QUOTE (I_Rossoneri @ Feb 7 2009, 10:54 PM) *
What I mean is that carlo bought attacking players on rather than defensive ones. Ricky might not have had his best game but we all know that he has the capability of changing a game on his own, I would always play him. I thought Clarence was awful tonight though, I expected more from him.

as per usual (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

I U take a quick glance at the Serie A table you can see that these 5 teams(Lecce,Bologna,Chievo,Torino & Reggina) are at the very bottom and we dropped points against 4 of them. How pathetic. This is were we will lose the scudetto. If we had won we would be ahead of Merda.

As long as we have this problem of beating the very bottom table teams, we cannot win the league. now we're certainly capable of beating such teams, it's our mentality that creates this problem.

as i said earlier...i think one of carlo's biggest faults in his coaching is getting his players up for weaker opponents. but great at getting them up for big opponents.

that's why we've thrived in the CL and sucked in Serie A

Spot on.

This is why hard-working players and a coach with a winning mentality are needed. Star players don't care enough, and coaches like Carlo find excuses.

Yup. Carlo has worked with MANY players over 8 seasons in Milan and 2 in Juve and yet he has won the title only once. I don't think the problem lies anywhere else. the players' not showing up cannot be the reason, because Carlo has had many different 'teams' at his disposal over the past 10 years. it's just that he is a CL coach, not a league coach.

One little word: Motivation. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/graduated.gif) Something which Milan lacks, and Carlo can't provide.

Anyway, just so everyone knows, I'll be creating the inter thread in a little while. I'm preparing the graphics and images as well as the stats, so don't act smart. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) For the time being let's discuss the Reggina match. And here I thought Reggina were Milan v2 - a small version of our club. One that we liked to feed. Anyway, if we had to feed them, should have fed them all 3 points. A solitary point won't do either us too good, nor them.

I cannot agree this is the only explanation. Motivation wasn't are problem this time. Are approach was. And, what can surprise, a lack of creativity. How many chances did we create in second half? How many of them were real actions?

Thing is, I just won't flush the whole thing into our coach. He's responsible at the end of the day, but...it wouldn't be fair to say the problem lies only in him, his skills or his pro et contra's.

I agree that putting all of the blame on Carlo is unfair.. but when you look over the last 8 years at all the great players and all the great teams we've had, we have 1 league title to show for it. There are very few things that have remained constant throughout this period, Carlo being the main one. I am very confident many competent managers would have been able to win at least 1 league title with the squads he's had. Unfortunately he cares too much about the European Cup and almost treats the league as warm up games.

But it's not that Carlo cares too much about european success, it's the whole club-attitude, starting from the bottom right to the top! That's why I'm saying it isn't fair just to blame Carlo! And it's certainly (IMO) stupid to blame everyone! So... there is no real solution.

But honestly, at least 3 of the 8 seasons couldn't be won, agreed? One way or the other...

I put the draw squarely on Carlo's shoulders and his slavish dedication to the 4-5-1 formation. I don't care if that's what got us as far as 2nd place so far this season. Given the immense talent of this squad 2nd place should be an embarrassment. Ironically, considering the state of things, we'll be lucky if we finish that high by season's end. Tonight's draw was a disgrace.

Exactly, though it can happen to any coach who's been around long enough, not just Carlo.

It's easier to get it up for Manchester United or Barcelona than some bottom-of-the-barrel Serie A team you're required to play twice a year. However, it's scandalous to drop those kinds of points at home, as we did this afternoon.

I think Carlo has improved this year in terms of getting the players motivated. I don't know if it's because the team doesn't pick itself anymore due to us having options, but our home form has been superb. Shame to spoil it yesterday. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
