oddly enough i am not to confident about this one, nedved's brace last week was stunning and amauri is in his good form. Senderos should see the star as he can win some aerial balls from iaquinta/amauri. Also i will be the first to comment Senderos' Improvement throughout the second part of the season. i see a 2-2 draw

Poissonpoupee bonjour mtl! Long time no see!

FYI, Nedved and Mellberg are suspended for this one. Chiellini hasn't played the past few weeks with injury but should be back.

Posted by: Zed.D May 5 2009, 02:20 PM

It's true that we've been going through a good form and Juve have had only problems recently, but I don't expect an easy game at all... I predict a win but a hard fought one.

Today's training has taken place.

The first half hour was technical warmups: running with the ball and exercies in pairs and groups of four. Then there were ball possession drills. Finally there was a practice game.

Luca Antonini has rejoined the group. Pippo trained in the gym and Kaka did running on the central pitch.

EDIT: The Gobbi had training too, though it was an hour later than scheduled because of a longer-than-expected meeting between players, coach, Secco and Blanc (meeting was supposed to be brief but went for well over an hour).

They did warmups, drills and a practice game.
Of their injured, Chiellini and Molinaro trained with the team; Tiago did everything up to the practice game; Legrottaglie didn't train (foot), Grygera didn't train (ankle), Sissoko started running a bit, and Marchisio, Brazzo and Knezevic all did some jogging and then trained in the gym. (gosh. they've got more hurt players than us).

Posted by: han2503 May 5 2009, 06:03 PM

Them missing Sissoko is probably our biggest advantage, he really kept Pirlo and Dinho shakled last time, to bad we're missing Rino too, but I'm glad to see Ambro finally stepping up again.

Posted by: Tennie May 5 2009, 06:09 PM

There's a story on milannews that Ranieri may bench both camoranesi and del piero for the game as punishment for the Big Halftime Fight last Sunday.

Think that one's more wishful thinking than anything. With Nedved suspended, Trezeguet totally out of favor and the defense in shaky form, I don't see both of those guys being benched. They've got to play with more symbols than just poor Gigi.

We really did miss Kaka last time.

I'm hoping for a Pato, Pippo, Kaka attack

Pato and Kaka's pace and intelligence, Pippo's killer instinct...

Hopefully we'll pepper their goal with as many shots as we can so Pippo can have more opportunities to pounce. And Becks needs to really put on his crossing boots, he left them behind last Sunday

Though I think you're making too big a deal out of Gazzetta's lineup. Jumping the gun ain't ya??

Posted by: Tennie May 6 2009, 12:12 PM

Where'd you see that, Jack? Nothing about it yet on acmilan.com.

Morning training was specific training (various groups doing different sorts of drills). Nesta did some sustained running, a first.

Posted by: Jack Sparrow May 6 2009, 12:38 PM

I could be wrong. It was from Tuttosport supposedly. Somebody told me this on communicator.

EDIT: It's up on goal.com as well which quotes Tuttosport: http://www.goal.com/en/news/10/italy/2009/05/06/1249197/report-milan-keeper-dida-in-doubt-for-juventus-visit

Meh. It's Tuttosport, which is Juve's equivalent to Marca. Let's wait and see what happens in afternoon training.

Gazzetta usually get it right, and I'm almast certain that Carlo will start Seedorf ahead of Pato. Now what Seedorf does in front of his webcam is between him and the webcam, now that would be frightning ohmy.gif

The only place in Italy where the Dida injury has been posted is Tuttosport, which is a Juve paper. Let's wait and see before wailing and gnashing our teeth.

As for the Gobbi, they're doing a double training session day too. Molinaro didn't train (back injury), Marchisio's training separately, Grygera and Legrottaglie are also training separately. Fishdoll's guess at this point is that Molinaro's for sure out, Marchisio's probably out, and that Grygera and Legrottaglie are questionable.

I still can't find anything about it on Google News other than Tuttosport, Goal.com and Ch. 4, both of which got their story from the former.

It's on Mediaset too and them, I believe. (Tuttosport is good for Toro and Gobbi news, but not so much else).

MILAN, DIDA IN FORSE

I thought he was quite good at RB.

Posted by: Tennie May 7 2009, 04:55 PM

Steve Nash (who is a basketball player, I think?) was at training today.

He watched the team do warmups, ball possession drills, and crosses.

Gattuso and Antonini trained with the team. 96.gif

Kaka trained separately (slight thigh strain)
Dida trained separately (back)

Posted by: dst May 7 2009, 05:01 PM

Steve Nash is playing for the Suns... it's normal that he's on vacation... and he is a Tottenham fan.

