The Emerson transfer saga is over after Milan announced his capture from Real Madrid this evening.
Reports in Italy gathered pace this afternoon that the Brazilian was on the verge of joining the European champions and that has proved to be reality.
“Milan communicate that they have signed Emerson from Real Madrid on a permanent basis,†read a short note on the Rossoneri’s website.
Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani flew out to Madrid earlier today to complete the deal after weeks of talks.
It’s understood that the veteran has signed a two-year deal at the San Siro after Real accepted a fee of around £3.7m.

I can't say I'm unhappy with that. The price is what surprises me, I thought they originally wanted closer to £8m! Good deal for us.

They definitely got him on the cheap, so we can't complain (Madrid payed 15 million euro for him last year). I think everybody agrees with me that he's way better than Ambro. good signing IMO, not spectacular, but satisfying enough.

Emerson is good but I certainly don't think he's better than Ambro. Maybe Emerson was in his Roma days, but not now. Ambro has been in wonderful form. To me, Ambro is a starter (depending on formation) and Emerson will be first sub for the DMs.

Kinda agree with Tennie here - Ambro gets the nod for me. Emerson is a decent player though, especially at that price.

now that galliani has signed emerson he will release an official stament that says the transfer market is now open (in other words;no more transfers) 
no but on a more serious note now that we signed a midfielder in the position we never really needed we can focus our attention on signing a decent striker like milito, i would love to snatch him under reals nose.

yea thats true..i really like milito..He's way better than Gilardino...
Gilardino doesn't know how to handle the ball even on the run or try to dribble..I think Gilardino really sucks..He's not AC milan's quality at all...
On a real note we should have gotten someone like Milito or luis Fabiano...Dang Ancelotti what are u thinking about..dang

I don't blame him for saying that ... Almost all of the forum think Milan players will be injured for the most part of the season

First of all , like Jack said , dont even compare a rossonero king with a merengue like emerson.
Second , he will have his chance to prove himself. Untill then we should give him the benefit of the doubt.
Third , stop talking about a striker like Milito when there is only one player to be signed , ronaldinho !!!! pato , gilardino , ronaldo , willy & inzaghi will be enough.

Ambro , Pippo and Ronaldo are super injury prone players.
Paolo at his advanced age can't avoid injuries like he used to + Nesta and Dida also ,like last season has showen, more tend to get hurt than in the past (cuz of their age of course).

But that doesn't mean they WILL get hurt! Ambro and Pippo left their injuries behind last season and I don't see why everyone's so sure they will get injured again! Nesta has had no problems after Miami too...

I don't like that to happen, but it will. Ambrosini is an injury prone player and we all know that. and last term he played only 19 matches in the league (of 38) how can you say he played in all matches?!

Plus, have confidence man ! MilanLab is for real and many players have had their careers revived thanks to MilanLab .. Take a good look at Pippo. I for one didn't believe he would be back ! Then he came back and look what he did, he won us the cup !
Last season was a one-off, we had so much injuries, it seemed like Maldini played every game
... Still we accomplished many objectives and won ! This season, I believe our players are better physically and mentally, therefore we wont get as many injured as we did.

That's good! By the way he's the 8th Brazilian in Milan... do Brazilian teams have so many? 
I didn't say he played all the matches just that he was fit... we played with two forwards in the league so he was a sub for most games...

Emerson has flown in to finally completing the move to Milan. “I wanted to leave Real Madrid and join the best club in the world.â€
The Brazilian’s transfer had collapsed completely earlier this month, but the two sides came to an agreement for a permanent switch worth £3.4m.
“I am truly happy,†said the midfielder as he arrived at Linate Airport. “I wanted to leave Real Madrid and join the best club in the world. Now I really feel reborn.â€
The deal was only completed after Emerson agreed to take a £1m per season pay-cut to pen the two-year contract.
Before he flew away from Madrid, the former Roma and Juventus star had harsh words for President Ramon Calderon.
“Calderon treated me badly. He never said a word or made a gesture towards me. Unfortunately, there is a wall between the team and a part of the club, as those who make the decisions have created a clear distance.
“In any case, at the end of the day I have to thank Real because they allowed me to join Milan.â€
On Thursday Emerson will undergo his medical and pass through the many tests at MilanLab.
“I do not suffer from recurring groin problems, as some people would like you to believe. I am here to train well and reach my form as soon as possible.â€

Well Rino and Brocchi are mostly defensive mids. Not all that good at passing. But Emerson plays pretty good. He's better defensively tha Pirlo, and better offensively than Rino/Brocchi.

