we draw Spurs, inter-porto and Napoli-Frankurt

It will be very tough for Milan, yet the game starts at 0-0 and dreaming is not wrong. I hope Milan will have finalised Leao and Bennacer contracts by then.

CL draw this Monday, I fear whom we are paired against. At the top of this list comes Munich and the EPL team, those Milan have to avoid to stand a chance.

Then Madrid lead by Carlo, that is a situation I dont like either.

So what are we left with Porto and Benfica? Both are welcome in comparison to the rest. So yeah Id rather face a Portuguese side in the round of 16.

Tuned in for the Roma Napoli game in the second half.

Man are they on fine form! Roma held on for as much as they could, but Napoli got a well deserved 3 points. If they keep it up, they will most definitely be crowned with the scudetto.

Milan were the better side when they came face to face, but consistency wise and form wise, Napoli are having a spelndid season.

Game against Monza will not be easy, the team have won 3 out of their last 5 under a new coach. The opponents have a lot of motivation going into this fixture; first facing the Italian champions, second distancing themselves from a relegation battle and third B&G?s homecoming.

Those who claim they are a newly promoted side and Milan are expected to claim the 3 points by default should think twice.

All in all I dont know what to expect, except that Milan needs the 3 points to keep up pressure on Napoli.

No way!

Too f@cking soft!!!

If every time that happens it's a pen, then you have 3 pens a game at the least!

Ref is whistling on every attempt, it is not appreciated I agree. But it was, just like how Tonali's throwin led to Leao's goal earlier, when Leao would normally be offside. Technically he can't be offside from a throwing.

A man down and 2 goals conceded, not sure how Milan can salvage a point from this.

Not even the penalty!

In what world is that a pen, he barely put his arm across him FFS. If we're at the point when players can't do that then where have we come???

Technically it was a penalty, Tomori tugged on his shoulder from behind. Last player clear on goal? Yeah it was a penalty, the red card is a different matter entirely!

This ref will probably need an armoured escort out of Milan. The penalty is correct but the red card?

Nah man, this performance is on us

Just not there today, played a completely different game than we usually do. Timid, slow, ponderous.

It does not help that it feels like we're handicapped with these injuries and we have reserves that are just not good enough

Aside from the stat that Milan won only one game on English soil in 20+ professional games, Chelsea's bench seemed better than half of Milan's outfield players. The injury crisis plays a role here.

Timid, slow and ponderous, I agree with you. But this is the team that's fielded. A decimated one. We can go round and round playing the blame game, but truth be told, three years ago none of us would have forseen Milan being in the CL. Baby steps, and Milan could progress. How far? Not that far han, maybe just past the group stages. Then restart next season and improve on that etc etc.

So apparently out of 20+ official games Milan played on English soil, Milan only one one game. Care to guess which? Yup the one Kaka decimated United back in 2005.

Safe to say that statistic is testament to how Italian teams fare against the English.

Very important win. Thrilling finale, just as soon as they equalised I was going to turn off the TV but what a move under a minute later.

Against Chelsea it is going to be difficult. The team is spread thin. Then Juve and then Chelsea all back to back.

On the formation, I believe the team functions better in the 4231. A 3 backing will be difficult for the teams play in general, as they will need time to get familiar.

It's a daunting task ahead, win or loss Forza Milan!

Maldini, yesterday was asked on the status of Leao?s renewal.

His comments: We already started talking a long time ago, with Rafa, Bennacer and Kalulu. I always believe that what the player wants counts for a lot in these situations.

If I?m not mistaken, I think this means its more likely Leao will leave this summer and possibly Bennacer, if they dont agree a renewal before then.

An intense match!

Milan had chances and RB Salzburg had chances, a draw was a fair result considering Milan is not in accustomed to CL tempo as of yet.

I was impressed with Milan?s goal, started with CDK?s pass to get out of a pinch in Milan?s half then Bennacer pushed it forward quick to Leao and Salaemakers closed it off. A brilliant display.

I?ll take this draw considering the opponent was more than capable of taking all three points tonight. Though some of Pioli?s changes were questionable, I don?t doubt playing every 3 days is gonna take its toll on this team and introducing fresh legs is what allowed Milan to hang on and push hard till the final whistle. Let alone giving those that worked their socks off a breather, noting the packed schedule.

P.s. this Dest kid is an interesting player, his cross to Origi was on point. Give hik some time and he could be worthy of challenging for that RW slot!

The Bennacer and Leao renewals are the first big tests of this new ownership and how serious they are about taking us back to the top

Yeah, about that. Gazidis in his latest interview stated that the new owners Redbird will continue with the same strategy Elliott had going. And supported the current Milan management?s strategy of living within the clubs means.

