Berlusconi: Bring me Adriano!
Saturday 30 June, 2007

Milan President Silvio Berlusconi admits Andriy Shevchenko is too expensive, but publicly asks Inter for Adriano!

The patron has never disguised his fondness for Sheva, even after the £30m move to Chelsea leaving the door wide open for a surprise comeback.

“Shevchenko is always in first place for me, but Roman Abramovich is asking too much. Shevchenko would have no problem in returning to us and I am convinced he would be the ideal partner for Ronaldo.”

“Our fans must relax. We will get a great player, but without rushing it, as it is important to have patience,” said the patron after missing out on David Suazo to rivals Inter.

“Cagliari offered us Suazo, then when we discovered it was not possible to sign him, we stepped aside and refused to put obstacles in Inter’s path.”

The good rapport between the two ‘cugini’ could also see a shock summer transfer, as Suazo’s arrival pushes Adriano out of the Nerazzurri squad. Could Milan swoop for the unsettled hitman?

“If only! I have always liked Adriano a great deal and think that he would be at ease at Milan among all the Brazilians we have here,” smiled Berlusconi.

“Milan are a huge family and being here would give him the opportunity to express himself at his best, just as Ronaldo already has.”

This is not the first time that the thought of Adriano wearing the Rossoneri jersey has crossed the front pages, but Berlusconi takes it a step further.

“With what happened recently I’m not sure if it will be possible, as I called Massimo Moratti to organise a friendly match so Milan and Inter could celebrate their success together, but we haven’t been able to find a date yet.

“Having said that, I repeat that I would very much like Adriano at Milan if we could reach an agreement with Inter.”

Other candidates for the forward role include Samuel Eto’o and Ronaldinho, but Barcelona have stated the pair are not for sale.

“I also want to remind fans that we already have an important new player – Ronaldo can now compete for us in the Champions League.”

Meanwhile, Milan are closing in on former Juventus and Roma midfielder Emerson, who will not be needed at Real Madrid after Fabio Capello’s dismissal.

The Brazilian, known as ‘Puma’, has reportedly already been in negotiations with the Rossoneri for some time and finally got the all-clear to leave Madrid.

I don't think there's any chance of this happening. sad.gif

Adriano move just gained 100% possibility. We miss Suazo, merda get a great player and they dont need the rubbish anymore. Silvio wants him, and the merda will probably send them to us for free.

Damn.

Do you really think so?

I don't think they'll sell to us after the Suazo thing, but in any case, when Adriano actually puts effort in, he could run rings round Suazo with his eyes closed.

Posted by: dst Jun 30 2007, 01:09 PM

If the Merda have learned anything from the past they won't give Adriano to us. And I hope that is the case!

Posted by: Portikins Jun 30 2007, 02:11 PM

Of course it won't happen. Adriano is Moratti's "son". Just like Ronaldo was. Like a jewell.

And they did it with Pirlo and Seedorf. That won't happen in this situation. Plus I don't like the idea of giving some millions to Inter... rolleyes.gif

I don't think Adriano is the man we need upfront. He has talent, huge talent and quality, just no motivation. Cassano like.

In their 99 years of history, they didnt lear or change much,so,...no, Moratti is a creature not capable of learning,.. biggrin.gif

Guys, I like to hear Silvio talk. He has that calmness that really gives you the feeling everythings allright and we are on top of the world,..

God, I hope not. We don't need the Party Boy teaming up with Ronaldo again.

Another season of the management toying with the fans by throwing out big names (Henry, Dinho), hanging on to past glory (Sheva) and getting wet over table scraps (Adriano). If I were a diehard Milan fan, I'd be apoplectic.

Berlusconi On Adriano: "I Hope We Can Strike A Deal With Inter"

Silvio Berlusconi revealed on this morning’s Gazzetta dello Sport that he would enjoy having Adriano at Milan.

The Inter forward has been linked with the Rossoneri over the last few days, and the Italian media continue to hint towards a secret deal between the two Milan rivals.

The agreement, it is being rumoured, was already reached when Milan agreed to back out and let David Suazo go to Inter.

