it is a must win if we want to be in race for scudetto this year. if we fail to win it will be another failed year from us!
We are playing without maldini and flamini because of the one match ban!
Our defense will probably be Zambro, Senderos, Favali, Janku! I hope for bonera or mattioni but i dont believe this will happen!
Becks is doubtful because of the muscular injury, with Becks doubtful, flamini banned and gatuso injured, our midfield line is set to consist of Clarence Seedorf, Massimo Ambrosini and Pirlo.
And upfront we will play with Kaka, Ronaldinho and Pato for sure!
So, this time is everything more or less clear, so we must win with injury problems and with some crucial players banned (maldini) a hard away match with lazio witch is miles away from some real form. I think we can do this and must do this if we wont to pose some real thread to inter this year.

AT THE OLIMPICO WITH PRIDE1/31/2009 3:53:00 PMOn the eve of the away match in Rome, Carlo Ancelotti spoke during the press conference about the delicate clash against the Biancocelesti: “We shall find a warm environment, it will be a delicate match.”MILANELLO – These are the declarations of Carlo Ancelotti during the press conference on the eve of Lazio-Milan scheduled tomorrow evening at 8.45pm at the Olimpico stadium of Rome:
ON TOMORROW EVENING’S CLASH AGAINST LAZIO“Lazio arrive to tomorrow’s game in a moment of difficulty and we will find a warm environment. They could have the opportunity to redeem themselves, because playing against a big team like Milan, in such a moment, can give a lot of motivation to do well. It will therefore be a very delicate match.”
ON THE DRAW AGAINST GENOA AND THE MOMENT OF THE TEAM“Against Genoa we have lost two points on the road and tomorrow we will have the chance to recover them. The team is fine and is proving it in some game situations, we must only succeed to manage better the moments in which we control less the game. This team is not built to play a defensive game and therefore when we slow down the rhythm we suffer the game of our opponents.”
ON THE RAPPORT BETWEEN SEEDORF AND THE PUBLIC“I’m sorry that an important player like Seedorf, who gave a lot for this shirt, is not given the right recognition, but we all know that in football recognition does not matter. Even now Clarence is doing well and we’re sorry to see prevention against him.”
ON BECKHAM AND A POSSIBLE ADDITION ON THE UEFA CUP LIST“We will hand the ‘Uefa List’ tomorrow evening by midnight. An eventual addition of Beckham to the list would be our right and not a forced one. The choice of the players to add to the list is a delicate one and will be made by taking into consideration also the fact that Gattuso is proving that he is recovering earlier than expected; Nesta is recovering and Borriello could return in time. Therefore it will be a careful evaluation in consideration also of the psychological affect on the players.”
ON THE INDIVIDUAL PLAYERS“Bonera is still feverish, but he’s still coming to Rome with us in the hope that the fever goes away.
Borriello: he’s a player who we’re missing, because for the characteristics that he has, we have aimed a lot on him and we continue to do so. Unfortunately he was hit bit an infinite series of injuries and bad luck and he will not return before one month.
Ronaldinho: this week he trained well. He is surely sorry that he did not start from the beginning, but he proved to work well this week and is ready to play.
Shevchenko: he is working well, but he was used little because during this period the game of Pato and Kaka in the offensive phase satisfied me a lot and I did not want to change the game in attack.
Nesta is working well and in these fifteen days he did not have any problem. Next week he will start with the direction changes and to work with the ball. He could be on the pitch around February 20 and from February 10 he should resume the work with the team.
Beckham: today he had a reduced training session, we shall evaluate his condition tomorrow because he is recovering from some tiredness.”
ON THE TRANSFER MARKET“Even when Beckham will leave, the midfield role is covered because we have Flamini available and eventually there is the possibility of moving Jankulovski forward like it happened before. Therefore we did not deem necessary to go in the transfer market of January, also because there is optimism around Nesta’s return.”
ON THE GAP FROM INTER IN THE LEAGUE“There have been many games in which we could have ended the clash before and we did not succeed. Running after a team is always more tiring than maintaining the distance because there is a lot of pressure. You cannot get wrong games, but the important thing is that the team continues to play like it did in the past games in which I liked the way we performed.”

Isn't Carlo tired of repeating that sentence week in, week out?!

