Not good enough today. Tiredness a key factor in that. Just too man heavy legs by the 45th minute. Monto was terrible, we really missed Biglia. Had he been in that midfield we would have been able to dominate.

Honestly, this feels like the death knell to our CL hopes. We're 8 points behind Inter now with 8 games to go. I can't see us making it up now that Inter seem to be back on their feet.

Yeah I would say that about bounces us out of CL contention. It was always a long shot with how we started the season. I think we have to let Gattuso run the ship and try and decide who he wants and who he doesn't want for next year. I hope Gattuso pulls up another player or two from the youth team to see if they can provide anything while we don't have much to play for. Our schedule isn't terrible after Napoli and our only goal is to stay in the EL spots.

If we play to our full potential, we can still do a clean sweep of the rest of our league fixtures (bar the Napoli game) and hope for Inter and Lazio to trip up 3 to 4 times (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Come on, seriously? You think Biglia would have made a difference. Give me a break.

We were just out of it today. Tired, sloppy, not motivated enough. We were lucky not to lose. Inter deserved to win, plain and simple. Not that they were fantastic or anything, but they created more.

We're out of the CL race at this point, I don't see us pulling back through. An 8-point gap is way too large with a handful of weeks to season end. Hopefully we get 5th spot so we avoid the EL play-offs in July.

Rodriguez was terrible again. I know I might get on your nerves for repeating over and over again, but the man is not first team material. He's too slow. Icardi should have netted twice on his account.

I'm also moving to board the RR is too slow train. Choo Choo!!

But in all seriousness, we should think about trying to flip him for value this summer as well. Bring in a young fast player who can provide going forward and at the back. Cancelo was able to burn us down that right side and he kept getting the better of RR.

Monto was a liability, kept giving the ball away, slowed down the pace so much due to taking so long to make the pass to the point of the fans becoming agitated with him more than once and you could hear the grumbling roar in the stadium every time he took almost 20 to 30 seconds to decide where to pass. Biglia not being there cost us a lot. People underestimate the influence he has on the team's play.

I agree that heavy legs for us were also a factor, let's not forget that Inter strolled it against Verona while we had to play the toughest team in the league.

As for the league, you never know what will happen, the important thing is to get max points out of the coming games. Napoli is the only clear game where we'll most likely drop points. Inter and Lazio have shown that they can be inconsistent, so have Roma. So even though it's a very slim chance, I haven't completely lost faith.

I agree that he's becoming a clear weakness in the side, but for me, he's not a priority to replace this summer. Imo Bonaventura was much worse yesterday, as he has been for the entire season. With him and Monto our midfield was DOA. I'm really surprised how we managed to draw this considering that only Kessie was putting in a good shift in our midfield while the other 2 were asleep. Bona has become a huge liability, and it pains me to say this as I've been a big admirer of his since he joined the club. But he's not the best player in the team anymore, or the one we rely on to do something when things are going bad. He over dribbles and shoots too much while his defensive contribution is lacking as well.

I'd look into getting a replacement for him and a top striker before even thinking about getting a better LB at this point.

Like I said, Rodriguez for me isn't a top priority. I'd rather go for a much better mezala to put Bona on the bench and a 20+ goal striker. We'll never be competitive if we don't have someone capable of giving us a certain amount of goals each season and all the teams above us have just that

These are the last 10 games for us, Inter, Lazio and Roma

We're 9 behind Roma and 8 behind Inter. I still believe we have a 20% chance to get the job done. Winning that derby would have elevated those chances to about 60% but alas, it wasn't to be and we stopped Inter from gaining even more headway when we could have easily lost.

So I hope Gattuso can re-group the team. We need a lot to go our way, it doesn't just depend on us but the 2/3 teams ahead of us. But I still believe, Gattuso has restored that within me as a Milan fan and I'm eternally grateful.

4 months ago, we'd have laughed off any chance of us still being in contention as we all believed the season to be over and we weren't even hopeful of a EL spot. But this is what Rino has brought to the table for us. So I'm very happy to see the news about his renewal. He deserves it imo.