Posted by: Tennie May 7 2009, 05:22 PM

For the Gobbi, Marchisio and Grygera returned to full training. Legrottaglie trained in the gym. Sissoko and Brazzo did their first training with the ball.

The gobbi practice game fielded DelPiero-Trezeguet with a midfield including Marchionni, Zanetti, and Tiago.

yeah laugh.gif

I am worried a bit. this is the time Carlo showed courage and played with an attacking formation (2 strikers). imagine 1 more striker replaced with a lazy bum (no offense but last game he was sluggish as hell). that'd be asking for a draw.

Posted by: han2503 May 8 2009, 03:08 PM

Hey!!

Don't diss Seedorf, he's far better then Pato will ever be, that why he's in the line-up!

Posted by: Tennie May 8 2009, 04:21 PM

Today's training has taken place. Warmups, drills, and practice games.

Both Dida and Kaka trained with the team for Milan (this part was in bold on the training report on acmilan.com) and are considered to be fully recuperated.

The Gobbi have got back (in various levels of fitness) Marchisio, Chiellini, Tiago, Legrottaglie, and Grygera (though today's Marchisio's first full training with the team this week). Molinaro's definitely out -- kidney stones.

Posted by: Tennie May 8 2009, 05:39 PM

It isn't kidney stones for Molinaro after all. Here's an update from the gobbi website:

QUOTE
The tests which ended today, allowed the identification of the cause of the problem. It is in fact a haematoma in the left abdominal regional the formation of which was spontaneous or traumatic as a consequence of a inborn vascular malfunction of benign characteristics.

The player was admitted at the Fornaca Clinic in Turin for precaution purposes and to undergo monitoring of the healing of the haematoma. His stay at the clinic will last a few days but he will be missing the rest of the season.

In about a month’s time further tests will be possible in order to establish whether he can return to normal activity or rest for a period of between 2 or 4 months more in case surgery is needed to solve the problem.

Hope he recovers. Don't like to see any players injured or in ill health like this.

QUOTE (Goal.com)
Speciale Goal.

Derby d’Italia o meno: conta poco.

E contro il brasiliano, state certi, serviranno.

Kakà-Poulsen. Vi ricorda qualcosa? A noi francamente sì.

If Becks is having problems then it's an easy issue to deal with, Seedorf plays in the midfield 3.

Other then that, I cannot believe that he's actually considering not playing either Pato or Pippo because of him puke.gif

Steve Nash (who is a basketball player, I think?) was at training today.

He watched the team do warmups, ball possession drills, and crosses.

Gattuso and Antonini trained with the team. 96.gif

Kaka trained separately (slight thigh strain)
Dida trained separately (back)

Steve Nash is a Del Piero fan too btw..

i would think that winning the most valuable player of the nba qualifies him as a champion.

^^^cool pics. nice to see basketball pros appreciate the beautiful game.

nash is actually a good soccer player. he showed some skills in the dunk contest a few years ago.

damn its nice to see rino being called up again. we really could send a stern message to the rest of europe if we win out the rest of the season.

It's not about dislike Tennie, I think he's really improved these past couple of weeks in terms of subs and line-ups, but this Seedorf thing is just getting way too irritiating.

He's playing terribly week in week out, yet he still gets picked over Pato/Dinho for a position that is not even his, because he's not an attacking mid!!

I don't think Ronaldinho would be very effective, sorry. Remember what happened last time we played the Gobbi.

And I actually have faith in the coach's selections. If he picked Seedorf, it was for a good reason - like the one you yourself cited, han: Seedorf tends to score against Juve.

But I'm not going to argue further, not on this one because I think it's silly. If some people want to go on an anti-Carlo-he's-ruining-Pato and anti-Seedorf witch hunt, have at it.

It was a meh sort of first half

We need to step it up big time, these aren't Chievo and Catania, no matter in what for they are.

Sorry have to reply to this even though I know how you feel about it and just have to say that it's not an anti Carlo thing, at least not on my part, I'm more anti Seedorf atm, I already stated why I think that Carlo fields him and I don't see it as 100% favouritism but rather Carlo not wanting confrontations...

And sure he tends to score against Juve but the keyword here is tends, it's not like it's garaunteed that he will score. He hasn't actually scored against them since 05/06 (IIRC unsure.gif ). And I'm sorry but his "tendency" to score against them is not a good enough reason to play him, especially if he's in the form he's in. And I don't remember him having a tendency to score against Catania, Torino, Chievo etc, yet he still started against them.

And I think even the primavera goalie would be more effective then Seedorf at this point. He's just way too static, slow and complacent, especially these past few weeks, were it's gotten to a point where it's awful to watch him labouring around the pitch and making mistakes.

