Pippo Inzaghi says Milan will ‘always be in my heart’ despite sacking him, but admits ‘bitterness and disappointment’.

It was confirmed this morning that the Coach had been dismissed from his position, with former Sampdoria boss Sinisa Mihajlovic replacing him.

“This completes an unforgettable experience that has enriched me both from a professional and personal point of view,” Inzaghi wrote on his official Facebook page.

“I thank Milan for giving me this great opportunity, I did my best, with all my staff, working every day with desire, passion and dedication.

“Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough, and things didn’t go as we hoped.

“There is still bitterness and disappointment that I was not given the opportunity to continue. With a year’s more experience I’d have been even more fired-up and knowledgeable… but that’s football.

“A hug, and a good luck from the bottom of my heart for all the players who were behind me in recent months, despite the difficulties they’ve always shown professionalism and respect.

“I also thank all the Milan fans, who were right there with me until the end, even though they were suffering.

“A special thought for the lads of the Curva Sud, thank you for your moving statement.

“Milan will always be in my heart, I will support and cheer for them - always.

“I embrace you all, and I’ll see you soon.”
