Galliani gives hitman update Monday 23 June, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has given an honest appraisal of the strikers the Rossoneri have been linked with in the summer market.

The Diavolo need a new hitman to add to Brazilian teen star Alexandre Pato and Marco Borriello, who has been brought back from Genoa.

Galliani has stressed that Arsenal’s Emmanuel Adebayor is the only name left on the shopping list, but that hasn’t stopped a host of other names being linked to San Siro.

“Some people are talking about Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, but I’m not sure that he’s better than Borriello,” Galliani explained.“ WOW !!! Galliani (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Karim Benzema costs too much and Lyon aren’t selling him. There has been no approach for Adrian Mutu and he is a second striker – we have Pato for that position.

“We haven’t inquired about Antonio Cassano but like Mutu he is a second striker anyway.

“Chelsea say that Didier Drogba isn’t for sale and then there’s Samuel Eto’o for whom Barcelona are asking too much and his wages are far too large – they aren’t compatible with an Italian club.”

Galliani concluded by discussing the impossibility of signing Barcelona’s Brazilian star Ronaldinho.

“It’s not true that we are considering a bid for him,” he said. “He has a ridiculous offer from England and it cannot be matched.”

Exactly. Why does he have to go and say that and ruin our chances of getting him in the future. Even if we don't ever want him, that's just not classy...

Well, I personally never seen Huntelaar playing so I can't say who's better between him and Borri, what he does in Holland doesn't mean a lot in my opinion, especially the way he does it, but the one thing I'm sure about is that they both have the same characteristics and both aren't the world class striker that can carry the team by himself we need!

I agree about Eto'o though, both him and his club are clearly negotiating by Chelsea's standards. In other words, if I have to choose between Eto'o (or any other player) and a financial balance, I'd work on the later!

Agreed.

Or maybe he actually believes Marco is better than Huntelaar! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Morgoth said something very interesting at least...

How many of you have actually seen Huntelaar play (more then a few times)?

I did 4 times in live, and another 8 times I'd say via TV. Twice he played against my local Zagreb team and did...exactly nothing. In the end, Ajax got eliminated (UEFA cup). He did score a couple of times when I watched the Dutch league...but...

This is all a bit of a fame. He's pointed out to be the next great striker or a classy player, but what does support that kind of thinking? Other then his really good scoring record in the dutch league? Did he achive or lead Ajax to some success (like Kluivert or Ibrahimovic who both first made their names with Ajax, on high stages of CL football)? Did he something good for Holland? He was in the roster twice for the WC and Euro and MvB didn't show any faith or need for him, even if Ruud was sometimes bad or off form. Did he score at least some CL goals in a early group stage? Hmh,..

You see...Galliani made his remarks in a very stupid way that wasn't needed at all. But to see that as an insult (compare him to Bori) or as a unconditional untruth isn't also neccesary! It's not that he compared Ronaldo and Bori in that manner.

Nowdays we quite easy make remarks and conclusions that someone is a world class talent or player or a highly noted player at least. Very easily we accept that to be a unconditional truth. Just a few clips, youtube inserts, a few stats in a minor league,...and here we are! I'm speaking in general, so this should not be considered as a direct link/coment on JK Huntelaar..

Completely agreed. While I believe Huntelaar is a good player, there's alot of youngsters going for silly prices based on very little. Ronaldo played a few games in Portugal and was bought for a load, same for Nani and Anderson. Modric played in one of the lower profiled leagues, yet has been bought for stupid money. I know Ronadlo has turned out great and the others may too, but they do seem to be getting hype for doing very little.

@ Fillipo

When he signed for a big club, we'll see whether you were right about him. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Why do you all talk about Hutelar, like he is the greatest? I usually disagree with Fester, but I'm with him on this one!
If he was so great, Van Basten would have included him in the starting eleven and he would have already signed for a big club, not playing in Holand, and till now, there were even no speculations!

+ He is too ugly for Milan (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

What we need now is someone young like Benzema, Tevez, Aguero or Arshavin and an experienced player like Eto'O or may be Dihno, who knows (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Just to be sure (many of you made such a mistake lately)...Andrei Arshavin is 27 years old.
