QUOTE (X-Offender @ May 31 2014, 05:22 PM) Italy playing tonight. I read that Prandelli could go with 4-1-3-2 in the WC. De Rossi Verratti - Pirlo - Marchisio Balotelli - Cassano Looks strange. And I read that tonight he'll mostly play some of the players that could be left behind come Monday

Well that's just great!
Don't get why he was even playing the first choice players in a stupid friendly.

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Jun 1 2014, 12:23 AM) I feel bad for him, but it doesn't change anything for Italy. I don't think that's the case at all. He's an important element in the midfield. What he does when Italy are playing a diamond, no one can really do in that selection of midfielders. I think it's a big loss for Italy, especially if Prandelli's alternative in that role is Candreva QUOTE (dst @ Jun 1 2014, 02:12 AM) Oh come on! What?? Monto when playing a diamond midfield is crucial for Italy in that midfield. Him and pirlo basically act some form of strange role reversal due to their positions. Pirlo does all the creative stuff while Monto does the dirty work from higher up the pitch, which allows the Italy midfield to press the ball high up the pitch and win it back quicker. This was done in the Euros and some of the qualifying games

What dst means, han, is that the injury could have come at anytime. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) In the first match of the World Cup, within the first 10 minutes, or in another such friendly or anything. Heck, if we are going by this logic of blaming the coach for playing the first choice players, I'd much rather blame the players first for getting injured. And trust me, I know injuries. Ronaldo was injured left and right, and this fact was always on my mind.

This was done in the Euros and some of the qualifying games Dude, you have a serious crush on Montolivo. The guy is average at best, nothing special. Italy have plenty of midfielders better than him. If Prandelli wants to play a diamond, then he should play a proper trequartista, not frigging Montolivo.
