Yeah but who cares about the scudetto in the derby. What does it change? Whether Inter win it next week or after two weeks the deal is done. What matters is the Roma game.

IMO if we stand a chance to go through we should play a proper 4-2-3-1 with Pulisic AM and Okafor CF. Giroud and RLC have been trash lately. And we?re too static with them on the pitch.

This team has no balls. Every time it matters they sh*t themselves never showing up. Always these apathetic displays with no desire and determination. I'm so fed up with this attitude. Starting from Leao. What a shitshow from him last night.

Then don't even get me started on the tactics. Pioli, a seasoned coach with decades of experience on his shoulders getting outplayed by a novice like De Rossi. All it took was shifting El Shaarway on the right to close the spaces for Theo and Leao and all of a sudden we had no game plan.

Then his inability to read the game midway and change things. Instead of subbing in Adli, Chukweuze and Okafor for the non-exitsent Bennacer, RLC and Giroud at half-time, he waits and waits when even someone who understands nothing of football could see we were completely blocked on the pitch. The players weren't moving. Roma had closed all spaces. They were pressing like crazy and were always first on each ball. What does he do? Nothing.

That's why he needs to leave. This is enough.

I would assume that he will go Isma-Reijnders against Roma, he just rotated Isma out since he's more delicate than Tijjani.

As for the defence, I hope It's Gabbia-Kjaer. Gabbia has been great since coming back, especially when playing next to Kjaer. On the other hand, Thiaw has looked like he needs to relearn how to play football again since coming back from injury. The f@ck ups he's committing are truly bad. And Gabbia loses all his confidence when playing with him as well. So Kjaer is the obvious choice there and I assume is why he was given a few minutes yesterday as well.

Yeah, but I think Thiaw is a better match-up for Lukaku.

Assist aside, he's always underwhelming to me.

His supposed best trait is his passing, and he rarely opens up play, switches play with quick/long passes. Always goes the easy route, holds the ball for far too long and makes dangerous speculative decisions, especially when playing so deep.

Today he didn't even make those dangerous decisions. He limited himself to the simple short pass. I must have counted 7-8 occasions when his teammates were in good positions and he didn't even bother. Underwhelming.

Against Roma we must start with Bennacer-Reijnders. Isma too must give himself a wake up call cos he's been very meh lately.

Too bad we'll miss Tomori due to suspension. I reckon it'll be Gabbia with their Thiaw (injured today) or Kjaer.

The issue with Maignan for example is that we have to renew his deal this summer or he should be sold. He wants big wages and he's had issues with his performances this season, not to mention he's had one big injury each season he's been with us.

We cannot give him more than Leao/Theo imo. A GK can be replaced and is not worth f@cking up the entire salary structure over.

We might be in a healthy situation now, but things could easily slide if we are not vigilant. I'd personally sell Mike this summer if he does not renew by August.

We can think big while also being realistic, a relegated side in the PL will make more this season than Inter who will win the Serie A.

Tonali last summer was a smart decision, we can do the same with another player this summer. Otherwise we're not going to spend like we did last summer

I agree, the core is good, and we must renew Theo's deal at all costs, but we need to sign a top CF and a top DM next summer imo, and those are 2 of the most expensive positions to fill in football.

I think a DM is far more important than a RB, but that's just me. We lost points in games like the ones against Napoli and conceded so many goals this season because we do not have a proper DM who can control the play. Bennacer has not been the same since coming back, we have to be honest with ourselves on that one, plus he's very injury prone and not dependable.

Again, you're not considering the fact they we don't need to sell.

Forget the rumours about Maignan wanting insane wages. It was confirmed that was all BS. His demands are around 6M, we can easily reach an agreement at 5.5M like with Leao. And yes, he hasn't been superb this season, but he's still one of the best GK's in the world and last night's game confirmed it.

This new ownership keeps talking about wanting to win, about wanting to bring back the CL. Well, to do that first and foremost you keep your best players.

And I disagree about the DM situation. Sure I wouldn't say no to a quality DM, but on the right we are in catastrophic conditions and that needs to be fixed ASAP.

Bennacer is coming from a serious injury, I can accept him not being in top form. But his qualities are unquestionable and as a metronome+ball winner he's one of the best in the league.

PS: I wouldn't be surprised if we sold Tonali because we knew of his gambling problems and that we would lose him for a full year.

