Nah man, we had a few worse than this last season

Spezia (H), Bologna (H), Salernitana (A), probably a few others as well that I cannot remember

Our problem is that if we do not have the energy to press opponents for whatever reason, we struggle to create chances when teams sit deep. Both Atalanta and Sassuolo played much deeper than they usually play, or as we have become used to in the past, we didn't bring the energy levels in either game and f@cked away 4 points in the space of a week and a half.

This obviously stems from having players like Salaemakers and Diaz ghosting, while Leao has no in between, he's either white hot or a dead fish

I don't know if they're over doing it in training or if they're still conditioning and have prepared for this season differently because we usually start the season under Pioli steaming out of the blocks. Don't know what's going on but the energy levels and general form don't look good.

At least in those games we scored or created chances. Tonight it was just blank. I can't honestly recall one good chance. Actually, we have to thank Maignan for not walking out empty handed. Truly an ugly, messy, idealess and soulless performance.

And let's be honest, we haven't exactly shined in any of these first four games. Against Udinese they gifted us 3 of the 4 goals, against Atalanta it was similar to tonight, against Bologna we won doing the bare minimum, and then tonight. After all that exciting pre-season, this is a huge, huge dip in performances.

We have to wake the f*ck up cos next there's Inter and Salzburg, and we can't mess up again.

How the f*ck did we let the game slip up like that??? 3-1, in total control, then a stupid goal and we crumbled completely. Maignan was superman today. He saved our @sses.

We were.

First 20 minutes - Poor, Inter were just slightly better.
Mins 20-65 - We dominated, and created many chances.
Mins 66-76 - Total blackout. Inter equalise and we risk conceding the 3-3 but Super Maignan saves our asses.
Last 15 mins - More balanced yet we could have controlled the game better. Inter didn't create anything dangerous.

We're really starting to stamp our dominance on Inter now. This last decade they pretty much shat on us throughout, even when they were as sh!t as us, we couldn't seem to buy a derby win. Really great to see us toying with them at certain points.

And this is exactly the sort of performance I've wanted to see from the start of the season. High pressing, creating chances because of that high pressure, Tonali bursting through the midfield, Bennacer was everywhere. And I think CDK really helped us in neutralizing Brozovic in a way that we hadn't managed in any of the recent derbies.


Yep, great break down, although I do think those first 20 minutes were even, neither team really threatened.

I think Pioli's subs really impacted the swings at the 66th and 77th minutes marks. Brahim coming on imablanced us as a bit, not his fault, he's just a different player to CDK and far less imposing, thought he grew into the game as it went on but had a bit of trouble at first. The Di Marco sub also gave us issues we hadn't had before as he marauds a lot more forward than Bastoni and the Dzeko goal cam because Calabria got outnumbered. However, the Kjaer and Pobega subs calmed things down and we adapted to Inter's changed with those subs. Shifting Kalulu to RB and having someone like Kjaer who's a calmer presence in the center was a good move from Pioli. Pobega gave us some fresh legs

One major criticism, the defending.

We still haven't managed to find the kind of defensive shape we had at the end of last season. That comes down to the midfield as well, that first Inter goal was ridiculous. Everyone went after the ball and left a highway for Brozovic to run through in the center. 2nd goal was the usual BS we've seen in every one of the games this season, everyone switching off and falling asleep in moments when they should be switched on. At least we didn't f@ck up on any of the set-pieces
