QUOTE (han2503 @ May 29 2023, 03:10 PM) I agree there.
Actually I would assign ownership with the biggest blame. Maldini and Massara had clear plans for last summer. All of which where thwarted by the needlessly long negotiations for their own contracts, which should have been handled before the summer window even started and a shoe string budget set by the new ownership
Botman and Sanches would have been improvements and stepping stones for what was a good team that won the league but still needed work. Instead we ended up with panic buys and a major mistake in CDK Botman, yes. Would have been a superb addition. With Sanches we dodged a bullet. As expected his season's been full of injuries. You could argue we'd still have been better off with him than without him, but I'd prefer staying away from such injury prone players. We'll see who we're going to add in midfield this summer. With Bennacer out until December, we need at least two new additions. Also, with Kamada coming in and Asensio leaving Madrid, there's talk that Real want Brahim back. But he wants to stay with us. Honestly, considering he has a 22 million buy-in clause, I'd rather spend those money elsewhere, such as for: Messaggero: Lazio resigned to losing Milinkovic-Savic as Milan eye 30m deal |

QUOTE (han2503 @ May 28 2023, 09:56 PM) No, he should go.
Grateful for all he's done, but this team has out-grown him
What was previously an exciting high press system has turned into a stale, static mess.
I'll always hold him in high regard as he is the one who turned this rag-tag bunch of players into champions, but he's reached the limit of what he can give to this team imo. If we keep him next season I fear it will get even worse I'm not a Pioli fan by any means, but look at his track record. He inherited this team from the gutter and in the last 3 years he achieved 1) CL football after 7 years, 2) Scudetto with an inferior team to the competition, 3) CL semi-finals after 16 years and CL football again. Yes, we've played like sh*t this season, but perhaps Pioli is not the main culprit here. This team overachieved last season, and when you overachieve, unless you strengthen your squad properly, you're most probably going to flop next season. I would personally blame management first, then the players, and then Pioli. In that particular order. |

QUOTE (han2503 @ May 28 2023, 10:11 PM) Btw, just want to add. What a truly terrible game that was. From both sides. Really horrible. Full of errors and wtf moments. Krunic especially p!sses me off so much when he's f@cking about with the ball in our box. Just insanely stupid at times. Cannot take watching these players start for us anymore.
Messias... My God! Just awful! How is he starting over Alexis? Offers absolutely nothing but mistakes
Krunic. He's a good/average players, but he needs to go back to being our bench option. Not replacing Kessie has proven to be one of the dumbest moves ever and it's basically cost us the season. Now with Bennacer potentially out for nearly 6 more months. We have to go all in for a starting mid, and that cannot be Loftus-f@cking-Cheek! Stop with the bargain buying! We should have cash to burn this summer. It better be used wisely. Milenkovic -Savic is available. He's not going to renew his contract and Lotito will have to play ball or lose him for free. Just go all in for him! And then you can f@ck about going for players like RLC.
The midfield, our strongest area last season, needs serious work. Pobega needs to be moved on, Vranckx isn't good enough, Krunic should be rotation and we'll also need a decent backup for Bennacer.
The attack... We need a proper striker who's strong and mobile. We cannot rely on Giroud like we do now. Messias, Origi, Rebic. All have to go.
The defensive situation is not as dire. A decent backup for Theo and another CB maybe so we can shift Kalulu to the right and we should be fine. Tata and Mirante should be gone with Sportiello most likely being the first incoming of the summer
So much work to be done. Hopefully we have the budget to do it. SMS would be a top signing, but I also feel we need some creativity in that midfield. Nobody, not even Bennacer has it. We need some sort of Seedorf-esque type of player that can play both AM and CM. Calhanoglu was it, but he was mostly sh*t with us and suddenly decided to become good at Inter. Fabrizio Romano posted a few minutes ago that the Kamada deal is almost settled and done. The guy is an AM. I have no idea how good he is cos I've never seen him play. But that means that either CDK or Brahim will leave. Also, the RW and CF situations need to be addressed. We need two quality signings in those areas. And I mean top quality, not another Origi or another Saladmaker. |

