So, as some of you know, I took a long time out from both the forum and the club - it had reached a point where the fights between fans were unbearable and the football itself unwatchable.

I was racking my brain trying to figure out tonight what it is about right now which makes this current regime just seem a lot better and I think I've sussed it. Tell me if you agree.

From the sacking of Allegri onwards, we've not had a single manager to understand Milan and what we need. What we had were stubborn ex-players with poor ideas, low budgets and some horrific signings.

From Brocchi, to Seedorf to Pippo and Montella - these guys just weren't the right coach at all to lead the club. They brought in frankly woeful players, garbage like Silva and Kalinic - just absolute rubbish who weren't the right stuff to play in our shirt, and our identity got lost.

Then we make two horrible Juve errors - both Bonucci and Higuain epitomised the scrapheap our club was on, taking Juve's unwanted sloppy seconds and making a ridiculous song and dance about it.

It was kind of the final straw.

Now that rubbish is gone, and Rino has taken over - he's put on his stamp to the team, a feel to the team which makes it look like a new and identifiable version of Milan. They're not the class of old yet, but he's making his players work for him, and we demand that at the very least.

He's also done remarkably in the transfer market - whether it was Leo or Rino, under this regime the signing of Piatek is a game-changer. He's a phenomenon and looks like potentially our best striker since Shevchenko. He's that good. Different kind of player, yes, but 25 in 26 this season tells everything you need to know about how good he is.

Add some wise additions, like a resurgent Bakayoko, and an impressive Paqueta and suddenly we have something which feels right.

It's fourth in the table, and there on merit. Rino was a slow burner, but unlike every coach before him, he seems to be figuring something which makes Milan work - sure, Montella also temporarily looked like the dog's b*llocks too, but Gattuso is one of us, and that passion, that dedication is making things click.

It's not Scudetto winning Milan yet, nowhere near it, but it's the first time we've genuinely seen believable progress.

Let's hope it continues.