If F&M can give him 3 top players to work with next season he can do something special

So much this. The way to build bench strength and something B&G got wrong is that you need to buy first XI players who will replace or at least challenge your current first XI. That's how you know you'll always have quality from your bench.

What are you three positions for top players?

For me - CF, LW/RW, LCM.

I'd go so far as to say- we need both a left and right winger. One should be top class, shoo-in in the first XI and the other should be some kind of exciting youngster. But I don't have any names. My scouting is way behind how it used to be.

Agreed Jack. Those are the places we need the most help, a quick look at the standings shows how poor we are at scoring goals compared to the teams ahead of us.

I have heard some mention about a swap between us and Lazio. We send them Mussachio and they send us Felipe Anderson. I would love this personally. Mussachio is always 3rd choice CB at a position that doesn't get the sub barring injury, we can afford to lose him for a pacey, dangerous winger.

I would also like us to show some ambition and snatch Chiesa from Fiorentina. I think that he would be a boon to our attacking options.

For the CF position, I would want someone like Belotti. I know he has had a down year but hopefully, it will lower his price a bit. He's a Milan fan and would be great here.

For LCM, one player I would love is Barella from Calgiari. The kid can do it all. Passing, shooting, tackling. He is a complete midfielder. The only issue is that he is a little small.

It's one thing saying Biglia is important in our midfield (which I don't agree with anyway), it's another saying that we didn't dominate because of his absence. That is, no offense, something ridiculous to say.

Agreed about CF and LW, those are an absolute must. As for LCM, well, if we do sign a LW then we might as well play Hakan there. I think he has all it takes to cover that position well. Think of Seedorf.

For CF my priority remains Belotti. For LW, honesty, I'm at a loss. We need someone proven that can make a difference, but I can't think of anyone. Reus has been mentioned but he's very injury prone. I just realized he's only played 5 games in the Bundesliga this season.

I like Perotti a lot, but like Suso he's more of an advanced midfielder than a proper forward. I want a LW that's more attack-oriented. Depay? Keita Balde?

Agreed, we need to buy 3 players that will move 3 starters to the bench. Namely a top CF, a LW and another midfielder who can be versatile.

It will give us a better starting 11 with a deep bench that is good enough to replace starters when it is needed. Right now, if we're missing just one player, the drop is quality is huge

Just take a look at the games we played against Lazio (trice), Roma and Juve. That should tell you how crucial he was for us in taking control of the midfield game. Monto was a ghost against Inter and it showed as we were never able to really get a grasp of things as we did against all the other top teams we've played since Rino took over.

Biglia has taken his time. And he ultimately isn't the complete package we wanted in a CM/regista. But he's a very influential figure to our game, his defensive positions and passing are very important for our midfield.

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Apr 6 2018, 11:39 PM) *

I agree about Hakan, but again, this goes back to what squad we want to build and if we want to be competitive then there shouldn't be any problem with having 2 quality players to choose from for the same position. Hakan would be a good fit in midfield, but I still think we need someone who is even better than that if we want to challenge next season.

I'm thinking of someone in the mould of Kovacic, Milinkovic-Savic, maybe even Zielinski. Someone who is comfortable on the ball who's capable of bringing it forward and starting attacks

As for the winger position, if we had serious cash to spend and would be willing to split that on 2 players, I'd say go all out for someone like Willian or Sanchez (he's very unsettled at Man U from what I read). What do you think about Martial for example? He's out of favour at Man U, he's incredibly talented and he's best at playing on the right wing and cutting in.

As for the striker position, as I previously mentioned, this season has made me doubt Belotti a bit. If it's at a reasonable price we should definitely pounce on the opportunity. But there are other options out there. Cavani could be on the move, Morata is struggling at Chelsea and I'd seriously take another look at Immobile. He might be terrible outside of his Serie A comfort zone, but he's killing it in the league this season. If we can get him, we should absolutely go for it. He'll ensure a certain amount of goals in the league and imo that's what we lack the most