I believe this is an indication that the salary cap will remain enforced and a war chest of a transfer budget is off the table.

I wouldn?t hold my breath here.

P.s. I do hope the management are able to reward their star players with contracts that match their talent/level. So us fans may enjoy them for longer, before they inevitably move on.

Terrible, terrible first half...

I wouldn?t call this terrible, the team is playing with a lot of chemistry. Pobega is showing he can hold his weight, while Magic Mike was spectacular in keeping a clean sheet (hint hint penalty).

Milan cant find space as the opposition is cautious, and that is the main culprit here. But I think in the 2nd half things could get interesting with subs.

Btw, Krunic's injury is apparently serious, so if the situation at midfield was dire before now we're at def con levels. We simply have to bring in someone decent for that position

Someone will come in, the team can not depend on just Bennacer and Tonali.

There is still time to close a deal.

Milan seems set to keep Gabbia and with the return of Kjear, the defense is not a priority anymore.

A midfielder of a certain calibre would come in, with Bakayoko leaving the club.

This, one million times.

Whoever comes as Kessie's replacement should be someone reliable but willing to warm the bench for the majority of the games. Tonali-Bennacer is our future.

Indeed!

And that type of player is available, who the player is is a mystery to only us. I have a conviction that Maldini and co have a shortlist of players they like. A CB and CDM will be added I believe, be that loan or outright purchase, that is a technicality the club has to manage. However for us fans, the mercato is still open and who knows what their next move could be.

It is somewhat of a disappointment, but nevertheless I believe Maldini and co have shortlisted names for midfield. They work behind closed doors and have not commented on any rumor thus far, which makes me feel at ease that what they got cooking is a player that adds value to the team.

Plus, I believe Bennacer should be given a first team role and the incoming player someone who rotates with Tonali and Bennacer. So in a way, I see Sanches not coming as giving more responsibilities to our Algerian talent.

A good showing from the team. Chemistry is so good. The team clicks and moves as a unit.

Form is not a constant, there will be ups and downs. But overall the team did well.

As for individuals, is still too early to judge. The team as a whole was in great form.

Next game is the season opener against Udinese.

Both a CB and a CDM will be brought in. The targets identified and Maldini/Massara are discussing/negotiating behind the scenes.

This CDK soap opera teaches us an important lesson in how they go about their business. I would not expect them to act on impulse. They have a main target and a fall safe target. They know what elements is needed in building this team as they know what the coach needs.

The more I zoom out and look in I see teams like inter digging deep holes in their balance sheet, while Milan are building a fortress of a balance sheet.

I like the way the dup are working.

@han Re- Messias signing, I honestly believe he deserves it. He is a player that doesn?t complain, keeps his head down and works for the team. Last year he was an outsider, this year he will be very much familiar with how to team functions and will be an asset for sure in providing quality/depth. Not a ballon d?or contender for sure but a great option to have coming off the bench.

Sales? I think with Kessie, Romagnoli, and Castillejo gone Milan have done enough. Saelemakers isn?t that bad, I don?t mind him at all. And now with CDK and Origi, he has a small Belgian community going for him. He most definitely will come in handy if you clock in the amount of games the be played + injury/fatigue factor. He would give that additional cushion for squad rotation. Don?t think Milan will be shipping him off. Even if Ziyech does come.

Btw R7, re Renato. I find it hard to believe that PSG want a player and wouldn't just complete the deal especially when the price is low because of an expiring contract. I don't know of it is us, them or the player holding up the deal. We'll see how it ends but I haven't completely lost faith that we'll bring him in. If we get him and CDK. I think we're good in midfield and attack. Ziyech would be a luxury signing and would make the messias signing even more of a head scratcher. Especially with Alexis still on the books

I read comments from Albertini when he was questioned about Milan?s transfer activities, he stated that Maldini and Massara started from a while ago and dont act on prematurely. So if the CDK deal closes, I have a strong feeling the Sanches deal will follow along with that Spurs CB.

Think the players already have an agreement, its just Milan negotiating for transfer fees that fit their budgets.

With Ziyech, he is either an alternative for Milan or Milan seriously want to bolster the front line, (Rebic, Leao, CBK, Ziyech, Origi, Giroud, etc) that is serious fire power.

Messias and Saelmakers are great options to have when your roster has either CDK or Ziyach or both.

This summer things are rather quiet at the HQ. But I remain optimistic as the club havnt even reacted to either positive or negative rumors. Which means there are moves being done, what we are being fed is media crap that only reveal the tip of the iceberg.

Take Sanches for example, the media keeps spinning things like his preferred destination is PSG, when the player himself has not come out publicly to state that.

I leave this with you to decipher the codes in the media as I give up on reading anything they spit out until Maldini himself comes shoulder to shoulder with the respective player and a contract in hand.
