Milan v Atalanta
Sunday, 18th of March 2007
Time: 14:00 (UK), 15:00 (IT)
We've no other chance - get the 3 points in San Siro. Atalanta is a mid-table team, should not be underestimated.
Forza Milan!
Prediction: 1-0.
2-0 and hopefully we play with 2 strikers please!!
3-1, I hope ronaldo scores one. Others i dont care.
Damit its in a week!!!
Predicted Starting 11:
Dida
Oddo Bonera Maldini Jankulovski
Gatusso Ambrosini Seedorf
Kaka
Ronaldo Gilardino
Predicted score: 3-0
I expect that Milan will change things and play 2 up front. I personally think Atalanta will get the back-lash after our loss to Inter.
From now on almost every game is a must win (except an away Roma game where it will be very difficult).
Prediction: 2-0.
Just 2 STRIKERS PLEASE!!
We lost to Atalanta already so let's not make it a double . A total must win after losing so much points.
Thankfully it's a wekk away so the players will get some MUCH needed rest. They couldn't go on for 90 minutes today, just total exhaustion
Must-win game, a week to prepare, so hopefully Milan does what it has to. Lazio will finish 3rd, now we need Palermo to keep dropping points.
Nesta will probably be on the bench for this one, and maybe he'll be back for Roma
2 - 1 my prediction! watch out for doni!
Kaka-Oli-Roni 3-0
Kaka-Gila-Roni 2-0
Kaka-Roni 1-0 (maybe 2-0)
Kaka-Gila 1-0 (maybe 0-0)
^
I want your predictions for Di Gennaro-Borriello!
Di Gennaro-Borriello = Drug Overdose...Match suspended.
Pirlo is suspended, Ambrosini can start in his place. Start Ronaldo-Inzaghi/Gila up front and Milan will be fine.
Milan - Atalanta -- Football Italia preview
Fresh from their derby defeat, Milan must win another local clash to continue the march on a Champions League spot.
Despite Ronaldo gaining some semblance of revenge over his old Inter teammates, Sunday still saw the Rossoneri’s 15-match unbeaten run come to an end against their most hated rivals. That left them six points adrift of fourth place, so getting back on track immediately is essential to maintain any hope of reaching the Champions League.
Il Fenomeno is again expected to start upfront, although Kaka could be aided by a second striker such as Alberto Gilardino or Ricardo Oliveira. Pippo Inzaghi, left in the stands for the derby, is further down the pecking order in Carlo Ancelotti’s mind.
The big changes will be in midfield, as the absence of the suspended Andrea Pirlo and Marco Borriello – as well as long-term injuries for Paolo Maldini, Alessandro Nesta, Kakha Kaladze and Serginho – could see Yoann Gourcuff given a creative role with Clarence Seedorf and Gennaro Gattuso out wide.
Hailing from nearby Bergamo, Atalanta have caused a few problems for the Rossoneri in recent years, drawing three of their last four visits to San Siro, including the epic 3-3 result on March 2, 2003 – a game the Orobici had been winning 3-0. Earlier this season they were defeated 2-0 at the Stadio Azzurri d’Italia with Nicola Ventola and Andrea Soncin on target. It was their first victory in that fixture since 1985 and remains Milan’s only away loss to date this year.
However, Stefano Colantuono’s boys are in shaky form at the moment, without a win in seven and sliding down the standings. As Christian Vieri is yet to make his first appearance for the club, there are serious problems upfront. Both Nicola Ventola and Riccardo Zampagna are major doubts, so Marino Defendi could be given a chance after his debut Serie A goal in the 1-1 with Parma last week. Adriano and Simone Loria return from a ban.
Man on fire: Ronaldo (Milan) – Some thought he was finished, but there is still life left in Ronaldo. Although not yet physically at his best, he’s already scored three goals since his Real switch and came back to haunt Inter last week.
Last season: Not Played

Milan should really play with 2 strikers at home, like last time against Chievo. Gila and R9 should start, with Ambro or Gourcuff in pirlo's role.
It will be interesting to see how Milan will play without Pirlo; I would like to see who Carlo would play in his role.
Though, I think Carlo would change the formation as non of our players can handle Pirlo's role. Maybe Seedorf, but still, Pirlo is Pirlo
Pirlo=Pirlo => 1979 Pirlo=1979 Pirlo, ..., 2006 Pilro=2006 Pirlo, 2007 Pirlo=2007 Pilro but that doesn't mean that 2006 Pirlo=2007 Pilro! You get it??
