42k seats really makes no sense. Looks even funnier when you posted before that we're averaging 47k in a bad season.
Actually makes a lot of sense. We're averaging these high (er) figures because the stadium sells out V the big teams. Against everyone else we're struggling at around 35K.
In a new ground at 4-50K we'll sell out most weeks, and rumour is we will still have dibs over San Siro for Milan derby, Roma and Juve. And future European matches. AKA the big marquee matches. Milan Arena will be our main home for bread and butter matches, and we'll make money from it.
Re: the earlier point about 'more money not to spend on the team' actually the money for the stadium is mostly coming from Emirates. They are basically paying for the new stadium, for the right to sponsor the living hell out of it. We're a huge brand in Middle East, Asia and North America, and especially Middle East Emirates is of huge relevance, being based there.
So they pay for the new stadium, and we profit from it.
So, it's true that the money from this deal is not for the team - no, it's for the stadium. And in future money will be used to invest in the team.
Basically we're going with the Juve model, and it's done wonders for them. But you have to get it right or it could end up like the Arsenal model, which is a total joke.
