I mean the idea for me is that Locatelli is a player that always puts on a good shift, is very good in the defensive side of things, and has a good shot in him. Obviously, I'm aware that he is not the next Pirlo. He is not that type of player so I try not to compare. But, the main idea for me is: he is a young player, Milan blood, Italian, barely costs anything, and always does well on the field. He is also steadily improving...obviously not close to explosion yet. Now, it is totally your opinion if you think he will ever be Milan-calibre or not! But, I really think we should keep him for all the arguments mentioned before. Well, yeah, that's just my two cents on the thing.

The debate is dumb. I retract any aggressive sentiment but for me if there's doubt about a player after over a year of playing him, he isn't up to the task.

I understand your viewpoint. But it is because of this sort of mindset, that we're now considering 80MM for Aubameyang. because we decided after a couple of years playing with us that he just wasn't going to show 'it'.

THIS!!!

Personally I need more than just a year to asses if someone has what it takes. Just like when someone has an amazing season and could easily be a complete dud for the rest of his career

I think Locatelli has talent for sure. tO manage to play in that position at such a young age while showing the maturity he does is already a great indicator. Pirlo was no one at Locatelli's age btw. If he was put aside at that age simply because he couldn't cut it as a trequartista then we would have never been privy to his genius. Or Coutinho, never given a proper chance at Inter, goes to Liverpool and is now one of the most coveted players in the world. And this could be said for many other top players as well

Danny, I don't get your need to make such instant judgements. Can't we just give him the time he's shown that he deserves and we'll assess later?

He's not going to be taking up a spot from someone better, he costs practically nothing in wages, is a better sub than Monto. So what do we have to lose by keeping him and giving him a proper, honest to god chance to really make it

Not all youngsters can be a Kaka/Messi/Mbappe/Dembele/etc And I still have a questions regarding the last 2, as they need to do it on a consistent basis for more than a season for us to be able to see if they really have "it"

Neither was Sokratis and he's arguably one of the best defenders in Bundesliga.

We were not suited to Aubameyang back in those days and he not to us and if he'd stayed he'd never have been the player he is now.

Just because they get good in a different environment doesn't mean they'd have bloomed in ours.

Look at Suso - absolute mince at Liverpool but, flaws aside, bloomed at San Siro during his first full season. If he'd stayed at Liverpool he'd be loaned to Stoke by now.

But doesn't this logic goes against your line of thought?

BTW, I don't have a problem with judging a player from the 1st impression. Sometimes you can see that there is no talent, that the guy has no clue with the ball. But that is not Locatelli. They guy held our midfield last season and for a 18 years old that is impressive. He was most used player in midfield and actually had the guts to challenge the likes of Pjanic and Nainggolan. We clearly want someone better (in short term) than him to lead or midfield right now, but I feel that he can grow a low. Especially on the offensive and playmaking, since I think that defensively he is more than decent even now. The game vs Craiova in SanSiro showed that.