The Rossoneri (using the deal they had reached with Cagliari) allowed the Honduran striker to leave for Inter only in exchange for Adriano, and the two teams will supposedly be working out the financial details of the deal in these days.

Milan supremo Silvio Berlusconi dropped a big hint today, admitting that he would be delighted if the move went through.

"It would be great if we can sign him!" he said. "I’ve always like Adriano and I think that he would enjoy it here.

"There are many Brazilians, and we are a big family.

"He could give his best with us. The same happened to Ronaldo. If we can reach a deal with Inter, I would like to sign him."

The Milan supremo also spoke of the Suazo affair: "It was Cagliari who offered the player to us.

"When we thought that it wasn’t possible to sign him, we backtracked, without bothering Inter."

I think whatever we do, it's impossible to please some Milan fans.

I've seen over this transfer window that the majority of you are against 'bad @ss' players like Cassano and Adriano, regardless of the talent they have. You only feel like getting 'good boys' like Kaka', Gila or whoever.

Sheva: Is not welcomes back by the majority.
Drogba: He's not even happy to stay at Chelsea and he starts every game, what's he going to do when we play the christmas tree and he's on the bench?
Adriano: He has this 'party boy' image at Inter, because they can't handle players. So you don't want him.
Cassano: Well, we all know about his attitude.
Ronaldinho: Whether with Milan, Barca, Brazil or anybody else, he'll do things when he wants, not when the club wants. With the money we'd have to pay up for him, one bad game and the fans would turn on him, no question.
Eto'o: If he doesn't play every minute of every game, he'll start stropping and fall out with the manager.

Any good player we bring in will have their problems, we could try and fix most of them. The only one people sems happy to bring in is R10 and he's about the most 'unfixable'. rolleyes.gif

Either we get a striker with problems, or another Oli. Cassano would be the best choices, they're both young, both available, and proven in Italy.

There aren't many good players about with a good attitude, which makes sense.

You look at any sport, 99% of the top players have an attitude problem. They know they can play, so they feel they can do/say whatever they like.

There aren't many 'professionals' around in todays game, none that are good enough to interest us anyways.

Posted by: dst Jul 1 2007, 12:39 PM

I think there are enough of them out there for us to complete our squad! I don't care what other teams need! tongue.gif

NO RUSH OR FEAR

President Silvio Berlusconi has put the Milan fans at ease by stating that the club have time to sign a really top player

President Silvio Berlusconi has been speaking about the transfer market and the arrival of a top player. He said: 'Shevchenko is always in first place for me but Abramovich asks for too much. Shevchenko would have no problems returning and would be the ideal player to play alongside Ronaldo. Then there is Ronaldinho but I know it is an impossible dream because the Barcelona president is elected by the club members and he's said he couldn't remain in Spain. Eto'o is also difficult as there is a different fiscal situation in Spain which allows players there to have much more than ours.'

On Adriano and Cassano: 'I have always like Adriano a lot and we would get on with all the Brazilians at Milan. I would only come to agreement with Inter if there were no problems. I don't know Cassano as a person but he's very talented. We have never had any problems at Milan with anyone.'

Kakà situation: 'This story is tiring and we are fed up with Real Madrid. Kakà will not leave.'

On the defence: The heir to Maldini? We will find a young defender as we found Kakà in attack. Cannavaro? He was a youngster in the years of Costacurta and Maldini but we will be pointing to a youngster.'

On Gourcuff: 'We believe in this youngster, he could become the new Zidane. We were very interested in Emerson but his arrival could hold Gourcuff back.'

Same quotes from acmilan.com.

Fed up with Madrid? Do tell.

There can be no heir to Maldini... how could they ask such a question!?? mad.gif

I like it that they believe in Yoann but I can't see how Emerson would hold him back!

Is there a young top-defender avaible?

Posted by: kurtsimonw Jul 1 2007, 03:18 PM

No available ones that I know of.

But I quite like what I saw of Benfica/Brazil U21 David Luiz at the end of last season, although he did only played a dozen or so games, and I didn't see all of them. But I liked what I saw none the less.

