Milan’s players do not want Andriy Shevchenko back, so the race for Thierry Henry is back on, according to reports.

President Silvio Berlusconi has long been sponsoring the return of Sheva from Chelsea and this week said the likelihood of this being achieved was “at 80 per cent.”

However, newspaper ‘Il Giornale’ claims this morning that both Coach Carlo Ancelotti and the squad are unhappy with the idea.

Above all Paolo Maldini, Gennaro Gattuso and Clarence Seedorf do not believe he should be welcomed back with open arms so soon after demanding a transfer to Stamford Bridge.

There are also issues over the price-tag, as Chelsea demand no less than £20m – which would already be a £10m loss on the money they paid only 12 months ago – but the Rossoneri won’t go above £6.7m for a one or two-year loan deal.

With Samuel Eto’o eager to stay at Barcelona – or join rivals Inter – Milan are instead turning their attention back to Arsenal’s want-away star Henry.

Reports of a deal with Barcelona have been denied by all the parties involved, so the Frenchman is still on the market.

Coach Ancelotti namechecked Henry as “one of the players we are very interested in” and he could be convinced by the opportunity to play alongside Ronaldo and Kaka.

Meanwhile, ‘Il Giornale’ also states that the negotiations for Edmilson have been abandoned so that Yoann Gourcuff can be given more space in midfield next season.

So Maldini, Gattuso, Ancelotti and Seedorf don't want him back? And Berlusconi and Kaka' want? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Kaka' wouldn't say "I hope Shevchenko comes" knowing that the captains and the coach don't want Sheva back.

Smokescreen IMHO all this Shevchenko/Henry talk. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I think it will be a tough summer in mercato

I don't understand
This are the only good strikers on the market?

Barcelona asks too much for Eto or Ronaldinho
Arsenal doesn't sell
Inter wants to sell Adriano only outside Italy

There must be other names on the transfer list
I didn't hear anything about Pato lately

Yep, IMO Henry and Sheva are both as good as it gets right now.

Pato...?? He is not in the same class, if we search for a star-striker.
Eto`o is inferior to either Sheva and Henry, but would cost us the same money..
Adriano? Hmh,..could be another back-up option... (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

This Shevchenko talk is too much ... Milan wont pay Chelsea more than 10M Sterling, a loan deal would be the ideal solution from Milan, but not for Chelsea (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

So I am not sure how this Shevchenko talk is gonna work out, if he comes back, I am sure he will return with his head hanging down.

I couldnt see Sheva coming back anyway, Chelsea wont let him go cheap, and Sheva will be reluctant to admit he made a mistake

Think of it as a relationship, is it a good idea to take your ex back? No, let it go and move on

That is exactly the case (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) But Silvio has other ideas (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I don't know how true this one is... but I remember God talking about Sheva's departure and the way it all went through... he was NOT happy!

That's the way to go captain!! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I think this is all a bit harsh on Sheva, and possibly the reason why alot of players don't want to join us.

It seems to me that you're expected to stay your whole career once you join Milan, until you either retire or they deem you not good enough anymore.

It's easy for players like Maldini to say this, he was born here, he supports the team. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I have to disagree kurt. Almost everyone on this forum, unanimously agrees, that while we were sad Sheva left, what pissed us off was the whole rigmarole he played, feeding us B.S about wanting to stay and be a Milan icon.

I think he probably said the same thing to all his team mates and that's what incensed them further. You work and play alongside a person for 7 years and consider him ur friend and then he does a screwjob...I don't blame any of the players mentioned...assuming it were true.

I would be (among)the last person(s) in the world to blame Sheva if he'd left for his family's wellbeing. Football is obviously only a part of his life, not all of it. Besides to choose between Sheva and Eto'o all sentimentality aside is a no-brainer. All you have to consider is current form and age.

The same with R10 and Sheva. I'd say Henry and Sheva would be at par, only just, coz Henry has to bear the cross of having flopped once in Serie A, and now having to readjust to life in Serie A, in a team where he's no longer the be all and end all.

Just my opinion. Obviously I've never been a Sheva fanatic, and no longer consider him Rossoneri. Just a part of a glorious past, and I'd prefer he stay there along with a host of beautiful memories. The future's still red and black. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devil.gif)

I agree the way he left was bad.

But he has a right to leave. It's not like he sprung it on people like everybody tries to make out (Sheva Considers Milan Exit). Silvio knew about this, and I have no doubt many of the senior players did, too.

Maybe it seemed like it was just sprung upon the fans, but it's not Sheva choice to decide when it's made public, that's down to Silvio.

I can believe everything, but one "I don’t understand how Sheva would like to come back"?

Where is his character? He betrayed us, and want to come back to us again (even though he dismissed it) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devilsmiley.gif) . I DONT LIKE HIM!!!
