Week 37:
Fiorentina - Parma
Genoa - Lazio
Inter - Siena
Juventus - Catania
Livorno - Torino
Napoli - Milan
Palermo - Sampdoria
Reggina - Empoli
Roma - Atalanta
Udinese - Cagliari
Can mathematically clinch, but winning at Napoli isn't easy. Forza Milan!

No messing around now. A must win, anything less than 3 points here is totally unacceptable, as is not qualifying for the CL.

if we play like today they wont score those 2 goals.... pato to start this one i hope along with pippo as pirlo is suspended lets hope we win this one and voila drop points so in the finale there is nthing to play for and we can start with gila and those who will leave to say farewell

The San Paolo is a notoriously difficult place to play --- they were sold out even when Napoli were in Serie B. The Napoli fans are very devoted (though 17 fewer of them will be in attendance next weekend most likely; they were arrested for trying to attack the Roma bus after today's game).
That said, Milan doesn't have a painfully bad record there, though it goes back to when Napoli were playing in Serie A. Van Basten got 4 goals in one game.
Milan can't screw this one up. They've got to go out and put in the same sort of performance that they did today. And they have to do without Pirlo too; he picked up a yellow and will miss the game. Not sure if anyone from Napoli will be missing.
Posted by: Rossoneri7 May 4 2008, 10:24 PM
Milan should play it safe.
Of all the players, Maldini will be reminiscing on the side lines. Ah well, It wont be an easy match. Napoli vs Milan comes on a wave of a lot of history.
Still I am hopeful .. a two goal difference just to keep things safe.
As for the lineup .. two upfront

For Napoli, Blasi and Santacroce will serve 1 match bans for yellow card accumulation.
Posted by: CrazyMilanFan May 4 2008, 10:55 PM
santacroce is one of their main defender rite the young higly rated player
Posted by: Tennie May 4 2008, 10:58 PM
Yep. Santacroce is very good. Him not playing is a loss for them.
Posted by: Darunia May 4 2008, 11:22 PM
Gazzetta probable lineup:
Inzaghi
Seedorf Kaka
Ambrosini Brocchi Gattuso
Favalli Kaladze Nesta Bonera
Kalac
I wouldn't be surprised if Inzaghi starts up front alone again.. it's been working lately. I wouldn't mind seeing Pato-Inzaghi either, but knowing Carlo... if Favalli can't go then Jankulovski will start, hopefully he's ready. Bonera has been playing solid and will be preferred over Oddo again.

i think janku might start. He played really well. but overall i agree with this lineup. Maybe emerson on bench. Its not the best but we have to play to win. dropping seedorf back and bringing in pato in second half is an absolute must!
Posted by: han2503 May 5 2008, 12:23 PM
Peronally I would like to see us start with a 2 man attack, especially without Pirlo it will be harder to create chances
Bonera--Nesta--Kala--Janku
---Rino--Ambro--Seedorf---
------------Kaka--------------
--------Pippo--Pato-----------
Posted by: han2503 May 5 2008, 12:25 PM
Plus with that midfield the Gazzetta is predicting I can't see us actually doing anything, 3 defensive mids against Napoli?? I think that's too much even for Carlo Oh wait he's already tried it before my bad

They did not get it because of the win, there's (almost) always a day off after the last game and before the next one when there's only one game per week.

Haha. True enough, dst, but this time they actually deserve the day off.

Posted by: Tennie May 5 2008, 04:30 PM
Haha. Thanks, Acid, but I'd be useless at Milan Lab - unless they need someone to ogle Nesta.

Hehe, yeah, he can use some ogling. The man was immense yesterday. His sliding tackle on Suazo, the countless clearings, solid defense, even came forward a few times. Can't ask much from a defender. He's the heir of Maldini after all, similar build, similar style. Not quite the standards of God himself, but none to shabby either. Even my English friends term him as probably the best CB in the world.
I still can't believe how we got him from Lazio! Don Silvo at his best.

