There are reports in the Italian media that Milan President Silvio Berlusconi is ready to pay Ronaldinho’s £84m buy-out clause.

The Rossoneri have made no secret of the fact he is their number one transfer target, but also confirmed publicly that Barcelona have no intention of selling him.

With this in mind, it seems that media mogul and former Italian Prime Minister Berlusconi is willing to break the bank to get his hands on the holder of two FIFA World Player of the Year awards.

The buy-out clause on Ronaldinho’s contract is a staggering £84m, but having had a frugal transfer campaign so far and with the Champions League victory bringing in new funds, the sacrifice is not impossible.

The Brazilian arrived back in Spain for pre-season training today and spoke enthusiastically of Thierry Henry’s signing.

“I feel great and can’t wait to get back to work,” he said. “We have made some high class signings and the issue of how we will all co-exist is for the Coach to work out.”

Frank Rijkaard has hinted he will try to use Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto’o and Henry in the same line-up, but this could unbalance the side.

It is rumoured that Ronaldinho has privately already reached an agreement over contract terms with Milan, ranging from wages to benefits and sponsorship deals.

Barcelona President Joan Laporta would be willing to sell for a high figure, but getting Milan to pay the full buy-out clause would ‘protect’ him from angry fans.

“President Laporta told me he would have to leave the country if he sold Ronaldinho,” revealed Berlusconi recently.

We won't pay that much. Thing is that R10 will demand a first team spot and that would mean dropping Seedorf - or seriously unbalancing the side. I do still think we will get R10 but I think we need to find a suitable formation first.

Oh, and R10 is only contracted for two more years, Barca have been unwilling to meet his wage demands(because of the changing tax law in Spain), and so next year could come considerably cheaper (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Silvio won't pay more than 60-70M/euros.
The other 30-50M/euros would be for his salary, etc.

This is just ridiculous, nobody is worth that much. Very few are worth even half of it.

Dropping Seedorf? Why? Maybe I'd put Gourcuff/Ambrosini on the 2nd half but Carletto will continue to use the 4-3-1-2.

This news about the buy-out clause could be just to "prepare" the Barcelona fans for a possible exit. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

That side would be alright for the Serie A but get hammered in europe (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

To be effective in europe you need to dm's, that was the main reason of our success.

Seedorf won't get dropped though, that was my point.

Edit: and as much as I go on about Seedorf he is a big game payer, just what we need in europe

That is an unreasonably high amount of money

On the other hand with the money he would bring in through merchandising etc, it can be payed off in a few seasons

Play R10 as a forward and Seedorf won't have to be dropped like Pirty said.

Not really, that's how we played in the CL when we had Sheva.

You mean in '03 when we had the best defence? because our defence is nowhere near as good now.

If we want 2 dm's then either Seedorf of Pirlo will have to be dropped. And without 2 dm's Pirlo is less effective as he will be shackled with defensive responsibilities. So the only option is to drop Seedorf.

Ronaldinho is considered the most marketable player in the world, surpassing David Beckham, according to sources I have followed.

To a team like Barcelona he is priceless on the field and for the revenues that he brings in.

Theres no way Barcelona will sell him. The only way we are going to get him is if we use his buyout clause.

We're still in the false hope line.

Theres a chance Henry will cause a stir at Barcelona in that Eto'o or someone will not play and want to leave. This is probably our chance to pounce on him. With Ronaldinho he will eventually come to Milan its only a matter of time. It could be next summer but I'm not holding my breathe.

The other question is how long will Kaka stay. If I were Kaka I would have the pride to the Milan jeresey but see other teams that are more attack oriented as a more attractive especially because they are buying up all these young attacking players. Hopefully he'll be a Maldini but he will leave eventually.
