More bad news coming from acmilan.com:

QUOTE
At Marassi against Sampdoria it's never been easy to win for Milan. The last victory for the Rossoneri was in the 2003/04 season, when Andriy Shevchenko, who had just become a father, finished off a great move by Serginho.

Not something new ... Milan have always found it hard against Sampdoria.

The two stadiums in which Milan are always in trouble are in Sicily and Genoa rolleyes.gif

We're already in deep sh*t.

But if we don't win this one, we're probably in the relegation zone in... November. Heads would roll... definately. And honestly I hope so.

Considering that we have not played with Inter (we will definitely lose -> -3 points) and Juve (-1 or -3 points) yet, I can do nothing but agree with that.

If we don't qualify for next season's CL campaign (yes R7 I know we're going to Moscow but anything could happen in a final! tongue.gif ), I think things will get back to normal with our board finally deciding to spend some money (considering the last transfer windows, that would be close to E200m!! rolleyes.gif )... I mean... sorry for that but... look at Bayern!

why wouldnt we want to be like bayern, imagine if bayern still had makay, pizzaro... they would be garbage again. the only way anything will be done is if we tank.

Posted by: Darunia Oct 30 2007, 05:27 AM

because missing the champion's league sucks.. it would be good for the future, but the present... Milan has to be bad, but still finish in the top 4 and get big changes at the same.. whether that is possible, i'm not sure.

It's a dilemma... personally I want Mourinho to come, so Milan has to do poorly for him to come, but I don't want Milan to do too poorly that they miss the champion's league. Then again, if we do well then we won't need Mourinho biggrin.gif

who knows how long this could go on, even if we start winning games that isnt going to solve anything. remember last season? we're playing just as bad and still had a bad season even with the penalties and look how many changes they made rolleyes.gif all i know is i would rather we suck now then win nothing for the next few years.

Posted by: Rossoneri7 Oct 30 2007, 07:52 AM

U guys are way waaaay dramatic about all this. Bayern were a team in decay a LONG time ago, ever since their final against United. Milan on the other hand is in a different situation; the team are missing one player. And that player is the one to unlock the scoreboards!

Cuz we had the same problem last season and once Ronaldo came, Milan started cruising wink.gif

Last season, at around december we were in the 18th or 15th place (cant quit remember, but in between) .. And we took off from there to reach a CL berth .. take a chill pill wink.gif

Posted by: dst Oct 30 2007, 08:40 AM

Of course Milan do not only miss one player!!!!

To challenge for the championship a team has to have a great bench... do not kid yourself! Our bench have even less motivation than our starting XI players...

Posted by: zdrossoneri Oct 30 2007, 02:54 PM

@ R7

Milan is missing only "one" player?! the whole team's performance was close to disaster on Sunday. with or without Ronaldo, we still need a lot a changes, it's so obvious that we shouldn't even argue on that.

Posted by: zdrossoneri Oct 30 2007, 03:01 PM

Oddo has failed to recover for this match. Ronaldo won't be there. Marek too.

We certainly miss more than one player.

Forget about Ronaldo he'll probably get injured again after a couple of games.

Gourcuff should start this match, I don't want to see Emerson or Brocchi on the pitch.

Posted by: Bluesummers Oct 31 2007, 03:35 AM

Yeah no ambro so forsure its brocchi in and emerson subbing later. Sigh... I doubt carlo would dare to put in gourcuff and give him a chance.

Starting 11 Possibility 1: Dida-cafu-nesta-kala-fava-gattuso-pirlo-seedorf-serginho-kaka-inzaghi

Starting 11 possibility 2:
Dida-cafu-nesta-kala-favali-gattuso-pirlo-brocchi-kaka-seedorf-inzaghi

Posted by: Darunia Oct 31 2007, 08:32 AM

What Carlo will probably go with:

Dida
Cafu-Nesta-Kaladze-Favalli
Gattuso-Pirlo-Brocchi
Kaka-Seedorf
Gilardino

I wish Gourcuff could get a start here in place of Brocchi/Emerson.. but that seems highly unlikely.