Carlo Ancelotti, spurning the idea that AC Milan need another young superstar signing, is pleased with AC Milan's latest acquisition.
The club hierarchy announced yesterday the signing of former Real Madrid midfielder Emerson, and Ancelotti now sees his side falling into place ahead of the new Serie A campaign.
"Emerson is a player who will serve us greatly with his quality and experience," said the coach, whose side also landed Pato over the course of the summer transfer window.
AC Milan have been criticised by some of the rossoneri faithful for their refusal to make a big-name signing this summer, but Ancelotti's careful approach may yet pay off if Emerson lives up to expectation.
The midfielder was told to leave Real Madrid this summer by president Ramon Calderon after failing to impress in the blanquillos' title winning season of 2006-07.
He joins the European Champions having previously played for Juventus and Roma.

The Brazilian midfielder will wear the number 5 shirt which belonged to Alessandro Costacurta for the past 20 years at Milan.
Emerson arrived at Milanello yesterday and was welcomed by the entire squad and technical staff of Milan.
The former Real Madrid player is now looking forward to start a new season with the Rossoneri and forget the past year spent in Spain. Emerson also wanted to deny that he is carrying any long-term injury.
"I just have some minor injury, but that's normal for a player of my age," he declared.
Emerson also explained the reasons behind his decision to join Milan, with Cafu taking an important role in his final decision.
"The many Brazilians of this team were a determining factor, but I spoke especially with Cafu. It was him who convinced me.
"I'm happy to have arrived at Milan, it is a very great team," the new Rossoneri's midfielder concluded.

I think Max means a player of the legendary stature of a Baresi or a Maldini. (and I agree that Billy is a Milan legend with those two).
That said, if Kaka plays for Milan for the next 10 years, then maybe....

Milan new boy Emerson is asking for two weeks to get himself fully fit and set his sights on Champions League glory this term.
The man nicknamed Il Puma joined the Rossoneri after a disappointing spell at Real Madrid ended this summer, but he hasn’t been able to make his mark at the San Siro yet as he is not match fit.
“I still need to get into shape, but I played 90 minutes in the friendly at Kiev and in two weeks I will be in top condition,†the Brazilian midfielder explained.
“I like playing for a team that has made winning a habit and I can’t wait for the game against Benfica already.â€
Milan host the Portuguese giants on September 18 in their first Group D fixture as they look to retain their European crown.

Emerson is set for his first Milan start this afternoon and admits he is excited. “With this side I can win the Club World Cup.â€
The former Roma, Juventus and Real Madrid star has so far only made substitute appearances for the club, but with Andrea Pirlo rested ahead of the Champions League, he will start against Siena in Serie A.
“Experience helps you go through every moment with the right sense of relaxation, but I am certain it will be an emotional event for me,†explained the Brazilian.
“It is only normal when you step on to the field for the first time with an important jersey like Milan’s. Playing from the first minute is not like coming off the bench. It is a totally different experience.â€
Last season Pirlo was the sole representative in his role for the club, so Emerson was drafted in to provide an alternative.
“I am glad to give the Coach this opportunity, but I think it is more important to be able to take on many different midfield positions. This can really help the squad. Also, one cannot compare Andrea and myself, especially as I am sure we could play together without treading on each others’ toes.â€
Emerson undertakes a new adventure after seven years under Fabio Capello in Rome, Turin and Madrid, but already has his eyes on one particular prize.
“The objective for the club and for me is the Club World Cup – something I have never won. My Gremio side lost the 1995 Intercontinental Cup to Ajax, so this year I hope to lift that trophy.â€
Milan are in that Tokyo tournament thanks to their Champions League triumph against Liverpool in May, but Emerson insists they are not sated yet.
“I am looking forward to the Champions League Final, the game of my dreams. Naturally the derby with Inter will have a special feeling to it, as will the meetings with my old clubs, but none of that compares to the Champions League Final.â€

