QUOTE (mchanna @ Jan 9 2007, 08:06 PM)
how is grimi and the primavera doing?

Sounds like they're doing well. Grimi & Favalli have swapped positions.

Favalli... he's score twice since he came to Milan and has only featured in a couple or so of games, right?? He seems to be doing way better than Borriello... (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)

No, but that's where Ancelotti has put him. He's a striker, he's the top scorer for Milan Primavera.

I know, I think Ancelotti has lost it! At the start Bruscagin was at left back then he changed him to right back for the 2nd half!

Last year Aubameyang in primavera played also in midfield sometimes, because Ardemagni was the first striker, so Ancelotti hasn't lost it. It's a friendly so he is also trying some new things.

Great. Sounds like it was a good warm up for the team and I'm glad Carletto tried out new things for a change. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Finally found some time to write me 'match review' (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

First off Milan most probably regarded this match as a possession training session.

The first goal was a piece of brilliance by Pirlo and some great finishing by Oli, the ball was chipped over the defence by Pirlo, to find Oli who had timed his run perfectly. Gila and Oli where linking up pretty nicely also in attack and both where unlucky not to score 2 each but Birkirkara's keeper was having a very good first half. Gila had a header literally scooped from underneath the bar as it was going in.
We went into half time with just a 1-0 lead, but it should have been much higher, but credit to the Birkirkara players who where really pressing our players every time they got the ball (that was pretty much there tactic for the entire match to double team or even triple team the player with the ball, this went on until they got tired, that’s when the other goals started to flow in).

In the second half Carlo practically changed the whole team except for Bruscagin who moved in at right back which allowed Grimi to step in in the LB position. We took a little time to get back into the stride of things after half time because of the whole change in the team. This is when the chances for Birkirkara came (just 2 though). But after their 15 minute spell of "attacking" they got tired and that's when they started to leave gaps for Seedorf to work in. The second goal came from a cross from Boriello from the left, Pippo shot but it was saved Seedorf took the rebound from just inside the box and shot it in a practically empty net. The third was a run from deep in midfield from Seedorf, Favalli ran with him, Seedorf fed him the ball as he was on his run and Favalli shot it in from just inside the box (this was probably our best goal of the match). Our 4th and 5th was Pippo the poacher at his best (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) .

I’ll try to find some good highlights later in no one can find any.

About the primaveras. Bruscagin was the most impressive, he played the entire match and was pretty solid throughout. He switched flans in between halves, and was good on both but didn't go forward much when he switched to the right flank, I'm guessing it's because this isn't his natural position.

Di Gennaro was average, he didn't do much, Willy was good, and Guerci was good also. But neither one of them did anything special.

Facchin the primavera goal keeper was VERY impressive he made a great save from a header from point blank range, and made another couple of great saves. I think he's even better then Kalac and that useless Coppola we bought for no reason.

About Grimi, he doesn't have that much of an imposing physical stature, but he was winning a lot of headers against a guy that was practically twice his size, but he does tend to get out muscled easily, but that is something that could easily be worked on at milanello. His sense of positioning is good, and also his distribution of long and short passes from the defence is very good. But the best thing he was doing was sending out cross field lobs right to the attackers, our last 2 goals came from his long balls from the defence and we also created another great chance from one of his long balls, they where all very accurate, each time practically landing at the feet or head of one of our attackers. All in all he was pretty impressive, although this was a game against Birkirkara, but considering it was his first game for Milan I think he did pretty good.

btw sorry guys but I can't show you any pics cause my bro lostthe camera on our way back, I think he left it on the bus or something.