Posted by: zdrossoneri Oct 31 2007, 11:43 AM

It looks like Brocchi's going to play tonight. Our situation is bad enough, why Carlo wants to make it worse?! it's just silly playing all these defensive midfielders when winning the game is a 'must'. where is Willy?! I swear he can be more useful to the team than Brocchi, no matter where he plays [as a striker or an attacking midfielder], cause his pace and technique is clearly superior to that of Brocchi. I really hope Carlo finally wakes up and changes some of his moldy tactics! forget about the past seasons and what he has done for Milan, this season it's more than proved to everyone that Carlo should change something in the team, he should be a little more creative, a little more brave; though he said he won't change anything...!

Posted by: fresh_prince7 Oct 31 2007, 12:39 PM

Very brittle looking squad, getting thinner by the week.

If we get a point tonight, its an improvement. rolleyes.gif

C'mon Ricky, once again the hopes are pinned on you dominating the opposition.

Gila will score in this match.

Posted by: arivanjj Oct 31 2007, 01:12 PM

GOURCUFF TO START!! mad.gif

** i wonder if this is gonna be one of those games where Brocchi scores a goal and it might even be the winning one**

Oh come on R7!! Even you know that the problem runs deeper then that, and it isn't just saying that we only need one more player. Isn't it you that always says that football is more complicated then just simply taking off a defensive mid and putting on a striker (for example)?

Our defence is weak, we've managed to conceed at least one goal in every game, I can't remeber the last time we held a clean sheet and a lot of points have been dropped because of the defence this season, we score a goal and then we conceed a couple of minutes afterwards. Our defence seriously needs some looking into, Paolo can't play more then a game per week and until he gets back on his feet he won't really help us since he hasn't really been playing up to his standards.

And as dst said, our bench is seriously weak!! Who do we have on there that could possibly change the course of a match?? A couple of defensive mids, a youngster that's been stripped of all his confidence by not being allowed practically any play time, and a couple of old defenders. Oh and Pippo who's starting to miss more easy chances then Gila

This is exactly why our problem runs deeper then just saying that we are missing JUST one player. There is no doubt that Ronaldo will help us once he gets back, but believe me when I tell you the problem is much bigger then that.

As for tonight's game, Carlo will undoubtedly play this formation

Cafu--Nesta--Kala--Favalli
---Rino---Pirlo---Brocchi---
-------Kaka--Seedorf-------
------------Gila--------------

As for me, I would like to see this formation

Bonera--Nesta--Kala--Sergio
-----Yoann---Pirlo---Rino-----
---------Kaka--Seedorf-------
--------------Gila---------------

Bonera and Sergio as fullback so we would have a balance ie. Sergio pushes up and Bonera stays mostly back.

Yoann and Rino switch sides so that Rino can cover more on Sergio's flank.

And the rest just picks itself out

Posted by: Tennie Oct 31 2007, 03:17 PM

This is Gazzetta's probable formation:

1 Dida
25 Bonera
13 Nesta
4 Kaladze
27 Serginho
8 Gattuso
21 Pirlo
32 Brocchi
22 Kakà
10 Seedorf
11 Gilardino

And here is goal.com's:
Milan (4-3-2-1): Dida; Cafu, Nesta, Kaladze, Maldini; Gattuso, Pirlo, Brocchi, Kakà, Seedorf; Inzaghi

Posted by: Fillipo Simone Oct 31 2007, 04:19 PM

We just have to win this one,...no more no less,..

Posted by: Darunia Oct 31 2007, 04:46 PM

Well Goal.com's won't be right since Maldini isn't in the squad hahaa.

Gazetta's is a decent lineup.. I don't know if Serginho has enough match fitness to start the game.

Posted by: Rossoneri7 Oct 31 2007, 05:23 PM

@han .. Yes football is much more complicated than replacing a defensive midfielder with a striker ... But Ronaldo is not just a striker, he is a Key player for us. Go back to last season's games, on Youtube .. (I did) and compare how we played then with now. Same sh1t my friend, but then came Ronaldo, who turned it all around. I am not saying that we depend on Ronaldo to win us matches, but the fact that this team is already complete .. It only needs someone who can split open those defenses wink.gif

But my grounds are, this team is good, in fact very good. The age issue means nothing today .. maybe in a year yes, but then again we have Maldini hanging up his boots sad.gif and several others will follow suit. Then there is the concentration issue, this I agree that the team isn't focused enough; maybe it is exhaustion or maybe it is the fact that this team has won so much that it feels it can't achieve more than it did! But those are just assumptions (i.e. don't hold it against me tongue.gif ). But overall, we are one of the strongest side in Europe, nay the world. Though the team has lost it's way recently, the quality and calibure of this team remains at it's standards.