I'm quite certain Pirlo will not be missed against Atalanta. Not more than he's been missed all season long!
Pirlo was super cool in the first half against Inter. Easily the best player on the pitch. He was almost back to Azzuri best.
I think we'll probably see the sh!tty 4-4-1-1 thing again or the 4-3-1-2 with either a midfield combo of:
Rino--Seedorf--Ambro
or
Rino--Seedorf--Yoann
Milan - Atalanta -- goal.com preview
When: Sunday March 18, 15:00 (CET)
Where: Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Milan,Italy
BACKGROUND
Milan have always been one of the heavyweights of Italian football, and have been earning that tag ever since a great run of form which began in November. The attack began to finally gel, and the defense was shored up.
However, losing 2-1 in the Derby della Madonnina to city rivals Internazionale last weekend was a big hit to their Champions League aspirations. The Rossoneri are six points back of fourth place, and must return to winning ways to keep the pressure on Palermo and Lazio.
Atalanta may not be a traditional power, but they have been hitting above their weight class for most of the season. This was clearly evidenced in the 2-0 home win against Milan in early November.
However, they have seen a dip in form recently, without a victory since January. Even without the full allotment of points during this stretch, they have only lost twice.
CURRENT FORM
Milan (D W L, 6th place in Serie A)
Milan will be determined to right the ship, following the loss to Inter last Sunday. They will need to display more defensive focus, though, as Inter was able to find plenty of space around the six yard box on several occasions. Still, they are just a pair of wins from third place, and can feel good about their chances of reaching that position before seasons end.
Atalanta (L L D, 9th place in Serie A)
Atalanta are amazingly in the top half of the table, and this with their poor results as of late. While they have not been letting in many goals, they have also struggled to score, after starting the year with eight in their first two matches of 2007.
TEAM NEWS
Milan must do without defenders Alessandro Nesta, Kakha Kaladze, Serginho and Paolo Maldini, while Marco Borriello and Andrea Pirlo are suspended.
Atalanta do not have any definite injury absences.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Ricardo Oliveira (Milan) – With the release of his sister after having been kidnapped, he finally will not have this serious family concern weighing on his mind. He can now focus solely on football, and should start showing the Milan supporters why so much money was spent to acquire his services last summer.
Cristiano Doni (Atalanta) – Once a transfer target for Milan several years ago, he has been reborn this season, with ten goals to his name. Most people thought he was done for sure, but he has proven his critics wrong this term.
POSSIBLE STARTING XI’s
Milan (4-3-1-2): Dida; Oddo, Bonera, Simic, Jankulovski; Gattuso, Brocchi, Seedorf; Kakà ; Oliveira, Ronaldo
Atalanta (4-4-2): Calderoni; Rivalta, Talamonti, Loria, Bellini; Ariatti, Bernardini, Donati, Tissone; Doni, Defendi
PREDICTION
With the season coming down to the final stretch (there are eleven matches remaining), both of these clubs will need to put their respective best feet forward. Milan will be missing some key members of the squad, but still have enough muscle to throw the knockout punch.
Milan 2-0 Atalanta

I would like to see the Brazilian trio again, with Ambro taking Pirlo's place.
Gazzetta's probable line-up:
------------------------Dida-------------------------
Oddo--------Bonera---------Simic-----Jankulovski
Gattuso---------------Brocchi------------Ambrosini
--------------------Kakà --------------------------
-----------Ronaldo------------Oliveira
Ambrosini has... some play-making abilities but if this is the line-up in the end (Gazzetta usually screw it in that aspect) I would be really disappointed; when is Gourcuff going to start a game if not now that Pirlo is suspended. I am utterly frustrated!
Seedorf will be in Pirlo's position and Carlo will play two DMs .. Ambro and Gattuso.
As for the attack, he has to play two strikers for this one, I'd like to see R9 and Oli
another gift from palermo. we simply must accept
their generosity and use it to our advantage.
at the end of the season I've no doubt we'll be
organising another CL assault.