You know I have been a huge proponent to the PioliOut brigade, but I must confess that I've been re-thinking my position on that. The managerial marry-go-round this summer is going to be ridiculous, with many top teams potentially looking to change managers (Liverpool, United, Chelsea, Barcelona, Bayern, Juve). I don't think we can be competitive in that market. Pioli has made me insanely angry for a while now, but he seems to have held the team together and kept the players behind him even through the real worst of times.

We're improving in our play and our form has been impeccable since the turn of the year, the only blemish being that Monza game where Jovic f@cked us over.

I think if the management give him a top CF and a DM, we'll be very competitive with him as our coach next season

Inter have been unreal this year, I think the season they're having is a one off. Yes, we f@cked up games we shouldn't have, and once again we were in an injury crises of our own making which contributed to said f@ck ups.

But, we made a lot of changes this summer an Pioli took it in stride and matched his best season with us so far, which ended with a title.

Pioli will still be under contract next season, I think we should let him have another season, with the right upgrades, I think he can deliver again.

And I never thought I'd say this after January 2023

Nah man, you're letting the results get to your head. As I said this team is full of problems. And Pioli has ended his cycle. Guys like Conte or Thago Motta would bring so much more to the table. It's time to part ways.

Pioli said something yesterday after the match which is very true. We have 14 points of gap with Inter. This whole difference was generated in late October / early November, when we played 4 consecutive games and made only 2 points: Juventus (L), Napoli (D), Udinese (L) and Lecce (D). Inter instead made 4/4, thus 12 points. That's your 10 points of difference, which adding the derby loss gives you 13 points out of the 14.

Because other than that we have made a very good run, it must be said. I don't like the sort of football we play, I don't like the attitude of our players most of the time, we're not consistent and our defensive game is a mess. But still we've collected 65 points which if I'm not mistaken is on par or even better than our scudetto season.

It really sucks because we conceded the scudetto win to Inter very easily. We could have put a very good challenge, there were no other opponents. But we fumbled like a bunch of losers and that's why Pioli needs to go.

We wouldn't have to sell any of the big 3 though, that's the thing. Because we don't have to. We don't need money. We have zero debts, and we even ended last year with a positive net result. Our financial situation is excellent.

It's time we started thinking big. And by big I mean keep all of our good players and strengthen the squad in the weak areas.

We need AT ALL COST a quality RB and a quality CF. Then of course adjust things here and there, like get rid of Chukweuze and maybe sign a better winger, sign a bench CF (Jovic is not good enough, Giroud will leave), replace Kjaer etc. But our core is strong.

Maignan, Tomori, Thiaw, Theo, Reijnders, Bennacer, Musah, Loftus, Leao, Pulisic, Okafor. These are all young and quality players that should be kept as the foundation of the new Milan. I'd even throw in guys like Gabbia and Adli for good measure.

Of course for this to finally take off the first and most important step would be to get rid of Pioli and sign a top coach.

Also, just wanted to say that I really love Pulisic. He might not be world class, but he fights like a lion and has the mentality of a winner. He only cares about football, unlike someone else I know *cough*Leao*cough* who's too busy with his music career and other off-the-pitch BS.

He rotated the midfield. And had that red card not happened we'd have probably lost that tie the way we were playing

I'm sorry, but Adli cannot be a starter against teams who press us. He's such a huge liability.

Musah and RLC as well were all over the place. We practically play without a midfield. Bennacer at least gives us structure.

I'm afraid for Pioli nowadays there are no starters in midfield (aside from Loftus). Adli, Bennacer and Reijnders all could play, depends on his choices. Musah less so, although I thought he was pretty decent last night. Definitely not all over the place.

Personally I'd always play Bennacer and Reijnders. They are by far the best in those roles. But even when he does Pioli for some f*cked up reason will play Bennacer more advanced than Reijnders -___-

Nah, line-up was fine. We cannot afford to rotate in these EL games, regardless if it's Slavia or anyone else. It's the only silverware we can win this year. CL spot in Italy is 99% secured, especially now that Italy most probably will have 5 spots for next year.

It was a disastrous performance. Many players simply not bothering at all. Aside from Reijnders and Pulisic, everyone else was snoozing. And we conceded 2 goals against a 10-man Slavia FFS!

We're not gonna win this tournament, let's be honest. Many other sides are better than us.