Our bench is weak, yes i agree too (when have i disagreed??) when you compare it with inter or Chelsea ... But the core of this team is much stronger than Chelsea and inter combined devilsmiley.gif Maybe I am biased to a certain extent, but Milan clearly have their recent achievments to show of what grade this team really is.

EDIT:

p.s. Our Bench are just there to give an extra hand, 90% of them are Serie A quality and proven players with two or three developing players ... Since when does Milan look at Chelsea or inter and compare players or benchs ?! This is Milan, the Grande Milan .. Maybe we don't have a strong bench but bring the best up against us in a make or break match and we'll show them another lesson in complete football biggrin.gif

Anyways this is my line up for today:

Cafu--Nesta--Kala--Favalli
---Rino---Pirlo---Seedorf---
-------Kaka--Gourcuff-------
------------Gila--------------

I don't know why I am going with this, we will all know in an hr or so, but this is just what I want to see on the pitch. If not, then sub Gourcuff with Emerson and exchange his position with Seedorfs'.

Posted by: Jack Sparrow Oct 31 2007, 07:16 PM

This is what I expect Carlo to do

Bonera-Nesta-Kaladze-Sergio/Favalli
-----Rino----Pirlo-----Emerson------
-------Seedorf----------Ricky-------
------------ -----Gila-----------------

This is what I'd like to see...thank god I'm not coach

Cafu----Nesta----Bonera----Kaladze
--------Emerson-------Pirlo-----------
Brocchi/Yoann----------Seedorf/Yoan/Sergio
--------------Seedorf/Ricky-------------
------------------Gila--------------------------

Or bench Gila, and make Kaka play as striker...laugh.gif he does a Totti!

Posted by: kurtsimonw Oct 31 2007, 07:20 PM

I say.. 0-0.

Posted by: Jack Sparrow Oct 31 2007, 07:23 PM

1-0 for me. Our defence has been too bad recently to not concede. Maybe even a penalty.

If we manage to do so we might have a chance to win this one... we seem to always find it hard to win away against Sampdoria but strange things happen in strange seasons; plus we seem to be putting on a good performance in every other game and this is the... 'other' game!

bwin? You have to find the Milan game tag and press the play button on the little video frame. But it won't work unless you have an account at bwin... they don't charge you anything for watching but you need to have at least 10 bucks on your account!

I'm banking on at least conceeding 1 goal in this match. So we might probably have to score 2 goals to ensure a win and with the way we are playing I don't see that happening any time soon

If we concede we'll lose... in any case, we are certainly not going to score more than one goal in this game! IF we finally score that is...

I'd put Gourcuff on for Seedorf... it's not going to hurts us to try something a little bit different!

Even playing in that midfield spot Ambro usually takes up.

Strikers like Gila live off the types of crosses Sergio feeds him.

When Janku comes back hopefully we'll see them both play on the left against smaller teams. I think they would overlap very well on that side given the chance

Grande Milan!

The biggest concern about such a good performance as bigmac mentioned is the way the board interpret the result.

Any chance of a 6th goal..

We need to step up our game in the San Siro against Torino on Sunday so we can build a good run of results heading into the tough matches and christmas break

Didn't say I was happy with his performance overall. But he had a much better second half, he didn't slow up the play as much and had a part in creating Yoann's goal and Gila's first goal. So it might be an average performance but he can still come up with the goods when he wants to. But it requires an effort from him in order for that to happen and he did that in the second half

Just like we were plain terrible today in the first half. and couldn't break samp down, but when we woke up in the second half we managed to destroy them pretty easily.

It all comes down to the fact that our team sometimes can be too lazy and unmotivated to even try to win a match.

Missing CL football for the season will cause more harm.

We will lose players like Kaka if that happens, and for what? To get a couple of signings.

There is no doubt that major changes will be made this summer since I can see players like:

Cafu

Pippo

Major changess will be made, it won't be an option any more, to try to hold on to the team we have.

