Speaking about rotation, Inter have been playing Barella-Brozovic-Capanoglu nearly non-stop thus far, Serie A and CL, 3 players who also play all their NT games. Even against Venezia, and even against Spezia Mediaset has them still starting. I really don't understand why Pioli decided to experiment with Bennacer and Bakayoko in such a delicate match against a tough opponent like Sassuolo.
If we lost yesterday's match in any position on the pitch, it was in midfield. The two CMs didn't provide enough cover and made way too many mistakes, Bakayoko in primis. Bennacer was also quite poor. I feel the fact he's lost his starting spot to Tonali has affected him negatively. I think he's a player who always needs to play in order to achieve and maintain a top physical and psychological condition.
I will always keep saying that Tonali and Bennacer should be our starting pair, but for some reason people in here don't agree.
Re Inter. I'd love to see what happens should any one of those get injured. Brozovic is arguably their most important asset in that midfield, they've done well without Hakan before when he was playing like dog cr@p. Brozovic and Barella are the keys
That being said Inzaghi has the luxury of not suffering through debilitating injury crises after crises. Pioli on the other hand does not have that
What I disagree with is rotating against Sassuolo. Rotation should have been done today or against Salernitana. Especially knowing how many issues Sassuolo always cause us. Just naive the change the core of the team during that one
As for the Tonali Bennacer duo. I just disagree with it on a fundamental level. Especially against better sides. Unfortunately Kessie right now is the best option to partner either one of them. And right now we don't know what's going on, but if we're going to keep him until the end of the season, might as well run him into the ground and use all that we can out of him. I don't know if the brain farts this season have come due to his situation, but if that's the case it just shows that no decision has been made as of yet as he'd be far more serene if that was the case.
Let's just wait and see with him. I think the fact that we'd made him captain in the absence of Romagnoli and Calabria speaks a lot to what the club are trying to do with him.

Tonali is showing real signs of progress and he has stepped up very boldly, which made me reconsider my earlier criticism.
Maybe you are right regarding Bennacer, maybe him not playing affects his mentality. But overall he's showing very little. I think he's the kind of player that shines at Empoli or Fiorentina, but isn't ready for a bigger step forward. He lacks consistency. Injuries also don't help, but all in all I think he lacks mostly consistency.
Totally disagree re Bennacer. His best game this season came against Atletico imo. He was immense for us. But as x-of said, he just hasn't had continuity because of the rotation. Which everyone understands why that is with Tonali really shining. But Benna has a lot of quality. Pioli just needs to use him a bit better.

And there goes Kjaer as well... (IMG:

Just our luck. Cannot catch a break with these injuries and that looked bad.
Napoli drew btw. Good day aside from the Inter win, which was always going to happen against Spezia
We have to make the most of next weekend. We have Salernitana, Inter have Rom, Napoli have Atalanta. Should be our best chance to get back on top by ourselves as Napoli are dipping.