Napoli at home is always a tough game and very hostile (big time scary moment there!)
but we know what we need to do and we have some from so i predict a 1-2 win and a firm grip on 4th place!!
forza milan!

Today's training has taken place.
Lots and lots of work with the ball today: one on ones, mini-games without keepers, mini-games with keepers, etc. Pato and Gilardino scored nice goals in the practice game.
Il Capitano and Dida are still hurt.
Inzaghi, Bonera, Gattuso, Seedorf and Kalac did specific work to make a good start to the work in advance of Napoli-Milan.

my line up
same on as inter game with janku replacing favalli and brocchi in for pirlo. yes 3dms. now is not the time to alter our style of play. Kaka and seedorf are more than enough to dictate the attack and score. i just hope inzaghi is still on form.

thanks for the info mate
as for the game against napoli. i hope we'll be with 2 upfront and show them that we're still as good as against inter . something like 2:1 would be great but as long as fiore loose, it's great
Posted by: Tennie May 6 2008, 09:43 PM
The San Paolo isn't a friendly place for opposing teams. That said, Milan have gotten good wins there before and Napoli IS without Santacroce. It's a bigger hit than it would be to most teams, because Napoli usually lines up 3-4-3 or 3-5-2.
Might not be a bad idea to play a 4-3-1-2 for this one though....the Xmas Tree has been doing really well and I wouldn't want to jinx that.
Posted by: CrazyMilanFan May 6 2008, 10:05 PM
they have blasi also suspended he is considered as an important player to them aswell if i am not wrong?
Posted by: Tennie May 6 2008, 10:28 PM
^^ Yep. Blasi is suspended. Also, Zalayeta is on the injured list and that dents their strike capabilities.
(Also of note but not related to this particular game is the fact that Toto Di Natale is 'diffidati' -- which means that he'll be suspended for the Udinese game if he picks up a yellow this Sunday).

There were two training sessions today. The first session was individualized work in small groups. The second session included defensive drills, possession drills, and a practice game.
Dida, Il Capitano, and Favster trained in the gym.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Janku FINALLY starting this one.

Posted by: acid911 May 8 2008, 01:17 AM
Anyhoo, the good bit is that from all the interviews I've read after our Inter match, everyone from Paloschi to Ambrosini (and everything in between) has been saying that the destiny is in our hands. It's up to the team to go out an win the remaining matches. Which is every bit true. A slip up here, and fortune might not be so benevolent again.
So all in all, it's good to see the team willing to give their all for these two matches.

Milan defender Daniele Bonera is already focused on the next league game against Napoli this weekend in the 37th matchday of Serie A, as last Sunday’s win against Inter is now in the past...
The Rossoneri need to win their last two league games in order to be certain of finishing fourth in Serie A, and last weekend’s derby win against the Nerazzurri has definitely been the right morale booster in that regard.
However, according to Bonera, Milan have already forgotten that game and are now concentrating solely on their upcoming, decisive clashes.
"The win was surely a positive note, but we are already looking towards the difficult game on Sunday at Naples," declared the former Parma defender.
"Napoli is a team which have proven themselves able to play good games," he continued.
"For them it will be the last home game in front of a very warm crowd and they will want to do well," concluded Bonera.
I really do think we're taking this seriously and not being complacent. We better be...too much to lose. 25 million is not gonna become smaller with no CL next season.

Today's training has taken place.
Warmups, drills, and 'calcio-tennis' were the order of the day.
Il Capitano and Dida worked in the gym.
Favster did separate work in the Sand Pit Of Doom.
Bonera did some specific work instead of the drills but took part in the 'calcio-tennis'.

dst's gender is one of the great mysteries of life, Trini. However, it's been explored in another thread: http://www.milanfan.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5827&st=60 (start at post #68).
As for watching the Napoli game, those of you who have access to streaming, please keep an eye out. Napoli is the only club in Serie A that didn't sign along with the tv rights thing, so games at the San Paolo aren't (to my knowledge) being (legally) broadcast outside Italy. For those who understand italian, Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli may be doing voice commentary. Note: I don't know if it'll be in standard Florentine Italian or in dialect. And the Neapolitan dialect...well, it's very difficult for those who don't live there to understand. To the extent that it's often subtitled for other Italians.

