Milan fans say no to Sheva
Sunday 6 April, 2008

(IMG:http://milanosiamonoi.myblog.it/media/01/01/e0a68f5e9b426857c3b86e5cb88f3b7c.jpg)

Milan’s supporters staged a protest last night criticising the club’s transfer policy and the possible return of Andriy Shevchenko.

The Ultra group Old Clan handed out leaflets to the crowd in and around the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza for Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Cagliari.

It contained a list of seven complaints to the club after general manager Adriano Galliani pointed out the fans should not criticise Milan considering the last 20 years of silverware.

“The President is absent and no longer has the motivation or the desire to invest that he did before,” was among the leaflet’s statements.

“The only smart signing of the past three years has been Alexandre Pato. Enough of players on the downward slope of their careers and continual fitness problems.

“Ariedo Braida spent two weeks in South America scouting for talent and returned with the disappointing Leandro Grimi.

“The many season ticket holders have been taken for a ride by broken promises, a squad that is not up to the standard of Milan with great stars who instead joined the opposition.”

The most forceful point was made against the possible return from Chelsea of former crowd favourite Shevchenko.

“We absolutely rule out Shevchenko, who is 32 and would fill the only non-EU slot, preventing Milan from signing a younger and better player.”

In Italy clubs can only sign one non-EU player from a foreign League per season.

And obviously I'm with them.

Wow this is spot-on.

Their interpretation is correct. Pato has been the only good signing (Bonera has been decent). I liked their comment bout Braida and Grimi, funny.

the fans have spoken. when they jeer it's mainly because of this and maldini should knows this, even tho i love him he really shouldn't criticize them. anyways what was highlighted above is 100% true, there is no beating around the bush on this one even though some want to make excuses.

I agree with the fans.

The only minor quibble I'd have is that I think, on whole, Bonera has been a pretty good signing. He's shown more than I expected him to.

i would throw oddo in that group of good signings as well...he hasn't been great...but he was a key role in the last half of our season last year.

I agree as well, our tranfer seaons have been somewhat lackluster in the recent years.(IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) But i won't go as far as to say Pato is the only good signing we've made in 2 or 3 yrs... but he is by faaarrr the best of late. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
We have surely havent added much depth to our side (or should i say worthwhile depth to our side as I believe we could have in recent years, if we did we proberly wouldn't have been in the situation we are currently in; regarding our Champions League Exit, massive and frequent injuries as well as a rush for 4th and final CL place) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)
And as far as Shevchenko is concerned, I for one would welcome him back to the San Siro (granted ofcourse he plays well and re-adapts quicly), however seeing he would take an enitre Non-Eu spot and he wont be guranteed to succed, I think it would be wiser going for a younger singing who is also talented (this would prove a better gamble) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)
...Concering Ronaldinho as we are reffering to transfers - I would aslo welcome him to the San Siro, I would actually welcome him with open arms, especially given the fact that rumors state he could possibly leave Barca for around 20 Mil Euros. (In my eyes its sort of a bargain, I really am not to pleased to be hearing the rumors that he may end up at Inter though (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) , even though I belive Murhnio to possibly be going to Inter come summer, and i can't see the two co-existing - so should this come to past i can't see him going there, also given the fact that that Milan holds a large Brazilian contingent record & Inter is known rather for its Argentines. And to top it off he knows of Berlusconi's great admiration for him, so i really hope should he leave Barcelona that he picks us.) It seems the fans see thing the way I do, yet to some I'm not a fan! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

It's about time the fans made their voices heard, and respect to them for doing so. I wonder how Galliani will respond to this? i just hope this will kickstart some real action in the transfer market (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

As for Pato being the smartest signing, I think what they mean is that he's the one with the most potential. Gila was already established but hasn't lived up to expectation, same with Oddo. Bonera on the other hand is punching above his weight IMO (like Kalac) and really is only good enough to be a sub.

I'd forgotten about Braida's holiday to Brazil (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) seems funny that all he brings back is Grimi while Leonardo (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif) finds us Kaka and Pato (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) . Again I think Leonardo should take over from Galliani, perhaps Billy coud help him? We definitely need someone young and ambitious in charge of transfers IMO.

I wonder how Don Silvio will fee now that the fans have spoken up against his 'son' returning? It seems the bitter taste is still there from when he left. I'm again in total agreement with the fans on this as I feel Sheva returning would be for sentimentality reasons rather than footballing reasons (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

All I can say is Forza Tifosi (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devilsmiley.gif)

Brida scouted three players in that visit with gago, higuain and grimi. he higly recomneded gago but according to others in the managment our midfield was too gud so and higuin was picked by real so we were left wid grimi it is not brida fault

... (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) ...

So there's no real Milan fan in Milan!

Well done guys, you have one extra reason than we do to complain since you are season ticket holders! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
