QUOTE (han2503 @ May 18 2008, 11:30 PM)
We used to play 4-3-1-2 with attacking fullbacks also, now we play with CB on the wings when we already have to defensive mids on either side of midfield.

And Janku and Oddo last season were in form it worked in the CL, but now with Favalli and mostly Bonera, plus the 2 defensive mids and another one when Pirlo is suspended, I'm surprised that we manage to get the ball anywhere near the opposition's penalty box (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

This season's failure might have been party down to the management's fault for not ensuring that the team is equiped enough to last the long season that we were about to face but it's also partly down to Carlo's stubbern actions and his unwillingness to take the game to the opposing team, when in the past we always went out to play our own game rather then counter that of the opposition by implementing defensive rigid tactics that have proved time and again that they don't work
*

Our situation in 2007-08 in one word was mishmash. lots of injuries, bad form, full backs that couldn't cross, CB[s] that gifted precise chances to the opponent, keeper[s] that redefined what a bad keeper is [though Dida is not to blame!], etc, etc. we should be happy we finished just two points behind the fourth placed team!

Hopefully those things will get mostly sorted during this summer

1. New first choice keeper
2. 1 class CB
3. LB (hopefully Zambrotta)
4. Some form of creative mid that would be comfortable playing in any position in our midfield
5. Good in-box striker to replace Gila and be our first choice since Pippo is not reliable on the injury front and we can't depend on him
6. A second striker (R10 could fill in this spot and also be a sub for Kaka in the attacking mid position, if not R10 then someone like Eto'o or Benzema)

We need at least those 6 players to become competitive in the league again. I'm not holding my breath for it to happen though...

+1

Plus we need someone who can take free kicks! that's very important! Pirlo is not good at it anymore and I doubt he'll be the same free kick taker again! R10 would be the perfect solution to many of our problems, provided he finds his form back.

I think that with the right guidence R10 will get back to his best, probably not to 100% but I think we can atleast get him back up to 90% of his full potential

What? You expect two hot blooded Rossoneri supporters to be in mourning, when the most gorgeous girls of Arabia hang on a thread hoping for a visit from the pirate king and this trusted sidekick, Sheikh Rossoneri? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

We saw Iron Man (again)...and the thing this boy gets upto with the girl sitting next to him. Hooooo....I'm no prude....but damn R7 works fast. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I wasn't quite done with the babes in his harem, so I had to conserve myself a lot. It's why I haven't been posting much...sorry! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

So anybody has any clips on Cafu's/Sergio's farewells?

Btw...has Milan ever given a testimonial to non-Italian players?

It's not the Captain I was worried about that much, I knew he was on his way to the Shriek's Palace. It's Dst that's been missing. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Haven't seen him (or her) on ever since he went to San Siro, and frankly we need him here, and get his post count meter moving. Dst and Miz (now that Dida could very well be offloaded).

Finally,...the last 2 days I've been sitting home alone with a flu and no internet connection. But of course, I've watched the photofinish and our 4th place battle.

What to say? ZDR's words are right - mischmasch. We could have played CL football next season. We could have sealed the 4th spot, against Napoli. Fiorentina made many mistakes, but we made one too many.

This season should be one from which we must profit. Profit by learning many lessons.

1) We need reliable players who are willing to give 100% and are determined to win. Such players must outnumber the older, more relaxed players - like Gattuso, Favalli or Pirlo especially.

2) Ancelotti has to stop playing that enclosed and craven tactic or Slivio will loose his nerves. In fact, if it was for the old Silvio, he'd sacked him after the first 4 games with 1 striker. Maybe Galliani thinks the fans belive in the Kaka and Seedorf as strikers story but Silvio...
That only shows us how things eventually change. With Carletto and with Berlusconi. But I hope they did learn something out of this mess. That's why I keep on supporting them.

3) We need to invest in our team systematically and with a clear strategy. That's all. I'm not gonna say who should end, be released or retire. That's up to themselves.

I've got a couple of questions: are Seedorf and Rino leaving? And what's with Maldini?

Zvone Boban was the last non-italian Milan gave a testimonial I suppose..

What shall I say after this season?
I should make clear that I'm not willing to join the club of people who are making fun of R7 because of his optimism. It turned out he was wrong and other people (including myself) were right. That said I wish he would have been right and I respect him a lot because of his trust in this team.

As for other things there's nothing I could say I (or others) wouldn't have said already. We need new players, we need some freshness etc.
