Yes, Musacchio was very good. Great reading of the play and anticipations. I think with him, Bonucci and Romagnoli we have a top notch defense.

The issue is, if we're going to play with a 3-man defense, and assuming we'll play with two strikers, then both Bonaventura and Suso will be left out of the starting line-up.

I think both will get ample time as they'll rotate with Silva and Hakan. I still think Bona will start ahead of Hakan for now though

He could also use a 4-man back line until Romagnoli returns from his injury as well.

Well. That was certainly worth getting up at 5am for. Such a difference between the BVB game and this one. There were the hints of fluidity and cohesion in the team play and some of the new guys (Kessie, Musaccio and Calhanoglu) looked good. It's cause for some optimism.

As for formation, I suspect we'll eventually see a 3-5-2 when everyone is fit. The 4-1-4-1 didn't look too bad today though.

Well we did switch to it today once Bonucci came on and Montella has already said that he could use it, we have the players for it, why not use it? It certainly beats a 4-3-3 without wingers

Well I thought he was more flashy in that game, but today he showed his defensive instincts are top notch, hope we can manage to keep him and Romagnoli fit for the majority of the season

Wasn't a 4:3:3 at all whatever the Milan Twitter claimed. It was clearly 4:1:4:1 switching to 4:2:3:1 in defensive modes.

Monto sat in front of defence, while there was a bank of Kessie, Jack, Niang and Borini with Cutrone up top.

That saw Kessie coming back and defending when need be - and he looked great in the box to box role he's clearly more comfortable with.