Just because they are not as technically gifted as others doesn't mean they're unmotivated - I noticed someone had posted about how Brocchi keeps on running, meaning he is motivated. Now if Rino or Ambro aren't playing well then they should be benched in favour of Brocchi, same for Yoann as he needs play time. Unfortunately carlo keeps his same 11 week after week.

We can beat any team in the CL, let alone Roma.

We truly missed Serginho. At 35 AND unfit, he still got it. cry.gif

Gilardino has finally started to do what was expected of him. Score decisive goals and carry the team to get a victory. Today's victory was down to Gilardino. He unlocked the game. But he still has a lot of work to do to. And the bet is still on Tennie. And remember, if you lose, you change your user name to Dory. And give me a lap dance. wink.gif

Gourcuff. I'm 110% sure if he is played consistently, he will surprise MANY. Playing a youngster like him only when the reserve team is playing or the last 10 minutes of a game we are losing is not enough at all. For him to gain real confidence, he needs to be given real chances. Like his CL debut last year. A real chance in a big competition. I really hope the management will show him the same faith the showed Gila.

Actually we've scored the first goal on more then one occasion this season and still managed to screw it up somehow. Imo it's all in the mindset the players decide to come out and play the game in. We can beat any team in the CL, let alone Roma.

As for the actual transfers, guys like Paolo, Sergio, Pippo and Cafu won't be replaced with free transfers and cheap knock off. These are INFLUENTIAL players that will be permanently remebered as being a big part of Milan's history.

If they are in the mood to do it they can easily route a team, but if they decide to jog around a couple of times on the greens they do that too

Here are datasport's ratings, for those who are interested in such things:
EDITED to include rough English translations, for those who don't read Italian and want to know what Datasport said. smile.gif (specially for you, Jack)
MILAN
Dida 6.5 - Una sola parata, ma fondamentale, nel primo tempo. Per il resto ordinaria amministrazione e tanta sicurezza. [One save, but a fundamental one, in the first half.]

Bonera 6.5 - Una buona prova del difensore rossonero, che ha saputo arginare perfettamente gli attaccanti avversari. [A good game for the rossoneri defender, who knew how to keep the opposing strikers in check.]

Cafu s.v. - Anche per lui serata piu` da spettatore che da protagonista. [For him, a game more as a spectator than as a protagonist.]

Nesta 6.5 - Se la Samp non ha sfondato il muro difensivo rossonero, gran merito e` anche suo, puntuale e presente in ogni azione. [If Samp didn't crush the rossoneri defensive wall, it's greatly to his credit, punctual and present on every play.]

Kaladze 6 - Una grande occasione nel primo tempo, poi ordinaria amministrazione. Veste anche la fascia di capitano quando esce Gattuso. [A good chance in the first half, afterwards business as usual. Wore the captain's armband when Gattuso was subbed.]

Simic s.v. - Mai impegnato dagli avversari nei pochi minuti disputati. [Never engaged the adversaries in the few minutes he played.]

Kaka` 6.5 - Un gol e qualche sgroppata bastano per far male alla Sampdoria. [A goal and some fancy play enough to make Samp look bad.]

Gourcuff 6 - Un gol segnato e uno sbagliato clamorosamente. Comunque una prova positiva, bagnata dalla marcatura. Nel finale un `giallo` che si poteva evitare. [A goal scored and a bad mistake (?). All in all, a positive game. At the end a yellow that could've been avoided.]

Pirlo 6 - Una bella punizione, un assist poi non concretizzato, per una serata senza squilli ma comunque positiva. [A nice free kick, an assist that didn't result in a goal, for an evening without goals but overall positive.]

Seedorf 7.5 - Sempre da gustare con le sue movenze felpate. Anche a `Marassi` un gol e un assist per fare felici gli amanti del bel gioco. E tanta tanta qualita`. [Always tasteful with his plushy movements. Also at the Marassi a goal and an assist for those who love the beautiful game. A lot of quality.]

Gattuso 6 - Prosegue il periodo non eccelso del `ringhio` nazionale. Prestazione sufficiente, ma certamente non indimenticabile. [Not the period of the Ringhio of the Naizonale. A sufficient performance but not unforgettable.]

