Milan have captured Ricardo Oliveira and given up on Ronaldo, but patron Silvio Berlusconi admits he’s still dreaming of Ronaldinho.
“If Ronaldinho was on the market, it’d be something I’d have to think about,†commented the President and former Italian Prime Minister.
“I prefer him to anyone else, but he remains an impossible dream because Barcelona have no intention of selling.â€
The FIFA World Player of the Year and Ballon d’Or holder has been repeatedly linked with the Rossoneri this summer, but appears to have opted to stick with Barca for the time being.
Ronaldinho’s price-tag after a disappointing World Cup may have dropped slightly, although the clause to buy him out of his contract remains a staggering £81m.
The club officially terminated its attempts to sign Ronaldo from Real Madrid yesterday, judging the £15m asking price too much.
Instead, the Milan officials returned from Spain with Ricardo Oliveira in tow – the Real Betis Sevilla striker who missed much of last season with a cruciate knee ligament injury. He’ll undergo a thorough medical before completing the £10m transfer, joining the legion of Brazilians at San Siro.
However, his arrival has caused shockwaves in the Italian Press because the forward’s agent, Roberto de Assis, is Ronaldinho’s brother.
Inevitably, the rumour mill has sprung into life with claims this is a surreptitious start to their bid for the Selecao hero.
