Silvio Berlusconi turned the dream into reality and maybe over twenty years more so than he never could have imagined. After saving the Rossoneri from ’Hell’, he took them to ’Heaven’ and now when Milan run out at the Marakana to play Red Star in the Champions League premilinary round on Tuesday, the president will be celebrating 1000 official games at the helm. Looking at the statistics over the previous 999 games, the team have won 522 and last season collected 28 wins in 38 Serie A matches. They have won more than half of their Champions League ties but more than that they have done it with spirit, heart and style. A banner to celebrate, the president’s twenty years in charge summed it all up: ’You have written the most beautiful page, you deserve 1000 legendary games: thanks, President.’
