QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ Jun 25 2012, 11:46 PM) Goodness gracious, I didn't compare Gilardino and Monto! I just said he also had talent. But never mind that.
He'll be surrounded by brilliant players?? What are you talking about? He'll be surrounded by a DM (choose one: Ambrosini, Traore, Strasser), Nocerino, Boateng, possibly Constant. This you call brilliant contrary to "just" Pirlo?
Just tired as well? He's 27, Pirlo is 33! And Pirlo just played all of the matches from minute one, while Monto made his first start. No, no, no. Pirlo raised him on another level. Yet surely, he was very good. Yes, he had some nice chemistry with Cassano. I meant their situations, not as players (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) I didn't mean just in midfield, but the team in general. He'll have what he never did at Fiorentina, he'll be sarrounded by top class players from defence to attack. No I wouldn't put in Constant, Traore, Ambro and Strasser in the category, but players like Ibra, Cassano, Thiago, Boateng, Pato, Robinho, etc. They're all on another level to what he's used to, they'll all help him to raise his game imo. So because he's 27 he cannot get tired when you have to play around 2 hours of football? Let's not be ridiculous here! And sometimes the fact that you're not playing competitive games regularly can make it even worse as your match fitness isn't up to par. Yes you might be fresher at the start but when you're out there for 120+ minutes your legs will feel it more than the others QUOTE (X-Offender @ Jun 26 2012, 01:12 AM) How, exactly? I saw a very vivid Montolivo last night, being active in every moment of the game, covering every role in midfield, rarely missing a pass, and providing some classy touches and through-balls to the strikers. I really don't understand how Pirlo played had anything to do with it. If anything, it was Italy's fantastic performance that raised Montolivo to another level, something he's rarely experienced at Fiorentina in the last few years. Agreed

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Jun 17 2012, 02:22 PM) It's baffling because I will joke about anyone and everything, how is that remotely xenophobic? If anything, it's those complaining about this joke, but not my jokes about other nations, are xenophobic. Why do they feel it's okay for me to joke about other nations? (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) I have drucurl on block so only saw it as mtl quoted him. It's disappointing that his post still shows if it's quoted. QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Jun 25 2012, 06:04 PM) Yawn. And your team needed refereeing help to hold on against Denmark and get out of the group.
Get back to your cave, troll. Some more style, please. Let's see: You had Sweden, France and Ukraine in your group. That's only mediocre teams at best. We were in a group of death with Holland, Portugal and Denmark. We won all our matches, you won only two. And even the ref would have given that PK to Denmark, we still would have finished on top of our group. What are you trying to say here? QUOTE (Milan Are Brilliant @ Jun 25 2012, 07:25 PM) Agreed, 2010 was a shambles. I enjoyed '08 though, lots of great games and late drama, particularly early on. I think 2010 was quite OK. It had some very entertaining games. Euro 2008 had the most entertaining turkish team of all times and they alone made the tournament worth watching. For me, this Euro has been quite boring till the England-Italy game. That was the only really entertaining match for me so far. But maybe that's just me.

You know, what I miss is something spectacular. The Euro in 04 for example broad out interesting new players like Ronaldo, Rooney or Schweinsteiger. It had Greece, the most surprising champions in the history of the Euro (besides Denmark in 92 maybe). 08 had Turkey and the new Spain. This one has nothing like that. Even when I watch our own matches I'm bored sometimes.

To be honest I just think that's the way the sport is heading. Maybe I've just watched it for too long and broadened my horizons to other sports that I certainly on TV enjoy watching a lot more than football these days. I don't think it's all down to watching other sports though, I just think for some reason football isn't as entertaining as it was a number of years back, obviously I can't give proof to this, just a gut feeling/opinion. Though obviously you still get those special moments in the sport, like the Man City finale in the PL.
It's probably due to saturation, with other sports you get a bit of a break and really look forward to the new season, with football it really is a sport you can watch live pretty much everyday of the year.

I understand, but I don't feel the same at all.Heck, football one of the few sports that excites me.

Money. too much of it ruins everything. Everything is about money now...and to a disgusting extent. To me this is why football is losing its flavour. Players that have true heart and not 100% focused on #1 are rare. To me the generation where Ronaldo, Maldini, Batigol, Zidane etc played will always be the best. Long ago I used to enjoy watching ANY superstar in football. Now Messi is meh and CR7 isn't far behind....I mean it's only fun to watch such ultra stacked teams utterly demolish far inferior opposition so much. The chasm between the financial "haves" and the "have nots" is more a source of depression than amazement. It's like LeBron James' decision to move to Miami...wow they finally won...yeah LeBron is the greatest evarrr (IMG: style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Is it any wonder that diving, pu$$y players, and utterly BORING games where team's number 1 priority is NOT TO LOSE isn't appealing?

I'm with you on this. I wouldn't say I'm bored with it, but I find it hard to get excited. Of course when the EPL season s about to start I will be, but give it 6 or 7 games and it'll just bore me again when everyone gets into their usual positions. Football is too predictable nowadays. You could probably pick 2 teams in the top 7 leagues in Europe and 1 of the 2 will win it in at least 5 of them. If you pick 2 teams in NHL/NFL/MLB/NBA, chances are you might get 1, maybe. QUOTE (Zed.D @ Jun 26 2012, 10:03 PM) If football bores you all so much, why do you spend so much time following it, chatting about it in forums, etc.? give it up and go follow what really excites you. Not to speak for Ash, but he already has followed up what he enjoys and he's doing a damn good job of it. I know it wasn't aimed at me, but as someone who's losing touch in football a little, the reason I stay here is because I like the people. The football is secondary.