Brocchi 7 - Chi gioca di meno rischia di fare maggiormente brutte figure. Chiamato da Ancelotti, Brocchi risponde alla grande, servendo anche un assist al bacio per il quinto gol. [Those who play less often play badly. Called up ty Ancelotti, Brocchi responds grandly, with an excellent assist for the fifth goal.]

Serginho 7 - Quasi dimenticato, quando entra e inserisce il suo vecchio turbo diventa il giocatore `in piu`` di questo Milan. La sua classe e le sue discese sono il `valore aggiunto` dei rossoneri. [Almost forgotten, when this old player plays, he becomes the 'extra' player of this Milan. His class is the added value of the rossoneri.]

Gilardino 8 - Finalmente il Gilardino che ti aspetteresti ma che di solito non c`e`: lotta, costruisce, difende palla e segna. Due gol e un assist per lui, la spina nel fianco della Sampdoria. Decisivo [Finally, the Gilardino that we waited for, but not only that: fights, defends teh ball, marks, and scores. Two goals and an assist for him, the thorn in the side of Sampdoria. Decisive.]

QUOTE
Ancelotti finds Milan key

Carlo Ancelotti thinks he has found the key to Milan’s problems. “It’s all about breaking the deadlock.”

The Rossoneri are yet to win on home turf in Serie A this season, but have now scored 10 goals in their last two away games, including tonight’s 5-0 demolition of Sampdoria.

“This victory proves that matches are decided by incidents. At home we struggle to break the deadlock and then things get complicated,” reasoned the Coach.

“That is the key, as once you score a goal the space opens up for you. In the first half we played well, putting Sampdoria under pressure.”

There was however some tension – possibly sparked by the recent dismal results – when Kaka appeared to argue with Ancelotti on the touchline.

“We talk about the position on the field and he knows where he needs to play. Kaka was asking to go a bit deeper, but we wanted to force the play up starting from the wings instead.”

Alberto Gilardino scored a brace and Nelson Dida kept his side afloat in the first half, silencing some of his critics.

“When it was still 0-0 he was fantastic. He has gone through a difficult time, but that save restored his pride.”

Football Italia

I think Carlo had his tactics right today, as always .. But Serginho should take some praise too .. As he assisted both of Gila's goals.

And Dida, was really class tonight, some who remember him from several years ago, know what I'm talking about

Posted by: KillerMax Nov 1 2007, 01:10 AM

See... I don't think breaking the deadlock is the problem at all. As han mentioned, we broke the deadlock in previous games and still lost or drew. It's more to do with motivation and determination. And having a stable defense and a solid Dida and Gila helps too. Though, I'm not counting on their consistency.

If u see Gila's second goal Max .. He was really confident on the ball. And Dida's first half display was just Grand !! But consistency ? Well my theory is, if the team as a whole play the way they did, the players will be even more determined to do more.

And about the deadlock thing ..What Carlo was referring to was opening up defenses after the first goal, then ending the game like Gila's 2nd and 3rd ... Gila is on fire atm !!

And now I'm beginning to think, it's not our defence is lousy per se. They just seem to lose it under the constant pressure of a 0-0 or a 1-0 down.

Football is a 90 min game, u win .. u loose .. end of. But the moral of my argument is that we weren't humiliated. If so, then what do u call the 6-0 rolleyes.gif

han .. I believe that Milan weren't even trying in the derby, and even with that we came out of the match with heads held high. Milan wasn't in the title race since the very beginning! What motivation do the players have to come in and beat inter ? Now, had we faced inter in the CL, in a crucial make or break tie, with them fielding their strongest XI, Milan would teach them a lesson on football. This same case could be implemented in the derby, IF Milan had a chance of topping the table at the time .. With or without Matrix wink.gif

Come on. It's a derby. Weren't even trying? We were outplayed and there is no need to make up excuses. Motivation? You don't need motivation for the derby. The player are fired up just from the importance, history and the crowd and other thing that I'm sure you know. In that spicific time tInter was in much better shape and deserved to beat us. The fact that we made a little come back in the end when they were left with 10 player doesn't make me feel better about that game.

