QUOTE A VISIT TO THE MARASSI | AC MILAN
Milan will travel to Genoa to square off with Sampdoria at the Marassi Stadium in the two teams’ Italian Cup quarterfinal game on Wednesday, January 26, with kick-off scheduled for 17.30 CET.
MILAN - The Rossoneri’s way in the Italian Cup 2010-2011 leads to Genoa next as Milan are set to visit Sampdoria hoping to qualify for the semifinals. The match at the Marassi is scheduled to kick off at 17.30 CET on Wednesday, January 26.
Just like Milan, also Sampdoria entered the competition in the last sixteen thanks to their fourth place finish in the championship last season.
In their first Italian Cup match of the year, coach Di Carlo’s men saw off Udinese 7-6 in an entertaining clash decided on penalties. Regulation time finished 1-1 as Isla (90) responded to Macheda (31) to force extra time. Udinese then took the lead in the 91st minute with Denis, but Pazzini equalised for the hosts by converting a penalty on 108 minutes.
On Wednesday, coach Di Carlo will have to do without promising midfielder Daniele Dessena due to the player’s one-match ban following his dismissal in the game against Udinese.
Also Lucchini, Pazzini and Pozzi may miss the game due injuries picked up in Sampdoria’s Serie A game against Juventus yesterday.
Last season the Blucerchiati were eliminated from the Italian Cup by Livorno (1-2) in the fourth round of the competition.

I'd love for us to win the Coppa Italia. With the team we've got, winning a double would be really a good and reasonable achievement..and maybe set us up for the next few years.
I want to see Strasser and Papa starting. Roma too.

Called-up players: Abbiati, Di Fabio, Roma, Abate, Antonini, Ely (n.53), Jankulovski, Oddo, Papastathopoulos, Thiago Silva, Yepes, Calvano (n.54), Emanuelson (n.28), Merkel, Van Bommel (n.4), Cassano, Ibrahimovic, Oduamadi, Pato, Robinho. Unavailable players: Amelia, Bonera, Nesta, Zambrotta, Ambrosini, Boateng, Flamini, Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf, Strasser, Inzaghi. Would you look at that long of list of injuries. I really don't get why players get injured so often in Italy. Anyway, this is how I'd play us tomorrow: Roma Oddo - Sokratis - Yepes - Antonini van Bommel - T. Silva - Emanuelson Merkel Pato - Robinho I really wouldn't play Ibrahimovic. Maybe insert him in the second half.

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Jan 26 2011, 12:22 AM) Unavailable players: Amelia, Bonera, Nesta, Zambrotta, Ambrosini, Boateng, Flamini, Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf, Strasser, Inzaghi. Don't you find this a bit ironic, we can make a starting eleven out of this injury list.

Agreed, we should consider wrapping Thiago in cotton until Nesta returns, not risk playing him in midfield
