I do a fair bit of translation of Italian language articles and thought perhaps some folks might be interested in translations of common Italian football terms. Let me know if you have questions or other terms to be translated.

Calcio - football
Squadra - team
Allenatore - coach
Portiere - goalkeeper
Difensore - defender
Terzino - (left- or right-) back
Centrocampista - midfielder
Trequartista - playmaking midfielder (ie, a Rui Costa)

Attacante - striker
Rete - goal
Autorete - own goal
Rigore - penalty
Calcio d'angolo - corner
Calcio di punizione - free kick
Tuffatore - diver
Vaffanculo - f*ck you, commonly heard in chants to the opposing team at stadiums
Curva - literally, the curve. the section behind the goals where the ultras sit
Diffidata - On warning (one yellow away from suspension)
Squalificati - Suspended
Fallo - foul
Fallo di mano - hand ball
Fallo da ultimo uomo - last man foul
Gomitata - elbow
Ammonito - Warned (ie, yellow card)
Espulso - Expelled (ie, red card)
A Riposo - At rest (rested)

Thanks, I'm sure this will come in useful when reading through stuff on the web. Using online translators is a terrible idea, they just confuse things even more!
