored both of his penalties, having won the second himself. His flicked pass started the move for Inzaghi's goal, he put Beckham clean through, and he caused havoc all afternoon with his running and creativity.

Seedorf -6.5: Of Milan's attacking players, Seedorf was perhaps the least prominent. Still a sound game though. Shot just wide on 50 minutes.

Inzaghi -7.5: Continued his rich vein of form with another goal - the tenth in his last seven games. Could have added to this tally but was twice wrongly flagged offside when clean through.

Subs

Ronaldinho 6.0: A few tricks and flicks, but nothing to get excited about.

Shevchenko 5.0: Even against ten men when the score is 3-0, Sheva still can't make an impact.

Cardacio N/V: No time to make an impact.

Posted by: Tennie Apr 26 2009, 05:41 PM

I think it was Kaka's best game for Milan in a good long while.

Herewith are Datasport's player ratings. Yell if you'd like a translation!

MILAN
Eterno

Gosh, in two weeks Kaka went from a cripple to Kaka again. In our last five games, we've scored 11 and conceded one. Pretty good stuff. Interesting move by the Palermo coach to pull Amelia in the 64th, unless he picked up some injury.

On a personal note, how the hell is Dida able to prove his worth to Carlo if he's not even getting tested? Except for Chievo, he basically hasn't had anything to do in goal. dry.gif

Here are really fast translations, probably bunches of errors.

MILAN
[Able to guard his goal even if, truth be told, he didn't need to make any miraculous saves.]

[Runs down the flanks with great frequency. When he starts, he's unstoppable.]

Maldini 6.5 -Dirige con mestiere la retroguardia milanista. Si esibisce in interventi pregevoli strappando applausi
[Leads with majesty the milanista rear guard. Shows some good interventions that earn applause.]

Favalli 6.5 -Gioca con grandissima attenzione. Decisivi molti dei suoi interventi
[Plays with great attention. Lots of decisive interventions.]

Pirlo 6.5 -Non sbaglia un pallone. Buoni lanci e grande prova in fase d'interdizione
[Doesn't miss a ball. Good passes and good work in interdiction.]

[In both offensive and defensive phases, he's indispensable. Earns the first penalty, makes a great assist for Inzaghi's goal and tackles an infinity of balls.]

[Really inspired, scores two goals and brings to life a lot of dangerous actions that the rosanero (palermo) players can't deal with and therefore they foul him systematically.]

[Good game as RB. Ready on every occasion.]

Cardaccio s.v.
[A few minutes in for Beckham.]

[Not one of his best games, goes between good balls and silly lost balls.]

[Not his best game; he doesn't shine but does his work: putting in crosses and stopping the sicilians' moves.]

Shevchenko s.v.
[Helped by his teammates, really wants and looks for a goal. to see.]

[Starts a little lazily, not very lively but his teammates transform him and he grows dangerous creating and distributing a lot of good moves.]

Eterno
[Scores his latest goal (a header) and for the whole game keeps the palermo defenders nervous. Eternal.]

I'd prefer it to stay that way, although with the games we have coming up, I wouldn't hold my breath

Juve and Roma might be awful atm but don't expect them to be walked over like we did to Chievo, Toro and Palermo

Today we saw a strong Milan side, in control of the match. Ancelotti made a very good mix, Milan's backbone players done extremely well. This has been a very satisfiable match and month all in all.

Not unusual. Whether it's Moanin' Ho or Mancini, Inter will choke down the stretch and squeak out the Scudetto by a slim margin. (Yes, it's still too late for us to top them.)

sure it is, but 7 points in last 3 matches is everything but not bad biggrin.gif:D.... Where have we been till now? Too bad that we woke up so late in the season!

injuries have hurt us a lot, plus we've introduced a lot of new people into the line up this year.

i think we're just now seeing them gel. hopefully they can carry this over into next year. they are looking REAL good.

i'd love to see the title race go down to the final day! we have some tough games ahead of us though. 5 matches left though...anything is possible!

Milan meet with Sheikh Monday 27 April, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Milan yesterday played host to Sheikh Al Maktoum, the son of the Emir of Dubai, but talk of a takeover is premature, according to Il Corriere della Sera.

Al Maktoum is reportedly interested in sponsoring Milan, as the Rossoneri's current £10m deal with Bwin expires at the end of next season.

If an agreement is reached, Milan, like Arsenal and Hamburg, will be seen wearing the Fly Emirates logo on their shirts.

According to Il Corriere della Sera, Al Maktoum is willing to pay the Rossoneri a lucrative £20m for a four-year sponsorship deal with the option of a fifth written into the terms of the contract.

The Italian Press believe the deal will not stop there, though, with Al Maktoum reportedly ready to become a major shareholder in the club.

Milan are in desperate need of new capital and - on top of limiting their transfer spending this summer - will try to enforce a salary cap, bringing wages down 30 per cent.

Honorary President Silvio Berlusconi can no longer be seen spending large amounts of money on Milan in his position as Italy Prime Minister.

^^

I thought i saw some Arab guys in the crowd , i guess we might be getting Fly Emirates Logo king.gif yahoo.gif

I don't want that logo. It's unlucky. No team has worn that logo and ever won anything...

Milannews is reporting that the Emirates guys may also be willing to discuss helping to finance a new stadium.

(Can someone open the next match thread? I would but we lose when I open match threads).

Either a new stadium or a nicely reconstructed San Siro would be fine with me!

ha you can put a picture of a schlong on the front, if it would finance a new stadium well i'd be ok with it laugh.gif

I'd rather them help finance other areas of the team, such as the squad and medical facilities

If anyone should move out of San Siro, it's Inter. How can we leave a stadium like San Siro and move to the Emerites Stadium v2.0??!!!!!

personally i love the san siro, my fav football stadia in world and thats not just cuz i support milan. it combines everything i look for in a stadium: capacity, the steapness of the steating, the unique columns supporting the 3rd tier and the steel roof, no running track, i'm not a big fan of oval shapped stadiums either. but the thing is crumbling and eventually every stadium life span comes to an end. i'd be in favor of a new one but it would have to retain most of the present features, it wouldnt be an emerites v2.

Posted by: MizNelson Apr 27 2009, 09:42 PM

Sure. We'll bring in a huge youth movement next season (Lord knows we've bitched about it enough), wear Emirates on our shirts and essentially become Arsenal 2.0., trophy drought included. Meh. rolleyes.gif

Posted by: Jack Sparrow Apr 28 2009, 05:31 AM

No Emirates. I'm sure Sheikh Maktoum has other business ventures which he can put on our shirt. Me...I want AUDI. Surely Audi can spare 30 million for 5 years!!

Posted by: dst Apr 28 2009, 10:22 AM

the ****!???

NO NEW STADIUM!!!

That would be such a bad move, San Siro is part of our history, we may as well create a new Emirates-inspired badge! Oh it's annoying I certainly hope it's not true. Come on Inter leave first then we can spend out money on buying and renovating San Siro!

EDIT: Saw your PM; Err..yeah..so erm..feel free to do whatever you like. I urm...unfortunately you do hold a position which gives you some advantage over me. dry.gif