I think he signed for Benfica in January(?), so I highly doubt he'd be available in the near future. But he's only 20, so even if we didn't get him anytime soon, he would still be young. smile.gif

EDIT: Scratch that, I just searched him up, he signed a five year deal last month. rolleyes.gif

This is the reason Milan will eventually be full of South Americans.

You can't buy a top prospect in Europe without the likes of Barca/Real/Chelsea/United/Liverpool knowing about them, this will cause a bidding war, which Milan don't seem interested in.

This causes us to find lesser known players in South America, where, unsurprisingly, there are no Italian youngsters. rolleyes.gif

If you look at our current starting XI, how many of them did we buy as unknowns, or very young players, that turned into stars? For me, Kaka' is the only one.

Dida: We didn't even realise his potential until he was nearly 30.
Oddo: We let him go, then signed him for E7m or so while he was 30!
Nesta: Was not cheap at E30m. Or very young at 26.
Maldini: He's been with us since the beginning, I don't know whetehr we found him, or he chose us.
Januklovski: I'm not sure how much he cost, but he wa already 28 and proven in Italy.
Seedorf: He'd won Champions League titles with Real/Ajax, enough said.
Pirlo: Was a very good find, but the fact he already played in Milan was a huge factor.
Kaka': In my opinion the ONLY great prospect we've bought in a while.
Gatusso: We spent £8m on him, and he'd already played for Rangers.
Gila: Spent a bomb load on him.
R9: Everybody on the planet knows him.

Gourcuff is another young player we've found that could be great, only time will tell.

We had been following him since he was 16! We had some kind of deal with Dynamo.

About the others:
Dida: Was a joke when we signed him, we turned him into gold.
Maldini: He chose Milan when his family moved in Milano. He was a Giuve fan then.
Pirlo: Not unknown but if Milan had not signed him he'd be playing in some low-table team now.
Gatusso: Was a 'foreigner'... I don't think any other team would show such powerful trust in him.

You guys are fighting over nothing... tongue.gif

Milan don't need to find youngsters simply because the policy of the club is NOT to find youngsters. They don't want to build a team for the future, they want a team for the present, a team that has the potential to win everything right on the instant! That doesn't mean they can't find youngsters though, they do when they see the need for it...

I was referring to the club, and the club know what they are looking for in a player and not just who the fans hype up and want wink.gif

Now .. Milan doesn't look for these young unproven players. That is why they take advice from experts such as Leonardo before exploring these options. Milan is a very BIG club .. They don't bring in any player, all the fans know this rolleyes.gif

Most of what u said I agree with .. But that wasn't my point to begin with rolleyes.gif

My point was exactly what the president of Milan had stated, a young player (just as Kaka was, before he came) who doesn't have to be south american rolleyes.gif will take Paolo's place.

Posted by: Fillipo Simone Jul 1 2007, 04:51 PM

I really dont know what are you fighting about,..we all know how things work with Milan, the discover and buy one or two players (like they did with Kaka, Boban, etc.) and mix it with the other two components in our team - home-made players (like Albertini, Baresi, Maldini, Billy, etc.) and players who had the luck to join Milan.

That knid of players should also be considered as Milan discoverys, or better, Milan projects, yes we turned them into gold.
@dst is right with Dida, remeber his first app., against Leeds in the CL tongue.gif ?
Or Pirlo,...yes, he`d probably waist his time at Lazio or Fiora right now,...but these things have allways be the same - Pirlo = Eranio or Donadoni, Rino = Carletto, Gila = Massaro (only we didnt pay that much),...

The only thing I wanted to say is, that it is really much harder these days to discover, locate and sign a young talented defender who will probably turn into something than for any other position,...

I was kinda, trying to say something like that in some sort of way. tongue.gif

It's hard to locate great young players full stop, in my opinion.

UNLESS you're willing to pay stupid amounts of money, like Real and Inter are.

P.S. I'm not entirely sure why we were fighting, I think we completely missed what each other was trying to say. rolleyes.gif

Well, if you're looking for a quality young Italian defender, there is one. Chiellini. Only problem is that he's got Zebra cooties and I really doubt Juve would let him go.