I can't wait to have Pioli gone, as I'm sure this team will be revamped under a new capable coach. Look at Roma! They looked dead with Mourinho, but De Rossi has transformed them into an entirely new animal in a month. And it's De Rossi, not Guardiola. Just goes to show how important the coach figure is in a club. Not just tactically, but also as a motivating factor. I'm convinced many players in this team just have abandoned Pioli, and management knows this.

Btw, the midfield composition we've got going right now is not only giving me nightmares but it gives me a nauseous feeling when I watch it.

Bennacer, all over the place, RLC playing nearly next to Giroud, Adli the only one central is slow as f@ck

We leave so many wide open spaces in the centre of the pitch. Why are we not lining up the mids in a flat 3 FFS? It looks like a f@cked up 4-2-3-1 that constantly leaves us exposed

And why isn't Tijjani starting games suddenly FFS?? We're so much better with him on the pitch, especially paired with Benna (who was @ss today btw). For me RLC is the weakest one in terms of movement/passing. Sure he has the phisique and has popped up with goals as of late. But he makes so many bad decisions and take so much time to pass.

Adli also can be such a big liability at times.

I'd rather see a flat RLC, Benna, Tijjani midfield. I think it's a much better mix. Still no natural holding mid, but all are relatively quick and strong so they should hold their own. The 4-2-3-1 is just leaving us wide open

Agreed completely about the midfield. This is a testament of how incapable Pioli is as a tactician.

When we started the season I was so sure it'd be a classic 4-3-3 with Bennacer (once he'd return) in the middle and Reijnders and RLC on the sides. A flat midfield, classic and simple. Instead he's been messing things up throughout the entire course of the season, trying weird stuff and never being consistent.

Bennacer is a regista, point. RLC is a box-to-box mid, not a trequartista. And Reijnders MUST be played in a more advanced role and not relegated in front of the defence. The fact Pioli doesn't grasp this speaks volumes about how incompetent he is.

PS: The Lazio defender though, what a dumbass! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Orsato cost us the game today

We've been so unlucky with these BS penalty calls all season. So many being given against us.

We played well today, finally a good performance that deserved much more. Leao looks like he's back in his groove as well so I'm happy about that at least.

We can still get that 2nd spot ahead of Juve, it's not much but it's better than 3rd. Making sure that the other teams don't gain ground on us will be key to try to go far in Europe. Lazio next away from home and it's a must win.

There are no must-win games anymore in the league for us. Just huff and puff and hope we somehow don't screw up in the end, but with Italy closely getting that 5th spot for the CL, we look very comfortable. Whether we finish 2nd or 4th matters like if none at all.

And yes, Orasto did cost us the game. One of the ugliest penalties I've ever seen given. Shameful for a referee considered to be Italy's best.

It's a pity that in the two games we've played our best football lately, i.e. Bologna and Atalanta we only managed to scrap a point in each.

Another penalty... My god!

What is Jovic supposed to do with that? It cam at him from closer than 10cm FFS

Once again, we have no close on how to control a game. Cannot keep possession for more than a second, keep inviting on pressure.

2 of the softest penalties you'll see. We've been a lighting rod for these all season, and it is all because we don't dictate games, we invite pressure which creates these situations

They were both clear penalties. Kjaer takes their player down, and Jovic keeps his arms too wide open. In those circumstances you have to be more careful because the rules are clear as day.

Another shameful performance to put under our belts this season.

Cannot defend to save our lives, no shape, no structure and ill-disciplined.

Make this season be over already!

I only saw the second half, and it was disastrous. We can't defend, we make foolish mistakes, we can't counterattack, we don't have a semblance of what I'd call a "game". No combinations, no overlaps, no smart passes, no movement. Just casual balls thrown around hoping that someone will pull something out of his hat.

The only reason we're 3rd in the league and we win games it's only due to the fact that we have some good players in the mix that can help in scoring goals with their individual plays. But as a collective? We're absolutely abhorrent. Pioli must GTFO as soon as the season is over because he has failed to give an identity and a winning mentality to this team.

This is what I mean about Adli x-off

Slow, contemplative, terrible decision making! Really don't rate him.

Also, Pioli's rotation striking again. Absolutely awful decisions. W have the Rennes game practically wrapped up, why not rotate in that one? Absolutely boggles the mind

He was very bad tonight, doesn't mean he's been bad in past games.