What he says here contradicts what he does at the games. he almost always makes defensive substitutions which obviously slow down the game, and subsequently our own offensive play. yet he says that is the problem...

I noticed that too. I think he might be at war with himself or something. Like Me, Myself and Irene or My Own Worst Enemy. On the bench, he is Mr. Wussbag and during interviews Mr. Intellectual.
But what I don't understand is why he is not pushing for a solid defender. Senderos and Favalli in the center for AC Milan just doesn't do it.

Because he's
optimistic Nesta will return soon. and if he somehow doesn't [which is quite likely considering he's been returning since the start of the season!], we're screwed!
After all, they ought to have a good alibi for our poor performances in defense. what better than Nesta's absence?

Abbiati, Dida, Donnarumma (n.50), Antonini, Bonera, Darmian, Favalli, Jankulovski, Mattioni, Senderos, Zambrotta, Ambrosini, Beckham, Emerson, Pirlo, Inzaghi, Kakà, Pato, Seedorf, Shevchenko, Ronaldinho.
Indisponibili: Nesta, Gattuso, Kaladze, Borriello, Kalac, Cardacio.
Squalificati: Flamini, Maldini.

Gag me. Even Becks has put in more of an effort in the time he's been here than Seedorf has all season.

Gazzetta's probable lineup:
Abbiati
Zambrotta Bonera Favalli Jankulovski
Seedorf Pirlo Ambrosini
Kaka Ronaldinho
Pato
I would like to see Senderos get a start, he deserves a shot I think. Bonera might not be ready, so we might see Senderos-Favalli, so hopefully we can score a lot cuz we will definitely concede.

Again great work by Becks for the goal and for the disallowed goal. Thought the second goal should have stood as Pato looked level, although I thought he was offside for the goal. We need to start playing better if we are to keep the three points IMO.

I hope this lead puts up extra pressure and Lazio breaks.
Senderos is doing rather good when comparing to the game-display I've imagined. Still, he is an insult to every fan who's respecting Milan's defender legacy.
I hope we can see Sheva soon. He's the one we could need.
Pato has a very average game, and still scores, which only shows the boy is gorwing up fast.
Posted by: KakaIlCapitano Feb 1 2009, 09:34 PM
we are not playing well but we are leading and this is the only good thing in our first half with becks, pato and kaka offcourse, with some good substitution we will win this one i hope! R80 for Seedorf for sure will be one of the substitutions we need, not only because seedorf is playing really bad , but in this case kaka will be closer to a ball and we definitely need this.
Posted by: Fillipo Simone Feb 1 2009, 09:38 PM
I think we're neglecting a very good Abbiati and a solid (at least) Jankulovski.
Kaka - to me, still nothing special. I mean, he's doing nothing more then his usual job. The same criteria applied I'd say Ambrosini is good as well.

We play Inter in a couple off weeks and we're just 1 place behind them and 6 points between us. We're breathing down their necks and with their CL ties coming up I'm hoping for some screw up on their part and we reclaim top spot after our brief stint their for just one week, only this time we maintain it

Posted by: Fillipo Simone Feb 1 2009, 10:36 PM
What this match means:
1. Milan play bad or average (at least IMO), Kaka is on off-mode, still we win, and with 3 goals
2. Beckham is more then expected...much more...
3. Darmain seems to be moved "in" the Ancelotti scheme. You see, when Ancelotti starts bringing someone in, he usually sticks to it. That could mean we'll see more of young Matteo.
Question: Why the hell did Kaka cry after that goal?
(I'm to broke now to make match-ratings, gonna do that tomorrow..)

I don't see how that's right when someone like Seedorf is taking that place.
A player that doesn't give a sh!t about anything and isn't afraid to show it with the way he plays. I would be a lot happier if Dinho was the one starting and someone like Seedorf is shown the bench and is asked to get his act together
A player that is only here for 3 months and stands to gain nothing whether we win somethin and the end of the season or not plays with more heart for this team, that should say enough about Seedorf

It was not offside.
Beckham was being kept onside by one Lazio player's bum (yes bum as in @ss!) Pato in that scene was offside but it didn't matter as the ball was passed to Beckham not Pato. and everything afterwards was clearly valid.

