It makes absolutely no sense for a Turin-based paper to report on Milan news. I've looked at Gazzetta several times and don't see any Juve coverage.

Either way, it's an unfortunate situation for Nesta. It's weird reading about extensive injury problems like this, because it soon starts to give you the impression that it seems like an eternity since the last time they played.

Milan Leave Nesta Out Of UEFA Cup

Milan have confirmed their squad for the 2008/09 UEFA Cup competition and Alessandro Nesta will not be taking part.

The former Italian international has been suffering from a back problem which wasn’t thought to be serious, but he was not included to play for the Rossoneri in Europe.

This has led to rife speculation that Nesta will be out of action for the whole season and that he may even consider retirement.

Milan have always stated the back problem was nothing to dangerous but leaving Nesta out seems to suggest that something is not right.

The rest of the team makes the list and old war horses like Paolo Maldini and Giuseppe Favalli have been included by Carlo Ancelotti.

Here is the 25 man squad which the club have submitted to UEFA:

Goalkeepers: Dida, Abbiati, Kalac.

Defenders: Maldini, Kaladze, Zambrotta, Jankulovski, Favalli, Senderos, Bonera, Darmian, Pasini, Antonini.

Midfielders: Emerson, Gattuso, Pirlo, Ambrosini, Flamini.

Strikers: Pato, Inzaghi, Seedorf, Borriello, Kakà, Shevchenko, Ronaldinho.

The Rossoneri will be challenging for the UEFA Cup this term and they are amongst the favourites to win the tournament but they will need to find some form after a poor start to Serie A.

Typical Goal.com crap. They relish pulling stuff like this out of their asses.

I'm hoping were just trying to reduce the number of matches he plays and have him for most of the Serie A season.

That's what I'm thinking, this clearly shows our intentions towards the UEFA Cup...

If it's better for Nesta's fitness to reduce his number of matches then I'm all for it.

Or maybe he'll take a couple of months before coming back (hopefully not) and they didn't think it was neccissary to include him in this squad but he'll be included in the one after the winter transfer window closes...

Who knows, I'm sure someone from the club will shed some light on the situation

WHAT!?

THis can't be true, surely. If it is then 2 World class CBs are necessary in Jan '09.

That's just goal.com bullshit.

Till February we won't have any problem in the Uefa cup anyway, and we can add Nesta to the squad then. With his injury problems it make sense that the club want to take it easy on him. There is no need to panic yet.

Exactly Misha. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) No need to hit the panic button now, guys. Besides it's Goal.com. I'd have expect those funkers to reports Nesta is dead, if he had fallen out of bed yesterday and bruised his thigh. Yes, they'd go that far.

I only visit Goal.com for funny stories more so, even funnier comments. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) It isn't the Herald Tribune, you know.
