We (Milan) has got awful pressure on us in when it comes to qualify for the CL.
But in 2005, Liverpool finished 5th, and they were allowed to play qualifying rounds.
As Milan has been a far more succesfull club in the CL than Liverpool, should not we be granted the same?

Only the winner on the CL gets to play in the competition, even if the team is at the bottom of the table. That is why Liverpool got back into the competition (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

It was Everton who were favored in that occasion. But no I don't want the same to happen with Milan.

You need to win CL first. But we cannot rely on this

Exactly. It's risky to forget about the league and try an concentrete everything on the CL.

All it takes is one bad night in the CL and you're out.

But Liverpool didn't win the CL the year before!
They ended 5th in the EPL, went through the qualifying rounds and went on to win the CL, that fateful night at Ataturk...

Nope. They won the CL and took the 5th place in the same year. The qualifying rounds were season after they won CL

UEFA have changed the rules, for some reason the winners weren't guaranteed through before 2005, now if a team wins who aren't in the qualifying positions they go through to next seasons in place of the lowest place qualifying position in the league.

For example last year when Arsenal were in the final they weren't guaranteed to get 4th (I know they did in the end) but Tottenham were 4th and looked like they would go through to the Champions League. However if Arsenal won the Champions League last year, Tottenham would not have been able to go through even if they did finish 4th...

Hope that makes sense!