Thing is I've seen Seedorf do more in a game than R80 ever has. I agree that Seedorf picks the games that he wants to 'play' in but R80 doesn't even do that. I have never seen R80 take the game by the scruff in the same way I have seen Seedorf and Ricky do. In fact even Becks has done more in the short space of time he's been here than R80 - and Becks didn't have the firework spectacle when he started for us!

To be honest, all Ronaldinho has done is score a few free-kicks plus that goal against Inter. Beckham could have done the first, easily. But R80 has definitly nullified his good performance vs Inter with the shite he's done in most other games.
My main annoyance with R80 is hes sooo slow. Whenever he gets the ball he's just stand there, trying to show off about how he can take it past the defender, by the time he does it, 9 other defenders have got back!

I wouldn't be that harsh. He did score a few winners. It's very easily forgotten as it seems. I mean I agree, with the current constellation, he's a bench warmer for sure. But who scored against Inter?
I think, especially in mind that he was as you all pointed out W No.1, we should give him time. Time to adapt and time to get back on level. I still hope we can make use of him.

I'm with u in this one, I'm quite surprised by people's opinion about Ronaldinho being "not needed" at Milan. Yes at the moment, we have found the balance we need to win games. But, I think we need him for the big games, he's a player that can turn water into wine (i.e. Inter, Roma, Juve, UEFA Cup games).

Ronaldinho will prove people wrong. it'll just take a little time.
Posted by: Jack Sparrow Feb 2 2009, 11:13 AM
Yeah..time. He's too good to not improve. The thing is we're not in a position where can sacrifice team balance so R80 can get his mojo back. We can't make mistakes anymore.

Things is, R10 never really did that for Barca either, he was always a 'moments'type of player, he produces 3 moments of brilliance in a match and 2 out of those 3 moments he'll turn the game on your side. Case in point when Barca played us in the San Siro, he wasn't really that great, but then he makes a brilliant assist seemingly out of nothing.
Sure he was fitter and quicker back then so his overall play was better, but he was always a 'lazy' player, he doesn't track back, he likes to wait in his position for the ball. That's Ronnie for you, you can't really compare Beckham to him because he's all about great work rate, the typical English player.

Seedorf does the same exact thing, he slows down play by either passing backwords or trying to go past players himself, he always has to dwell on the ball, sometimes when he's in one of his moods he loses the ball alot too.
And I don't think R10s only good performance was against Inter only, he's had some good, some bad and some so, so games. But even when he's had bad games he still stepped up and chipped in with goals when we needed them. He along with Pato has won us the most points this season.

yes now everyone of you is smart, when beckham came almost everyone wrote that we dont need him, that he is a marketing move and now everyone of you is very smart. admit that you had wrong and dont write bullshit. Ronny is a big player and he proved that this season. He is not on 100% but he is still a great player. Dont write that seedorf had a good game yesterday, he was totally lazy. he was the worst on the pitch and Ronny is better than him for sure. He is playing only because in this case kaka can play the second striker..... End of discussion. Ronny will prove what a class he is! Again!

Great match !! A very, very intense first half and then Milan's patiance and tactical superiority paid off in the second half. Three points in the bag
Juve is breaking down and la merda will have a lot to think about as the CL clash with United is right after the derby ...
ATM, Milan is in good form, the team has finally found the right balance and I hope this run of form continues for at least the next couple of games.
Beckham has just recently started to convert goals and assist them, but it was against Hamburg in the friendly where I saw a very tactically intellegent player ... While most were raving about him being a marketing tool and downgraded him as a player, he really took to the pitch and made the Milan fans proud
Ronaldinho is Ronaldinho ... There is no point in swaying back and forth .. The reason he hasn't peaked in Milan yet is very simply because Serie A is different to La Liga and the fact that he is integrating into a new system. There is no question in my mind that he will get back to his best soon, it's a matter of when and not if.
And Seedorf during the game took on a more central role and distributed the balls side ways more often, so as to bring Becks, Pirlo and the fullbacks into the game ... That was clearly what the coached asked from him. As it is rediculous to question his talent, just take a look at the one-twos that he played with Kaka' before he assisted the third goal.

