QUOTE (X-Offender @ Nov 3 2022, 09:09 PM) Bennacer was massive last night. He completely dominated that midfield with such ease. He has the dexterity of a playmaker and the grit of a Gattuso. What a player!
Giroud also with a massive performance. Two goals and two assists. His assist for Krunic was especially spectacular.
Tottenham would be the perfect opponent. Benfica and Porto the next best thing. Madrid, Bayern and City the worst outcome. Although I think we could take on Madrid if we played with the intensity of last night. I love Benna. And I pray that we don't f@ck up his renewal. He's one of the irreplaceable players on this team We're already feeling the hit with Kessie's departure. We can't do it over again with Benna because I don't see any other player who does what he does out there. Giroud we just need to wrap him up and spring him out in the important games. Such a difference maker. Madrid and their CL aura is what worries me most. As a team of individuals we can probably match up to them quite well but they just raise their level significantly in this competition QUOTE (TriniKing_CE @ Nov 3 2022, 10:13 PM) I hear you... I just narrowed it down to 2 cuz I figured the odds were already tough as it was hoping for 2 of the entire lot possible. I'll be honest though, I won't mind getting some revenge over Porto for last year. Bennacer really is a fantastic player when he's on his game. One of my favourites! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/king.gif) I think we played Porto crippled by injuries last year as well like we did with Chelsea this season, which could maybe account for the dismal performances. I don't recall the games that well and I don't know who we had out, I just remember us being terrible The majority of players on this team as it is, I love, which is not something I've said since the Carlo era probably. But Benna, Theo, Tonali are my current favorites of the lot. All of the play with such fierceness, it's beautiful to watch QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Nov 4 2022, 08:14 PM) CL draw this Monday, I fear whom we are paired against. At the top of this list comes Munich and the EPL team, those Milan have to avoid to stand a chance.
Then Madrid lead by Carlo, that is a situation I dont like either.
So what are we left with Porto and Benfica? Both are welcome in comparison to the rest. So yeah Id rather face a Portuguese side in the round of 16. Benfica I want the least, would put them next to City and Bayern on the list. They play great football, have some great players (that Enzo Fernandez we stupidly passed on is insane) and them being a Portuguese side worries me as we would probably take them more lightly than a proper big side. So for me the list from good to terrible in terms of draw goes like this Spurs Porto Madrid Benfica Bayern City

We have lost the plot during our easiest run FFS
Ridiculous from this team FFS. Like I've been saying for a while. We literally raise or lower our level based on the opponent.

Tata makes me feel like every "save" is mostly coincidental.
Basically even the ones he catches, even he looks surprised at actually doing it. And when he can try to save he's rooted to the spot

What a f@cking meal we made of that!
A game we should hav been 4-1 up at half time in and we nearly p!ssed away 2 points.
Once again. The world cup cannot come soon enough
This team needs a breather, Pioli needs a breather FFS because his rotations and futsing about is creating even more issues for us when it is clear we're physically not there
Thankfully the majority of our players will not be in the world cup or won't be starters at least. Probably only Theo will play a lot there. So this will be good for us. I've been b!tching about this WC for years, but now I can't wait for it to come. This team needs it.

Btw, Icannot overstate anymore how important Bennacer is to this team.
As soon as he's not in there the midfield completely loses control. Tonali's positioning is my biggest issue here. If Benna isn't there why is he not taking up the defensive role? It makes absolutely no sense to leave that to Krunic!
Why are we not seeing Vranckx? Krunic/Pobega in the double pivot but this kid cannot get a look in, when he's actually played the f@cking position before!
Pioli needs to do better!

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Nov 5 2022, 10:50 PM) I'm so fucking frustrated! How did we let such an easy match get such a huge hassle in the end??? So, so many chances in the first half, should have netted the 2-0 without a problem. Then we let Spezia, fucking Spezia man, do whatever they want in the second.
I'm so mad at Pioli. Why did he sub off Bennacer??? He was so clutch in that midfield. What, because he was on yellow??? What a coward. Then his fixation with Gabbia. First of all Kalulu on the right is unwatchable. Put in Dest FFS! But even so, pick Thiaw over Gabbia. He's so insecure on and off the ball it's maddening.
Then obviously our luck wants the VAR to disallow a golaso from Tonali as well. It almost felt like a re-run of Milan-Spezia from last year. I was honestly waiting for Spezia to win it the end.
Ughhh man... The ref was horrific btw. Just completely lost control of the game. The VAR on that Theo goal... Just inexcusable how they went for 5 minutes without a decision. First half we were decent, created a lot of good chances, but once again terrible with the final ball. Story of this team basically. Brahim is doing so much better as of late but he really needs to release the ball quicker. Look, I understand these players must be running on fumes right now. But I do not understand how we can go from the performance on Wednesday in the CL to this drudgery. Pioli and his rotations are killing us even more than the fatigue. It is absolutely CLEAR that that midfield is a huge problem this season without Kessie. Simple. No one is talking about it but the loss of his physicality in midfield is felt. I know why he's not keeping Bennacer on the pitch lik he would have done with Frank, who was a tank and never got injured. I think he worries about Benna's ability to stay fit if he were to use him as he dd with Kessie. That is why he is rotating him as much as he can. But at this point he has to find an alternative to the Pobega/Krunic BS which would still allow him to give Benna the rest he needs. Either give Vranckx time, because he's obviously good on the ball like Bennacer and capable of creating that space and time for himself which allows, someone like Tonali to bomb up and down without holding his position. Or, if you want to play with players like Pobega and Krunic, switch to a 3 man midfield. Enough with these guys in the double pivot! They cannot play in that position and while I do think Krunic did pull it off last season, even in important games against Lazio iirc, we were not playing like this back then. Tonali was actually played as a DM, not as a gallivanter. Pioli needs to find a solution and quick. Because games will still be coming quick and fast when we return from the WC break, and the midfield situation cannot remain as it is now

Gabbia, Pobega, Messias, Toure, Tata.
All not good enough to be on this team
And even worse, our lack of investment and terrible medical department keeps forcing us to have to rely on these players.

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Nov 5 2022, 11:17 PM) Yep. All Spezia level players. The fact that we're just 6 points off the top in 2nd after such a huge injury crises, is a testament to the mental strength and all that Pioli has built. That we're here now and expect a win every week even with all these important players missing from the team shows how far we've come I don't want to seem irrational or ungrateful, but we've shown that we can play much better than we did yesterday or against Torino. In fact we've shown this Jackyll and Hyde quality within the space of a few days just this week. Napoli will not keep up this pace. It is impossible. At some point they will stumble and it will probably be a big tumble, knowing them. So we have to make sure that we do not lose any more ground. As soon as that tumble comes, we have to be ready. Losing points against these types of teams is just not acceptable. Even with all the problems we've had to face. Pioli must find new solutions.
