He was injuried great part of the season. Now he decided to play 1 more year in Benfica.
He's more like someone who can get in and change a match. He can only play 50-60 minutes max.

But his presence in Benfica is important. He's a symbol of the club. Just like Vitor Baia in Porto.

@dst: Katsouranis had a superb season until March. Then he seemed really tired in almost every game. Anyway, everybody in Benfica (the directors, F.Santos, the other players, the fans) love him. They look at him as an example. He'll be in the first 11 on the next year(s) I believe.

QUOTE
Wesley Sneijder appears to be at odds with Ajax over Valencia's failed bid for his services.

The Che had been speaking to Ajax for some time about the talented midfielder, but their bid hit the buffers over the weekend when the Amsterdam club confirmed a fee had not been agreed.

Ajax added that they expected Sneijder to knuckle down and show commitment to the club, but the 22-year-old seems intent on securing a transfer away from Amsterdam.

"Officially, I have heard nothing about it yet, but the last words have yet to be spoken about this," Sneijder told De Telegraaf.

"The only way to break with Ajax is by kicking up a fuss. But that's not my style."

Sneijder has a further two years to run on his contract and feels the time has come for Ajax to cash in.

He added: "This is the moment for a transfer.

"I have been playing in the first team at Ajax for five years. And surely Ajax don't want to let me walk out for free in two years' time?"

Albedla, Joaquin, David Silva, Vicente, Raul Albiol AND Sneijder? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

They'd have some real choice in midfield.

Albiol is more of a defender though... But from that list, I like Joaquin and Vicente.

Joaquin!! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) (Even though his pace reminds me of Gerrard a bit... (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) )

And Silva has had a great (CL) season!! Amazing!! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

So, Porty, now that the season's over, are there any rumors about my next favorite player, Nelson? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

He's staying. Now he has to fight for his place with Marc Zoro (ex-Messina).

From GREECE:

(IMG:http://futebolez.blogs.sapo.pt/arquivo/peseiro.jpg)

José Peseiro (ex-Sporting Lisbon coach) joined Panathinaikos. He's a good in tactics, but problem is that he should be a strict guy, and he isn't. He left Sporting because of that.

In Sporting he lost the championship (to Benfica) and the UEFA Cup final (to CSKA Moscow) in the last week of the season. So painful for the Sporting fans. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

By the way, he's a Benfica fan.

There are rumors in the Italian press that Benfica are preparing an offer (roughly 1.5 m euros) for Messina's Rigano.

Eddie Johnson ------- KC --- 9 ---- 9 --- 3
Juan Pablo Angel - NY --- 6 ---- 7 --- 2
Taylor Twellman ----- NE ---10 ---- 7 --- 0

Like I said. Forget Beckham, Pablo is the one that's going to light up the MLS. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

You sold Mellberg, Barry and Petrov for Kompany, Ribery and Lampard. Are you trying to kill us! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Upson and Savage had better be jokes. We're not having any 'iconic' Birmingham players on our team. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
