Oh, how I wish Cassano signed on for Sampdoria instead of Inter. rolleyes.gif Should have been fun!

Posted by: Jack Bauer Aug 23 2012, 09:36 PM

Abate won't play (injury) while Ambro is also doubtful, trained apart today.

Posted by: d'Arc.LP Aug 23 2012, 09:42 PM

Considering the injuries I'd start with this:

Abbati
De Sciglio - Zapata - Acerbi - Antonini
Flamini - Montolivo - Nocerino
Boateng
Robinho - Pazzini

Posted by: han2503 Aug 23 2012, 09:45 PM

A new season, but it appears as if we're going to carry the injury plague of last season into this one...

Replace Acerbi with Bonera and that's gazzetta's line-up as well.

Usually these teams that come from the 2nd tier explode on us in their debut season, hence I think that defense will make us cry on the day, if anything dry.gif

Posted by: servbot Aug 23 2012, 11:22 PM

This is laughable. With this lineup I don't even think we should be favorites to win at home against Samp. 2-2 maybe? 2-3? I would be more confident in Montreal Impact's defensive line with a bunch of MLS scrubs I've never heard of and semi-retired Nesta in it...

Is Emanuelson injured? How sad of a state of affairs is it that Emanuelson not being able to play is a concern?

Posted by: Danny Aug 23 2012, 11:31 PM

I can't believe that b*stard Kurt opened this thread. What a ruddy f*cker.

I jest, nice thread. How do you make those banner thingies?

Agreed; we must win. Milan is bad, sure, but not "that" bad.

Posted by: Zed.D Aug 24 2012, 08:46 AM

To be honest, De Sciglio is the only player in that lineup that excites me and makes me want to watch it. hopefully he picks up where he left off last season against Inter.

Having such a poor squad is good in a way after all. the kids get to play a lot, and you get to know the good ones from the bad ones NOT based on a few cameo performances.

Also Pazzini vs his former teammates should be interesting, hopefully that works in his favor and he gets a goal or two.

Yep, I think that too.

Today at Milanello: Philippe Mexes was back with the full squad while Massimo Ambrosini worked out in the gym.

Posted by: m1ke Aug 24 2012, 01:38 PM

Maxi Lopez is a doubt for the game apparently. I thought he got a bit of a raw deal at Milan, so I'd prefer it if he didn't have a chance to prove us wrong wink.gif

I predict a 1 - 0 win to Milan. Robinho as the scorer.

Posted by: Fillipo Simone Aug 24 2012, 02:06 PM

I'd say we'll score more then concede, but I'm pretty much sure Doria will score.

Posted by: Jack Sparrow Aug 24 2012, 02:08 PM

We dominate but lose 3-1. The 3rd Sampdoria goal coming in the 87th minute.

We also lose KPB to injury. Nocerino to score our only goal.

Yeah, but it's Flamini for me. This should be his final chance.

Kurt, what you did there with the match banner is great! I've always wanted to have something like that at the beginning of each match thread throughout the season but could never find consistent logos of team we faced (Sizes and quality and colors differed). So awesome job for that. And if like Mr. Zed.d said, if you could keep it going, then that would just make this place (Milanfan) that much classier. Cheers. beersmiley1.gif

Posted by: Fillipo Simone Aug 26 2012, 12:44 PM

According to MN, this is how Milan should look:

QUOTE
Milan (4-3-1-2): Abbiati; De Sciglio, Zapata, Bonera, Antonini; Montolivo, Flamini, Nocerino; Boateng; Pazzini, Robinho.

I'd go to sleep. Wake up, check result and if game was worth seeing, if yes: watch a replay or download it wink.gif

I'd personally prefer Constant to start instead of Flamini. No use making it more painful than it already will be

It's quite clear that AC Milan doesn't want to keep Mexes though consedring his wages and being on the left out list.

Not really impressed with Stephan pre-season, his finishing was poor if anything, and the attacking players that were one of the best are Robinho, Nocerino and Emanuelson. Boateng wasn't good. Pazzini wasn't there, so can't be compared.

Not a great half. It's almost like everyone is looking around for Ibra when they get the ball!

Posted by: TriniKing_CE Aug 26 2012, 05:55 PM

Bonera is truly a mediocre player at best.

Boateng is looking horrible. I am beginning to wonder if he looked as good as he did for us due to opponents allowing him more space while worry about our other players. (Zlatan anyone?...)

It could just be my frustration talking, but the more I think about it, the less far-fetched it seems to me. huh.gif

Couple questions:

Why the hell is Pato up in the stands away from the rest of the team? blink.gif

...and two regarding signs that I saw in the crowd (not sure if anyone else spotted them):

One was something to do with Cassano, and the other was to do with August 31st.

Ha, the best part when we play like this and lose matches is reading the match threads. biggrin.gif tongue.gif In fact, I wouldn't say best, it's the only part - sarcastic and interesting comments make for a fun reading. Other than that, I agree with all of the posts above. Particularly Han's "not even fighting spirit to cover for the severe lack of quality" one.

The only consolation through all this mess is that if we end up outside the top 3 or top 5, it'll be well deserved. Well deserved and well earned - by all the duds that are wearing our shirts, and a few in the management that aren't.

I don't believe that for a second. Just look at how the team's playing, and his decision making during the game. Allegri simply cannot cut it without Ibra winning him these games.