Carletto's press conference has taken place. Highlights:
* Gourcuff took a knock in training; that's why he wasn't called up.
* Favster has recovered and should start on the left.
* He thinks it'd be very difficult for Amauri to arrive in Milan.
* Milan hasn't given up on possible negotiations for Drogba.
* Paloschi's future (whether he stays at Milan or is loaned out to get more playing experience) will in part depend on who comes in during the transfer season.
* Milan will renew Ronaldo's contract if he recovers.

Why ? I mean this is the Milan way after all. Doesn't mean he'll be a starter, just means that Milan is class.
Should we renew, Cafu's Favalli's Serginho's (Dida's?) and Ba's too?
No most if not all of these players should be released
Having a crippled Ronaldo who eats away at the wage structre is no good, money is being thrown away in vain. We are a football club before a hub of sincerity and sentimentality, i just wished the board knew this too

No of course, if it was my call I would rather save up
But this is the philosophy of the club .. If he can make a comeback to football, they will renew with him.
Cafu, Sergio, etc Milan have continued to renew their contracts. Cafu for obvious reasons ... Bottom line, the management know what they are doing. But in all honesty he is payed a LOT for a player on the sidelines. Still, sentimentally he picked Milan up last season while Oli and Gila were picking their noses

I have no problem with looking after players that've done alot for the club. But Ronaldo has missed more games through injury than he's actually played, and now he's causing trouble outside of football. We don't need this.

You should start using Firefox!
Just open the link with your internet browser. If it's not working then your browser also needs a WMP add-on or something... maybe the Windows IE doesn't need it, I don't know...
Or maybe you're a Mac user?

Firefox aye.. might need to sell it to me abit more.
If this link works in an hrs time and I can see the game, ill commend your absolute awesomness.
Any score predictions folks...
0-3 (Kaka', Inzaghi, Kaka')
And yes I know, those two scoring is abit of a long shot

Why didn't Carlo play with 2 strikers and Seedorf instead of Brocchi???

Im trying something new today. Ill be recording the whole match live and during half time and after the game I'll edit the video to have my own selected highlights. Wich is better cause that way i dont have to wait for sky italia to show them 2 hours after the game , and lately they dont show extended highlights , only the goals
Wish me luck and lets hope Sky Italia doesnt let me down today cause its the only Channel i get wich is showing it ...

For the remaining games planned - Napoli-Catania, Napoli-Parma, Napoli-Torino, Napoli-Lazio, Napoli-Udinese, Napoli-Empoli, Napoli-Inter, Napoli-Roma, Napoli-Fiorentina, Napoli-Palermo, Napoli-Atalanta, Napoli-Siena and Napoli-Milan - you will have the chance of taking out a subscription for a cost of approximately US$70.
SSC Napoli is investing large sums in this major project, which will make Napoli the first Italian team to offer fans this possibility. However, if we are to be sure of getting the project off the ground, we need to have at least 100,000 subscribers.
So your support for the project is vital.
We are therefore inviting you, WITH NO COMMITMENT WHATSOEVER, to fill in the form below, so that we can focus our investment to the best advantage.
Thank you

Yeah, in the audio link posted above we only get to see the commentators, the random view of the stadium and occasional ads thrown in here and there. Napoli has officially become my least favorite club this side of Inter. How low can you go by depriving people of a good sport? Good Lord, TV rights!
It's a good thing we beat them back to where they came, 5-2.

Wow it seems like they're really all over us, one og those defensive mids needs to be taken off at half time, we need someone that can actually hold on to the ball in midfield and can actually distribute it, Seedorf shoudl drop back and Pato should come on for Brocchi after half time
