Right now the most important thing is to collect points, I'm less concerned with how we do it at the moment as the team gels on the run because of so many changes and adding players later on. Yesterday we had two players playing significant minutes after only few days with the team. Allegri has a lot of work to do.

It was a penalty, because Pazzini was fouled, it's just that it should've been a free kick first. On not giving the free kick, the penalty was tecnically the correct decision.

i don't think he was fouled.

This is not allowed, it's a foul. The only arguement (after not giving Bologna the free kick) is whether it should be a red card since clearly Pazzini is in on goal.

Was his shirt pulled in the box? Yes. Did he go down easily? Yes. Could he have stayed on his feet? Probably. Was it a penalty. Yes!

Obviously I'd be pretty annoyed if this was given against us, but the defender knew what he was doing. He's always running a risk by doing that. As an attacker, if the opposition defender fouls you, and you're in a worse position because of it, but you could stay on your feet - is it a dive if you go to ground anyway to get a penalty?

In my view it is a dive and I don't appreciate it. Though I have liked players who do that. As far as I remember Sheva never did, and I loved that about him. Not going down that road doesn't make a you a less lethal player, it just makes you a different type of player.

The pic above is only showing part of wat happned. Pazzini pulled the defenders shirt first. so it should have been a foul. but for some reason ref thought it was not. next moment ref sees the defender pulling pazzinis shirt and pazzini going down. he concluded it as a penalty. Both pulled each other's shirts so you can't just give one the foul. I don't think it should have been a red card either. I don't like it that a red card is given when it's a penalty. If it's a last man foul outside the box it should be a red card. But in the box? I mean, the penalty is already almost a goal, why punish the team with a red card too? I know it's a rule, I'm saying it's a stupid rule.

Maybe so that you avoid the advent of a 'tactical' red card. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I think we re all in agreement that the correct overall decision is a Bologna free kick as Pazzini started the shirt pulling first. However, upon not giving the free kick as I'm assuming he didn't see Pazzini pull first, then the referee was technically correct in giving the penalty as he must've seen Pazzini have his shirt pulled. It's not a dive because Pazzini was fouled. If he doesn't go down, he may not get a penalty. Unfortunately in modern day football unless you end up on the floor a ref isn't likely to give a penalty, they encourage diving.
