QUOTE (Jack Sparrow @ Aug 10 2010, 12:37 PM) I guess he doesn't really want a rampaging fullback in his system. That's the only explanation I can think of. Still putting a CB in the FB area is not smart. If he doesn't want a rampaging fullback then just play a system where the FB stays back, not put a CB back there to half @ss it. This thing has been tried countless times, getting the 1 for 2 deal on a player who can supposedly play the 2 positions, and it never really works

QUOTE (han2503 @ Aug 10 2010, 11:58 AM) Sure Yepes could be a useful utility player, but we already have Bonera and Sokratis for that, who imo are far better then Yepes. Sokratis is far better than Bonera. I expect Yepes to be better than Bonera. Sokratis probably is the best of the three. Sokratis impresses me, Bonera the opposite. If we do sign Bocchetti, the Yepes transfer was unnecessary indeed. Explanation I can think of is that Yepes was signed a while back, and the Milan management simply didn't know what would happen after that. Because back then I thought Yepes was a good signing. Else Bonera was first backup and some joker second backup [back then]. Anyway, Bocchetti, Sokratis and Bonera are all capable of playing as fullback. Surely they are better as central defenders, but simply because we have very few good fullbacks it makes sense to me to see some of them as fullback every now and then. Also, if signing Bocchetti means someone like Jankulovski or Kaladze leaves the club instead, how can I possible say no? Unfortunality, I don't see them leaving us [so I also don't see Bocchetti joining us].

Well then why not go for a FB, obviously I wouldn't say no to Bocchetti because he is a very good defender, but putting him as a FB is not the answer. I understand where you're coming from. But I just don't like the idea of a CB being wedged into the FB position simply because we don't have enough players in that area while we're overflowing with good CBs. A CB playing in the FB position is rarely comfortable, he's awkward and makes mistakes that he wouldn't do while playing in his natural position. Very few CBs can actually pull it off. Case in point, Sokratis and his 2 performances in the Emerites cup, against Arsenal he was played on the right and he looked terrible, Gibbs and Arshavin made him look like an ametour, against Lyon he played in the center and looked like a completely different player Also playing a 4-3-1-2 if that is what Allegri really wants we need to have width from the fullbacks, playing CBs there wouldn't provide that Also we all know the reason why the management jumped on Yepes, he was a free agent, and they knew Favalli was retiring. So they finalised it as soon as they could so they could say they replaced Favalli with another player. Fair enough, but they didn't count on getting sokratis or the new friendship we seem to have established with Genoa, thus the possibility of signing Bocchetti for a very good deal.

As opposed to a Madrid. Yup. We only have 80% of our total worth in debt. Let's make it 300%. That'll show em. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)

QUOTE (Fishdoll @ Aug 11 2010, 10:44 AM) Tuttomercatoweb reports the following:
* Man city have made a 40 million bid for Thiago Silva (this a rumor from Spain) * Schalke are interested in Huntelaar. If he leaves, Milan may make a bid for Ibrahimovic or Podolski but are also keeping an eye on Dos Santos and Eder
Sky TG24's market piece just ran. They said that Boateng is on his way in (possibly with medical already scheduled? That bit wasn't clear and the guy was speaking awfully fast) and that Milan are still looking at Giovanni Dos Santos. Well they are actually filling 2 positions that actually need to be filled, they are doing something right in that respect. The players choices on the other hand.... Boateng was good in the WC but I don't think he's the top quality player we really need, then again we don't have the money to get the top quality players we need in, so I'll take it, Dos Santos has the quality but the attitude is just aweful. But if it came to a choice between him and Ibra I'd take DS. At least he's still young and could be thought, Ibra's ego hit the roof while at Juve and only continued to grow in the past few years, the age factor is also in DS's favour plus he's fast...
