QUOTE (CHU-LIP @ Jan 4 2011, 06:36 PM) Thiago Silva should play as central defender. No point in moving the best defender to defensive holding midfield where we got good options with Ambrosini and Strasser What's the point in dropping a good preforming Ambrosini so you can play your best defender as midfielder, and you will play with a weaker defense?
And Zambrotta should play as left-back, not Antonini please. Anyway, the first post shows what we are lacking. No forward on the bench, how many defenders are benched there? Sad we actually need a new defender also, a left-back obviously. CHU-LIP:It's only a temporary solution.Cmon Yepes should be able to handle games like Cagliari...We kinda need Silva in that midfeild.I remember you guys wanting him to play as an Am,lol.

Ok,I will try to convince you.
Now,the thing with this formation is that it will allow our fullbacks to forward;they also won't need to defend deep, they'll be in the midfeild. Our fullbacks basically suck at defending, but are pretty ok on the attack.
Now if our attack is starting from the back,Nesta will either try the long ball or give the ball to the midfeild. This time the long ball thingy won't work, because we don't have Ibra playing. So,we want some proper build up play.
Ambrosini's passing is really bad these days,it's been proven for like 3 consecutive matches,he cannot be a crucial part in our build up play.He will sit in front of our defence, then give the balls to the fullbacks or Seedorf whose will probably lose this ball,or will be too deep in attack.
Or,he can give the ball to Gattuso.Although,Gattuso's performances has been great these days. But still,he always has been only a destroyer/ball winner in midfeild. He usually passes it to the playmaker Pirlo who is injured now.
Having Silva, beside those too would really help. Why?Because Silva's technical qualities are great,he isn't only a defender, but he is fully capable of passing the ball with percision. He will play a role of a deep playmaker,Ambro+Gattuso will cover him.The fullbacks will be in an advanced position, and also Ambro will attack from time to time.
So overall,in the defense phase:First wall:Ambro-Gattuso Second Wall:Yepes-Silva-Nesta The fullbacks will mostly battle it out in the midfeild.
In the attacking phase:Ambro-Gattuso covering silva and the fullbacks(Ambrosini with the occasional runs forward),Silva:deep playmaker,Fullbacks:Attacking, almost midfeild role, other positions are kinda the same.
Kinda my longest post here ;p I may be wrong bout some stuff,Don't kill meh.

QUOTE (Brian Birkin @ Jan 5 2011, 04:41 AM) Would be tempting to see FantAntonio at once. He must be mentally prepared, I wish he is physically. I actually wish he's mentally repaired.

Is weed a banned drug in football? It's not performance enhancing...I assume we could get Cassano stoned and that would keep him chilled out right?

No people are just debating on whether Thiago should play as DM, which imo is not a good idea, no use removing a player from a position where he is very strong in order to play him in a position that he's not even very familiar with, especially when we're up to our eyeballs in DMs
Personally I would like to see Seedorf playing in the CM position, I really hate the idea of having 3 DMs like ours which are all basically destroyers and not that good on the ball. Cassano can play behind the strikers, he looked fit enough to me in the friendly and has been training with the team during the entire training camp, so he's more then ready.