Yes his squad is awful, but it's certainly not bad as this.

Deserved win for Sampdoria, although we were slightly unlucky not to get the equalizer in the dying minutes.

We played horrible! Not even Kaka would have helped us today!!

Posted by: Bluesummers Aug 26 2012, 06:58 PM

This is a team that doesn't even want to play. Incredible.

Either we fire allegri and get someone with passion who can change the tone in the dressing room because the body language clearly states that the players are not motivated by or happy with the club's ambitions right now OR we go out and buy some replacements.

You cannot get rid of your team leaders, guys like ibra, silva, nesta and then not replace them. This is what willl happen.

fire allegri or sign players. thats it.

Allegri or no Allegri, even if we'll be coached by Moses, Muhammad, Jesus and Buddha all together, we still wouldn't compete for something thsi season. Though, it'll be entertaining to see how all of them will coexist.

Fire Allegri? laugh.gif

That's almost laughable, which other coach out there is capable of great (I'd even settle for good) things with this squad? Further to that, what good coach in their right mind out there would take over this pathetic squad of players?

Sign players is the only option and it's a bit too late for that in my book!

Here's to 2013 - 2014!!

Posted by: Bluesummers Aug 26 2012, 07:04 PM

Its not better that we need, if we fire allegri we have to go for someone with potential and passion. Only way it'll work. Someone whose wanting to make his way up and make a name for himself. Ciro Fererra and Allegri showed today the difference between someone with passion and someone whose frustrated.

You cannot go from eating gourmet asian cuisine to instant noodles over night and be happy with it. There will always be a period of heavy discontent. Its either Allegri rises from it, sucks it up and does his job or he goes. OR we sign him players to make him motivated and happy. Only way.

On a sidenote, I really like Prince, but it's a disgrace to see our #10 on him. our wonderful management even got that one wrong.

Posted by: amancik Aug 26 2012, 07:22 PM

If it's any consolation for us that maybe Allegri is trying something out as the first game of the season. I mean it's quite clear that quality-wise Zapata and Mexes should be our first-team centre-backs. I'm not sure what was the original formation but I saw 4-3-3 during the game when Emanuelson came in as left-forward and Boateng as right-forward.

Panic buys? It's too little to late. At this point not even Diarra, Kaka and Tevez would save the season. The team has lost its backbone and structure. You can't rush something like that. It is built by careful planning, good management and backing by the owner. None of which we have.

Milan Channel's president thinks we'll buy 4 players this week.

If they are all quality, and they are: LB, CB, DM, ST/CAM then we could do ok this year. Maybe we'll also sign a new coach who doesn't make the worst substitutions and starting lineups ever.

Miserable.

These last weeks one really has to use a microscope to find positive specks or rays of hope at Milan. Nothing is working, everything seems to be against Milan: from management to coaching staff, from medical staff to the players roster.

Our defensive line is just terrible. Giving away easy passes, constantly on the verge of losing possessions, painfully slow. I don't know how someone can say Bonera is better the Yepes. Bonera is better then Acrebi and that's about it; he made two big mistakes and failed to cover Costa when he scored.

Our midfield was embarrassingly inflexible. Two false DM's (Flamini and Nocerino) with no real vision and a mediocre Montolivo who's only shot on goal turned into a "out" for Sampdoria. Only the dying minutes gave him more chances which he used for some fair crosses.

Our attack? What was Allegri thinking? No Prima punta but Boateng playing a "false don't-know-what" and Robinho-Shaarawy doing the work for - no one. I guess we expected Ibra to score...wait...we sold him!

Then Allegri decides to take off a striker for a extra midfielder who played a little bit on the left, a bit on the right, and a bit as an SS.

All in all a mess. Certainly, the management should take most of the blame, because they simply brought in bad players and made a few unreasonable deals. But this is a Serie B side who had to play a extra match against Varese to win this promotion! Surely we could have won even with the poor selection.

Milan is rapidly turning into a mid table team: a bit of everything, but no class. We have experienced players like Bonera, Yepes and even Abbiati who are good but can always cost you a goal or two, then we have a good crosser and technical player, a winger, Emanuleson who can't play a fullback/winger at Milan so the coach decides to move him around the field, knowing that he may very well be our only chance for a good cross or pass. We have an AM who shoots and just shoots the ball around, making forceful fouls and...playing out of position. Again we have a SS who does the work okay but lacks finishing skills, yet he's been pushed to play with out prima punta.

That's really a mess.

Posted by: han2503 Aug 27 2012, 04:57 PM

Well said Filippo. I personally can't even find it in me to feel angry or p!ssed off, just depressed.

How the management could manage to ruin what was imo, the best squad in the league by turning it into a mid-table side in a matter of months is beyond me comprehension.

At one point I also saw that Traore dude warming up. I was about to bust a gasket. Is this really what we've been reduced to? Even if Galliani manages to get Kaka in, it simply won't even make a dent in this pile of sh!t they threw on the squad.

Allegri is another matter altogether. He clearly has no clue as to how to go about it. Which also makes it painfully clear how much he relied on his big players to bail him out

Posted by: Zed.D Aug 28 2012, 10:29 AM

Now that signing Kaka is out of the question, I hope we get Julio Cesar at least. that defense needs extra protection (actually GKs are not supposed to "protect" the defense but we're so bad, they do).