QUOTE (han2503 @ May 13 2023, 06:59 PM) Can't even muster up the energy to get p!ssed at this point.
Pioli is done
But the complete lack of quality once you go beyond the first 11 is all the fault of the ownership
We won the scudetto last season and instead of taking a step forward we took a step back quality-wise.
The loss of Kessie is a major reason for where we are now imo. We lost the dominance we used to hold in the midfield when we lost him. Krunic is just not good enough and replacing him with Pobega is an insult.
Add to the fact that we lost an important player, we did not improve areas that we've known needed investment for over 2 years now.
Still no decent RW, still relying on semi-retired players upfront, no proper midfield to replace Kessie. The CDK move was a complete bust. Origi was a even worse. The ownership failed this team and Pioli has failed this club as a whole as well. Prioritizing CL KOs when it's do or die in the league to make top 4 is beyond the pale. Consistent CL football is a must. We're going to lose out on that next season so a CL semi this season and getting embarrassingly thrown out by Inter while missing out on top 4 will look incredibly stupid once the season is over
It is clear at this point that certain players cannot be part of the team next season. They cannot be relied on, even for minor rotation purposes, let alone playing top 4 decider games.
All the points we've lost in 2023... Against so many terrible teams, it's just not acceptable. Pioli simply has to go. It's clear there is no longer a clear playing style. I'm back to watching this team as I did during the banter era. With dread about approaching games. It's terrible stagnant football. This team under Pioli was once exciting, quick, high press. Now it's just trudging along and passing aimlessly for 90 minutes while barely creating any clear cut chances against relegation battling sides Pioli is to blame, no doubt. But there's so much you can do when the quality of your roster is this. Let's be honest, the only good players we have are Maignan, Tomori, Theo, Tonali, Bennacer and Leao. And even they are very inconsistent. The rest are just mid-table level duds. I was talking with a friend of mine earlier, he said you guys have no quality in midfield. Nobody who can create anything. And he's right. Look at Inter. They've got Calhanoglu, Barella, Mkhitaryan and Brozovic with incredible vision and passing skills. That's where they win their games. Because their defense is mediocre and their attack is not as good as we made look to be on Wednesday. We got none of that. Not even in our starting players. We need to invest in a couple of quality mids for next season at all cost, aside from the obvious holes we have upfront. But to make such investments we need money, and securing no CL for next season will be disastrous in that aspect. |

QUOTE (han2503 @ May 13 2023, 06:38 PM) Pobega, Ballo-Toure, CDK, Origi, Rebic. Just terrible all season
Taking off Brahim and Theo, our only hope for a goal is just peek Pioli of 2023. Cannot take it anymore with him No point in analyzing anything. We're plain sh*t. An embarrassment. |

Too depressed to write anything after the game.
What a shitshow. These players should be embarrassed of themselves. This is a CL semi-final. The whole world is watching. And to put a pathetic performance like that, it brings shame to us all Milan fans. Absolutely disgusting.
We are so, so lucky to get out this only 2-0. True, we could have scored a goal in the second half, but it's equally true that Inter could have scored 4-5 in the first.
Pioli is a mediocre manager. Once again he's proved it. After four years of managing this team he still has no idea to challenge Inter. We're always being overrun by them. Even those few times we've beaten them, it's always been either due to Inter being in poor form or episodes. We've never really dominated them.
Can't see us turning this around. Leao will be back, but Bennacer's season is over. Arguably our best midfielder. Inter won this game in midfield. Look who they have, and look who we have. Still clinging to the likes of Krunic, Brahim, Messias and Saelemaekers for crying out loud. These are bench players at best. AT BEST.
Let's just hope we don't suffer another debacle that will be remembered for the next 20 years or so... |
