this result does not mean anything but I think that something is wrong in milan system or motivation something is missing we lost 2-0 to this side I dont think anyone here even knew one player from their side and if it was someother side caoach would have been under immense pressure rite now

Doesn't change the fact it's a friendly and I would rather take the loss, then having the team work harder ahead of the game this weekend. Inzaghi got injured and that was enough for me. I think the team was distracted over other things going on...

Hrm. Here's the first paragraph of Mediaset's article about the game:

Tira un'aria pesante in casa Milan dopo il ko contro il Lugano in amichevole. Carlo Ancelotti non si è presentato in sala stampa e le parole dei giocatori rossoneri sono dure. Seedorf non le manda a dire: "Con tutto il rispetto non possiamo perdere con questa squadra. Certo era un'amichevole, ma dobbiamo chiedere comunque scusa ai nostri tifosi. Non possiamo certo andare a Genova con questo tipo atteggiamento".

[There's a heavy air at Milan after the friendly defeat to Lugano. Carlo Ancelotti didn't appear in the press room after the game and the words of the players are hard. Seedorf says 'With all due respect, we shouldn't lose against this team. Sure, it was a friendly, but we should end by apologizing to our fans. We surely can't go to Genoa with this sort of attitude.'] link to full article.

I now come to read about the game and the first thing I see is this... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)
Worrying! (to say the very least) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Just found out that we played today.

So... we lost 2-0 to the mighty Lugano? At least a draw... but losing again against a side like this one? Gijon defeat, Bologna's, City's, Chelsea's humiliation...

What's next? Get a 6-0 in the derby?

Er.. have you ever heard of a thing called depth? If our backups can't beat a Swiss 2nd division team, God help us when we get injuries this season.

6-1, thank you. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Just like the one we got against Juve, but with Paolo scoring our lone goal instead of Baresi. Let's leave the 6-0 defeats to other teams. The thing is we've got a pretty good excuse for these consecutive losses at friendlies, that they're just friendlies. I recall the 4-1 win our Juve, no one said it was a friendly then.

Valid point. But maybe our bench could have stepped up. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Or at least, the master tactician, Carlo himself for a change? Winning, and winning consecutively has it's perks and benefits, friendlies or not. It builds confidence for the team and the players. No wonder the coach has been having exclusive luncheons with Galliani and Braida, etc. One with Mr. B seems like a possibility soon.

Personally, I just hoped our bench showed some spine, keeping in mind this was a good opportunity for them to come out and shine. They won't be getting much action once the key players return, seeing as we're covered and have backup players in almost every position. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Still, like you said it was a friendly.

Beat me to it. Well said, Kurt. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/king.gif) Not much good came out of this match, however.

We played well and won, so obviously the fact that it's a friendly doesn't matter.

Why? Was there a trophy or something important attached to this game?

After Inzaghi got hurt I can see why they didn't. Winning friendly games don't mean anything honestly, and it wouldn't mean anything to me either way.

Some of them did do well, including Kaka.

Oh really? I can say the same thing about the English national team.

Milan has quite a bit of depth now though... but we still were missing key players. More than a few...

Abbiati; Bonera, Senderos, Maldini, Antonini; Cardacio, Emerson, Ambrosini; Seedorf; Inzaghi, Pato.

Don't tell me this team can't beat a 2nd division team.

Milan burns 120M/euros in salaries per year. That means we're not talking about only a great 11 but we actually have depth this year. At least on the paper...