LOL if R80 is so great then how come he spends most of his time warming the bench? Fact of the matter is that we can't afford too many lazy players on the pitch. As lazy as Seedorf is, at least he gives us an outlet and is quite a tactical player.

the way this forum changes their opinions on a player is miraculous.
i didn't see people complaining about r80 when he was the only one to score a goal in a game. we would've lost a handful of games this year without r80's goals (inter anyone?)
up until last game r80 had more goals than anyone else on our team. now he is tied with pato and kaka.
from day 1 he took pressure off kaka just by being on the field. that allowed kaka to not get the living crap beat out of him each and every game.
we always complain about not having enough quality players on the field and on the bench, and as soon as we start getting to the point where we do, you guys want to get rid of him.
i'm guessing after beckham's form wavers for a few games everyone here will go after him as well.

yes now everyone of you is smart, when beckham came almost everyone wrote that we dont need him, that he is a marketing move and now everyone of you is very smart. admit that you had wrong and dont write bullshit. Again!
Um I'm actually in favour of Dinho starting and Seedorf sitting out.
I only said that Dinho was lazy because it's true, he's always been that way even in his best days at Barca, he was lazy. He likes to wait for the ball, he doesn't track back. But he is a match winning player.
I personally think Seedorf slows down the play way more then Dinho ever does.
And about Beckham, I personally was in the 'no oppinion' corner when it came to the Beckham transfer, I acknowledged that the club did it for marketing reasons rather then footballing ones and I accepted because I know we're in a rough spot because of not being in the CL. Did I expect him to play the way he's playing? No, an I grateful for it? yes. Does Beckham deserve the praise? Of course he does. I even said that he should be an example to a player like Seedorf, someone that is only here for a mere 3 months cares more about matches then a player like Seedorf, who always picks and chooses games and if he's benched or subbed out of games he act like a pre madonna.
I think Ronaldinho is a long way from his best but he offers more then Seedorf does, he's also been putting effort in games, unlike Seedorf who 95% of the time doesn't seem like he gices a cr@p about the game.

Just because a few members said something bad about R80 doesn't mean the whole forum are against him. In fact there a lot of people who think that R80 should start before Seedorf. A couple of matches on the bench would do Seedorf good but Carlo loves him too much to do that.

Part of the reason, the other is that Carlo is too afraid of what tantrum Seedorf might throw if he's left on the bench

We were winning matches when Pirlo was out... does that mean he should not be used again when he came back? It's collective work, if the team is winning it does not mean that everything is going well nor that everyone is doing well... it does not mean the opposite either I'm just saying I don't think you have a point there.

So my point isn't as good as arguments like "Carlo is afraid of Seedorf" or "our coach loves the dutchman"?
I don't know. I just think Seedorf's form right now isn't exactly excellent, but while he still hasn't cost us much, Dinho has in some matches and that's what makes the difference.

So...good weekend to be a Milan fan.
The Gobbi are totally outclassed AT HOME by Cagliari. (Sadly for the Azzurri, they also lost Chiellini for another month).
Toro draw the cugini at the San Siro (anyone notice it was Abate who provided the assist for Bianchi's goal?)
Milan win again against Lazio.
Good general performance though I agree with Sacchi (interview on mediaset) that the team still lacks a certain cohesion, especially in the midfield.
Nice to see no DMs subbed in. And it was especially nice to see young Darmian get a few minutes. Anyone else notice that the other guys seemed to make a point of passing him the ball?

Most of our players are wonderful human beings everything else aside. It's often overlooked, but people like Maldini, Costacurta, Nesta, Pirlo, Favalli... Are just such giving and generous players.
I personally don't think many people understand or comprehend how difficult it is to be like Maldini. I'm going a bit off-topic here... But every time a new player shows up and says they are gonna be the next Maldini for their team or this team... I just wanna say to them... "No you won't. You have no clue." It takes extreme discipline to behave humanely just through one single game. With all the nasty fouls and tackles and trash talk... To do it over 20 years and be an example on AND off the pitch... And even physically... What he is doing right now... Playing at this level at his age... And we haven't even covered ability... So all you "new Maldinis" out there... Shut up.

Still, I hope Darmian turns out another Maldini for us! [not the next Maldini. "another Maldini". why not?