Milan 3 - 0 atalanta and will score the three goals
>>>>>>>>> FORZA MILAN <<<<<<<<<
Milan 3 - 0 atalanta and Ronaldo will score the three goals
>>>>>>>>> FORZA MILAN <<<<<<<<<
1-0 or 2-1 for Milan...
well looks like gazzetta were spot on cause acmilan.com has the same probable http://www.acmilan.com/LM_Match_Stats.aspx?idIncontro=1859
I feel sorry for Yoann that he has a coach that doesn't believe in his abilities.
Gattuso---------------Brocchi------------Ambrosini
That's overkill
yeah i know, it's a killer... i can see this is gonna be one sh!t game!
This is the last probable line up I saw on Milan Channel
Oddo--Bonera--Simic--Janku
---Rino--Brocchi--Seedorf---
-----------Kaka----------------
------Ronaldo--Oliveira-------
At least it's better then the one with Ambro, and providing as much cover to that defence as you can is a good idea I suppose
bah. Ancelotti better overthink that one again.
*sighs*
anyway, if we loose, I won't have to be tortured with that lineup because I'm not watching it lol
nope it's official:
Milan (4-3-1-2):
Dida;
Oddo, Bonera, Simic, Jankulovski;
Gattuso, Ambrosini, Brocchi; Kakà ;
Ricardo Oliveira, Ronaldo.
Atalanta (4-3-2-1):
Calderoni;
Rivalta, Talamonti, Loria, Bellini;
Bernardini, Donati, Migliaccio;
Ferreira Pinto, Defendi;
Doni.
Geez. Italian typical 4-3-1-2.
Let's go Milan!
Just about to begin.
FORZA MILAN!!!!
FORZA MILAN
OLI !!!!!!!!!!!!!! damn offside
Goal Oli, disallowed.
Oli was not offside
Well so far so good.
Should be one up already though
AMBRO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ambro
Should have scored!!!
They are very hard on our players, kicking and tackling hard
You could clearly see how much we miss Pirlo (even when he is off form)
Very flat game so far.
Atalanta building a wall infront of their box
Great effort Oli
Why are our strikers nearly on the half way line??
The midfield is totally flat, we need Seedorf or Yoann in there
Ohhh my !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whowas that talking about Oddo not being good ?!
Janku !!!!
I think Milan r playing with three DMs, cuz our defence isnt the best ATM ... No Nesta or Maldini, it was a good choice from Carlo.
But we r missing Pirlo, that is certain !
Only one goal scored across Italy so far.
Now Oli with a big miss!!
Damn it, so many misses
Oliviera !!!!!!!! almost !
Should have had a penalty there
OLIIIIIIIII!!!
We should have been something like 3 goals up now with all the misses and I'm not counting that wrongfully disallowed goal
R9 is improving !!! I admire how he is after every ball in his reach !
WE NEED PIRLO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Atalanta defending in their own box now.
Milan-Atalanta 31' How on earth is this game still goalless? Oliveira squanders wtwo more gilt-edged chances, the second from a brilliant Kaka through-ball. Goals have been a problem for Milan all season, and this game just goes to illustrate their lack of decisiveness in front of goal.
OHHHHHHHHHH RONALDO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a save
GREAT RONALDO
AMBROSINI GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL !!!!!!!!!!!!!
GGOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL
AMBRO
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally deadlock is broken.
I think we'll see a free flowing second half now
Ambro
UNBELIEVABLE
1-0.
Some Ronaldo magic gets us the corner, Kaka whips it in and Ambro does his speciality
What a play !!!
R9 and K22 great combo
KAKA
Great save
R99
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT A PASS FROM RONI TO KAKA'
40' GOAL! Finally! Massimo Ambrosini glances into the net from a Kaka corner! Great run, fine header, Milan in front! 1-0.
Ambro again alomst
Yes!!
What a play now!!
On acmilan.com it reads Pirlo took the corner... They sure miss him a lot!!
OMG! This is the first game this season im not watching!!! More feedback please !
Ambrosini is in the form of his life
He has been a predator infront of goal aswell
How many times Oliviera !!! how many till u score
Should have already killed off the game though
OLI!!!! GREAT PLAY
WE ARE ON FIRE !!!!
HT: 1-0
Oliveira had a bid miss but he isn't getting knocked off the ball easily and is looking really great.
Kaka also, great game.
Ronaldo simply mejestic. Took some time to get into the game but he is flying high now
There are already six yellows in the Ascoli Inter game
And only 5 goals have been scored in all the games
Controversy! Fiorentina captain Dainelli is shown a second yellow card for what looked an inocuous challenge on Francesco Totti. Referee Gianluca Paparesta will surely cop some stick for that one.