Emerson: I Want To Score A Goal
Milan midfielder Emerson has spoken of his determination to be a success at the club, and says he is hoping to soon open his goalscoring account.
The midfielder signed for the Rossoneri from Real Madrid last summer in a transfer that baffled many football fans.
Emerson has struggled badly for form and fitness this season, making 16 Serie A appearances, just six of them starts.
“I haven't yet managed to score at Milan, but in football anything can happen and I would like to score an important goal from the personal level for me and the team,†‘Puma’ told Milan Channel.
“When I arrived at Milan I did not have the preparation with Real. I spoke with my coach, telling him that I was not available anymore for the Spanish club because I had my head elsewhere.
“I was training on my own, therefore when I arrived here I hadn’t trained a lot. I knew about the difficulties and that it wouldn't be easy to go on the pitch as a starter.
“Unfortunately then I had the problem to my tibia which is the biggest battle that I have ever fought. I did and still am doing great sacrifices to be available for the coach, but it is known that football is a great sacrifice.
“I still have a year of contract with Milan and I’m very demanding towards myself. I really want to do something good with this shirt.â€
Rejected Milan In 2000
Emerson is widely considered to now be past his best, however during his four years at Roma earlier this decade he was undoubtedly one of the top defensive midfielders in the world.
The Brazilian has revealed that before joining Roma from Bayer Leverkusen, he rejected the chance to sign for Milan.
“When there was an interest from Milan towards me, I was at Bayer Leverkusen, but I had already given my word to Roma,†Emerson, who turns 32 tomorrow, revealed.
“I remember that the meeting lasted just five minutes because I wanted to keep my word to the Giallorossi club, but the interest from Milan pleased me a lot.
“Now that I’m at Milan I understand the greatness of the club. Milan protects its players and when I arrived I saw some of my team mates who had been here for over ten years and I was sorry that I didn’t arrive before.â€

Il Puma Looking For A Speedy Return
Milan’s Brazilian midfielder, Emerson, is looking ahead to the new season and he is hoping he can make a quick return to action after several injuries kept him out last term.
The former Juventus midfield dynamo has hardly featured for the Rossoneri ever since his move there two years ago.
Emerson has been rather unfortunate as a number of injuries have kept him in the treatment room. He now seems to be back to fitness and he hopes he can repay Milan for the faith they have shown in him.
“This club has given me so much but, as a result of injuries, I have never been able to pay them back,†said Emerson.
“I can still give Milan something in return but last year was difficult as I had a small fracture which was really painful when training.
“I had an operation and now all seems fine. I am looking to retrun for the Silvio Berlusconi trophy.â€
Il Puma also spoke about Ronaldinho and he reveals that the Barcelona star is determined to get back to his best.
“I have found him unhappy for all that has happened to him recently,†said Emerson.
“However, I can guarantee that he has a great determination and will to get back to action.â€
Milan are still hot on Ronaldinho’s heels and there is a possibility that he may sign for them if both the Rossoneri and Blaugrana reach a deal for him.
OH i see he only likes friendlies in summer and then go for the picinic for rest of the season

he played decently well against atalanta. i see him no more than a utility defensive mid though coming after flamini in the pecking order. He's a better version of Brocchi. If Emerson sees more time and Flamini starts to get discouraged..i will be thoroughly disappointed in Carlo.

I have never actually hated any Milan players, there were ones i disliked such as Favalli, Dida and Crespo (before he hit 16 goals for us), but Emerson i hate with an absolute passion, i nearly cried when i found out he was still at the club and Brocchi was released. He is the Epitome of uselessness and has cost us points today
There will be much rejoicing when he finally leaves the club (hopefully January although Summer is fine too)

Yeah i too am annoyed at the fact he has defiled Costacurta's no5 jersey. In retrospect, Dida hasnt done anything daft, and neither has Favalli (recently) so my wrath was misplaced at them
Miz is right, me thinking he will be shipped out in Jan, is misplaced optimism especially with the boards love of Brazilians as Miz said

Seriously buddy, the only way Emerson will not play is when he gets in his little injury periods. 
I have nothing against the guy, but players like him (and Brocchi) should know their limits, and try to play in another club where they could be better used. I mean why the hell did he come here, anyway?
We had a chance at signing Frank Ribbery, the player was interested, had talks with the management, and I don't know who blocked the deal in the end. Had we gotten him instead of Carlo's favorite 'Emo' it would have been better for both parties. Particularly for Emerson himself, he'd have had a shot at first eleven in a smaller team, or even another league. Stupid chap, really, this guy. Every time he comes on, I fear for a dreaded foul being right around the corner.
But like you said, I'm not sure he's going anywhere anytime soon: According to Pato, he's the leader of our Brazilian contingent now that Cafu is gone. I won't hold my breath for him leaving. Last year it was Brocchi who turned out to be the menace, this season it's Emerson.

Nah, the only game Brocci cost us was that semi at Old Trafford, but we won the 2nd leg anyway, but there is no 2nd leg for this one.
But I don't have a short term memory, and I still haven't forgiven Dida for the amount of games he's cost us!

I don't like him either, but let's be honest. If it wasn't for Emerson and Gattuso, we would have never achieved all those "1:0/2:1" victories. Basically, Emerson is one of the main reasons we still have a good chance of winning it all.

I read on more than one sources that both Ribery and Milan were interested, but someone blew the deal. Don't know who it was, my bet would be on Mr. B.