This defeat was a Pioli masterclass through and through. So many useless rotations for what? We still need to claim that CL spot. Atalanta and Roma are on fire lately, Bologna breathing down our necks as well. He could have rested 2-3 players tonight and 2-3 others against Rennes, but he goes and overhauls everything. What a dumbass!

Okafor-Jovic-Chukwueze is Serie B material. Adli was horrible tonight, Loftus very mediocre as well.

Thiaw shambolic defending. Bro looked like he was picked from the streets. That penalty fault was beyond amateurish.

And Jovic can GTFO! You're trailing 2-0 and you do that???

I switched off after the red card, but it's sad to see we equalized in the end only to lose it again. FFS.

I agree about all your points, except one: Adli. I thought he was great today, and he's been relatively good in most of his games. Yes, sometimes he takes that extra 2-3 seconds to pass, but I disagree regarding everything else you said about him. His overall passing is good, he misplaces very few passes, tries to attempt difficult through-balls, and his defensive game tonight was brilliant. So many recovered balls. I honestly thought he was our best mid tonight.

Agreed about Leao, and noticed those instances as well where he was ignored

If this season we only counted points based on the first half of games, we'd be first in the table. That is how bad our 2nd half performances are.

Those 2 league games you mentioned are the difference between where we are now vs fighting for the title. I'd also add the Napoli and Udinese first round games as well. Had we not thrown those games away, we'd have exactly 9 points more than we do now. Which would put us right there with Inter

A real shame.

I know a lot has to do with the massive injuries we've had to deal with in our defence especially, but some of it is just plain carelesness.

Nah, it's just carelessness.

Vs Napoli and Lecce you were winning 2-0 dominating them in the first half.
Vs Udinese at home regardless of anything you should have secured the 3 points.
Vs Salernitana again you were winning and dominating the game.
Vs Atalanta you conceded the most idiotic goal at the last second.

I'll concede the Juve loss cos we were down to 10 men, even though Juve were horrible in that game and managed to win thanks to a deflected shot.

But that's 10 points thrown in the trash can from the above. Just poor on every level. How to throw away a scudetto race 101.

I really don't know what's wrong with him. Every time he tries to take on his man, he's failing, when in the past he'd be successful 8 out of the 10 times he does it. He's just not had that zing about him ever since he got that injury. And this is not to excuse him, but he's very obviously just not moving as he usually would. That being said, he's even getting the simple things wrong atm. His touch, the passing, all so comically non-committal from him, and I get that that's the general vibe he gives out, but if you're not at 100% at least be fully focused enough to get the simple things right!

His pass to Theo today was beautiful though. But we need so much more from him. Thankfully we have other capable attackers this season to take on some of the burden. Can you imagine him going through this kind of slide with Alexis and Messias on the other side??

Great win today it wasn't a pretty watch at all during that 2nd half especially but by hook or by crook we got the job done against one of our biggest bogey teams. Onwards and upwards.

Leao has never had that aggressive charisma on the pitch. He's always looked unbothered and nonchalant, and it's something I've never liked about him. But at least he got a few things right that managed to bring us goals and points.

In the past 2 months though he's not been there anymore. As you said, he's not even getting the simple things right. I was very observant of his movements, especially in the first half, and I noticed that his teammates ignored him a lot. Like, a lot. There were so many instances when they could have fed the ball to him on the left but they simply chose other options. Because 9 times out of 10 it would have resulted in nothing.

I think everyone is aware of his shambolic form right now. And honestly I don't know what his problem is. He's not committed. He's not there neither mentally nor physically. In any other top club he would have been relegated on the bench with such an attitude.

As for tonight's game, classic Milan performance:
- We start well, play well, score;
- We give up two idiotic goals and we completely lose our composure playing like sh*t;
- We sporadically manage to find an equaliser.

It was the same with Lecce, Salernitana and Atalanta too. Difference is that this time around we somehow manage to win it in the end.

Pioli should resign if he had any decency.

And give up on all his wages? Nah, he should be sacked is what it is. But that's not gonna happen and we'll finish the season with him. We'll comfortably get 3rd place cos there's no competition and we'll get a new coach in June. I think that's already been decided.

Btw, Leao is probably having his worst season since he's been with us. Goal aside, what a horseshit performance. The moment he tried to dribble the Atalanta defender and comically tripped on his feet is the epitome of his season.