whats up everybody..watching this game really confirms something i have thought all along..if carlo would just give oli a chance and let him gain some confidence, he can really do some great things for the club and form something really special with R99..remember earlier in the year when he got played for maybe 5 or 6 matches consitently? granted he wasnt scoring, but he has always moved well..and he hit so many posts, and then finally just slowly got benched..if oli can just find his betis scoring touch here..hes certainly looked confident in this game..and something about him is really likeable..it would be a lot of fun to see him enjoying himself and scoring for milan
i think part of the big reason he got knocked off the ball so easily was because since his playing time kept dipping..he was trying to be too precise and perfect..when hes relaxed on the pitch he does a lot better..u can see it too..today hes smiling and high fiving, whereas in the past hes looked real upset in some games..he looks rampant today tho..hopefully carlo will give him a chance to shine now that his family situation is solved
thanks for sopcast canal+ link guys
FORZA MILAN!!!!!!!!

We need someone like Pirlo or Seedorf, to keep the ball and control the midfield more
Is this a Rugby match by any chance?
HAHAHA!!! KAKA!!
inter scored
66' This is a one-man show at times, with Kaka utterly outshining the other 21 men on the park. He loses his footing in the box, but from his position on the ground manages to flick the ball up and get an overhead volley on target!
Yes finally Seedorf about to come on
Seedorf coming on ..
Kaka bad miss
Oli off -> Seedorf on
Ibra for Inter. Porto doing his happy dance

Again Atalanta almost scored.
We've really been let off in this half.

Serie A Report: Milan Make It Past Atalanta
AC Milan went into the match with the most clean sheets of any Serie A team this season, 14, and came out the other end with fifteen. In the last sixteen games, Ancelotti’s men had only lost one game, the ‘Madonnina’ derby against Inter, and today wouldn’t be the second.
The scene was set for a showdown as the first clash between the two this season had ended with Atalanta defeating Milan 2-0 in November 2006, and now both sides are even on points, La Dea able to take heart from a 2-1 aggregate superiority.
There was a taboo facing ‘La Dea’, nevertheless, the last Atalanta at San Siro dating way back to March 1991 and a slim 0-1 victory and ‘La Dea’ arrived with a poor attacking retrospective of only five goals being netted in the last seven games.
The match started with an offside, Milan springing the Atalanta trap as Christian Brocchi’s through ball connected with Oliveira, but the linesman’s flag shot out. Mario Defendi lmost completed a fast break but his went was skewed off target.
Milan hit back through eventual scorer Massimo Ambrosini, Massimo Oddo slapping in a cross and the midfielder’s right footed shot went just a bit too high. Ancelotti’s men were cautious about their rearguard initially, but came out of their shells as the visitors’ attacks showed more gum than tooth.
Massimo Donati proved to be the visitors’ most incisive player as Atalanta strove to grab a goal, but he was hardly razor sharp as a 35-metre shot went screaming wide right and his through ball found Defendi caught offside.
Ronaldo and Ricardo Oliveira upped the bombardment with five chances in four minutes, the Fenômeno and his ex-Betis compatriot forcing Calderoni into two saves that kept the La Dea sheet clean – temporarily.
The Rossoneri pressure yielded a result as Milan took the lead before the break, Massimo Ambrosini (40 min) heading home from the left side of the six yard box after Kakà snapped a cross into the box, Calderoni finally beaten by the well-placed nod.
Massimo Ambrosini nodded a Gennaro Gattuso cross wide left and the first half ended with a Ricardo Oliveira shot after Kakà set the number 7 up in the centre of the box, but the man whose sister was released from a long-term kidnap recently blazed the ball over Calderoni’s bar.
The second half continued with La Dea still offering spirited resistance and, if anything, threatening Milan with a series of opportunities, although a pronounced lack of accuracy meant that Dida just observed the La Dea shots go wide or high of the mark.
Both Coaches tinkered with their sides as Ancelotti replaced his front line – Ronaldo foiled again and going off with just two shots on target and one stray missile and Oliveira only one miss better than the number 99.
The result, however, remained 1-0. A slim win, but the three points are as nutritious as any others, Milan going forth with renewed vigour and celebrating their fifteenth clean sheet so far this season.