Posted by: Tennie Nov 1 2007, 06:11 PM

I disagree that they weren't trying in the first of last year's derbies (the 3-2). The second half of that game was one of the best 45 minutes of football I've seen. Milan - and remember this was in the middle of the injury crisis with almost half the team hurt - fought like lions and I honestly believe that if the game had gone another couple of minutes, they'd have gotten an equalizer or maybe even won.

Explain to me what Milan did against United ? A team which is much more intact and cohesive than inter ?!

This is what i mean, don't derail my point ... understand what i'm saying first. Milan never stood a chance, whether Milan won or lost, it doesn't make much of a difference in terms of doing anything in the league. Whilst, when Milan has a shot at something (i.e. CL final or 1st place finish) Milan will play with intense humiliation. As we have all seen, in previous situations where Milan almost always prevails.

Oh I know the importance of the derby ... I know it well, but last season wasn't an honest season. It was handicapped. And if we fans think like this, waht do u expect from the players ..

p.s. inter have a strong bench, that i will give to them. but they don't have a better first XI than Milan; and only 11 players play for each side not 23!

Did you read my post? The Inter game was in November when we were in really bad shappe, injured players and many more problems we all aware of. We were playing bad in CL group stage as well. The United game were in complitely different time, after Ronaldo and Oddo have made a change in a team, the injured players returned and in both Seria A and CL Milan played great and the key player were in very good shape. When we played Inter the motivatin wasn't the problem (it never the probllem against Inter). The team just was rightfully outplayed by Inter. Had we played the United back then we would have lost as well.

Ok, yes i read ur previous post ... *now look what uv done dst !!*

Well, my point was, again, Milan weren't playing inter for the league ... while inter were playing Milan for the league .. huh.gif ok i'll try again, The team know that even if they beat inter home and away, Milan would still be far off.

Now, Milan played inter again last season where it ended 2-1 for inter .. Milan had most of it's players back from injury plus Oddo and R99 and still Milan didn't win .. why ? cuz even if we did win. what difference would it make. Had Milan been in the title race and no calciopoli and all that cr@p, we wouldn't even be discussing inter, but laughing at them wink.gif

In the return game in San Siro we were better than brilliant. You don't see that kinda display too often and no team could have beat as on that night. In San Siro only Ferdinad was missing if I remember correctly

With or without Matrix wink.gif

p.s. last season isn't a reference point at all, it was a handicapped season! you want to judge, judge this season .. 23 Dec.

*

As mishale said here R7 ^^^^^ In that game we played terrible and a team always tries in a derby, it's a sin not to. We were just completely and toally outplayed in that game, there is no way of looking at that game in a positive perspective because even that come back stemmed from the fact that we had a man advantage on them.

I know you look at Milan through rose tinted glasses because you love the team, I have no question about that, but sometimes no matter how much you love your team it deserves to be crititces especially when they don't play up to par. And saying that they weren't even trying to cover up for there totally horrific display in every game we lose or draw is not good enough.

QUOTE (Tennie @ Nov 1 2007, 05:11 PM)
I disagree that they weren't trying in the first of last year's derbies (the 3-2). The second half of that game was one of the best 45 minutes of football I've seen. Milan - and remember this was in the middle of the injury crisis with almost half the team hurt - fought like lions and I honestly believe that if the game had gone another couple of minutes, they'd have gotten an equalizer or maybe even won.
*

They only played like lions when they were a man up, as I previously said, if Matrix hadn't been sent off we wouldn't have managed to come back and make that score a respectable one.

The fact that we were totally being outplayed when we were 11 vs 11 shouldn't be over looked

Explain to me what Milan did against United ? A team which is much more intact and cohesive than inter ?!

The United game is a different one and we won't be able to try that out against Inter since I doubt they will go that far in the CL any time soon wink.gif biggrin.gif

As for United, they are a totally different team to Inter but with that said I think last season's united and last season's Inter when on a par with each other in terms of how good they were.

And the 8 points penalty didn't male them give up on the scudetto last year, in fact I remeber more then once players coming out and making statements that they still believed in the scudetto. What ruined our chances was the fact that we drew nearly every game from the first half of the season and also lost some.

When we played Inter we were still ing with a chance so motivation about the fact that we were out of the running shouldn't count since that derby came when it was still too early to throw in the towel