And personally I think Dinho would be more effective because of his passing and ability in tight spaces, something neither Pato or Kaka are good at.

Yes, but he did nothing helping in defense and for large chunks of the game, he had his @ss handed to him by a 22 year old who wasn't even expected to play in the game (Marchisio).

I somehow agree about Dinho and as you can see I rarely complain when he's on bench. you may call it favoritism, but if Pato's performances over the season indicate anything it's that he should play.

It was a meh sort of first half

We need to step it up big time, these aren't Chievo and Catania, no matter in what for they are.

Seedorf just needs to come off, end of. I don't care who comes on to replace him at this point but he needs to be taken off ASAP

Totally agree, the amount of times he gave the ball away in the first half I thought he was playing for Juve! I don't rate R80 much better but I would sooner have him over Seedorf.

We need to give Pippo some help upfront if we're to win this, and another forward will create space for Ricky to weave some magic. Hopefully carlo's clever enough to realise this wink.gif

I don't understand this 'he did not help in defence' theory.

Especially when I see Seedorf walking around on the other end of the pitch when we don't have the ball

Perhaps its not the club but the direction that management are taking us! Because of poor planning in the past we are in the state we are now. I can relate to the frustration that Zed.d feels.

QUOTE

I assume these are from Datasport. Not much to complain about, but if that had been Dida's performance today he'd be getting a 5. Also, Flamini's rating seems quite rough.

Too bad that two classic matchups (Gigi-Dida, Maldini-Del Piero) that probably would've made the match more exciting were spoiled today. Thank you, fate.

I want my club to be the best, naturally, and I see we're far from that. anything else? smile.gif oh, out of players that featured tonight, I'd keep only Pirlo, Ambrosini, Kaka, Pato and Flamini (Gattuso, Abbiati and a few others as well - like a healthy Nesta) ONLY MY OPINION but I think the rest have contributed what they could and the club would be better off without them (EXCEPT MALDINI WHO IS GOING TO RETIRE).

Normally i would be content with a 1-1 draw with Juve but several factors are leaving me unhappy.

Firstly Juve are utter crap at the moment, we should have finished them off

Secondly we have Udine, Roma and Fio to play, which are all very tricky ties (minus the Roma one, because in all probability they will self destruct)

Also i didnt see the game but did the brilliant defender by the name of Favalli get himself sent off? We make it a habit of getting players sent off against Juve, Gattuso before they were relegated, Bonera last year and Favalli this year

We can (and probably will) loose first place unless we dispatch the aforementioned teams

Posted by: Tennie May 11 2009, 12:04 AM

The Favalli redcard was very harsh, whoarethepatriots. Yes, there was a foul but De Ceglie did exactly the same thing to Beckham early in the game and only got a scolding.

That said, the team wasn't anywhere near its recent form. The gobbi weren't all that great either, truth be told. A draw is probably a fair result.

I hope your not holding your breath on that one Nova. With Galliani only wanting to buy old "experenced" players, aswell as our lack of funds and inability to compete with the english sides financially like our board keeps saying, we have no chance to ship out old and ineffective players and sign adaquit replacements, not to mention if carlo does keep on as our coach if his attitude doesnt change were doomed to another season with no silverwear.

Good lord, there's a lot of doom and gloom today. You'd think the gobbi beat us 6-0. (and yes, I'm old enough to remember when they did).

Remember where we were last season, guys - an awful lot worse than this year.

by the way, the bit about Galliani and old players is based on a poorly translated article by a biased writer. Why are people so quick to only believe the negative things regarding the man and when he says somethign positive, they call him a liar?

Not too disappointed by the result. It's ok. There are worse things than a 1-1 draw with a Gobbi. They've always been better than their current results, and I think for all their problems with Ranieri, there's no way the Juve players would have had the same mentality against Milan.

Wish the referee could have been better though. Still displeased with the Favalli red. Oh well....We're still in the race for 2nd. So things aren't all bad.

this has got to be one of the worst posts i've seen on here in a long time.

teams rise and fall all the time...doesn't mean it's the end for them. we're 2nd place right now in serie a. 4 years ago man u was NOT winning anything either.

seriously...take the doom and gloom somewhere else.

Teams rise only if they do something to make it happen. on the contrary, they fall only if they ignore the needs to be competitive at the highest level...

1 Scudetto in 10 years. we sure do rise and fall all the time

It's sad to see this loser mentality's gotten most Milan fans. what are we, the new Inter?

I don't; but I remember once I said that I'd seen Maldini lose his cool sometimes. and I nearly got killed for saying that!

Poor Chiellini nearly wet himself biggrin.gif

zeddie, you're conveniently forgetting the 3 CL finals in those same ten years. Can you name another team that's got that kind of record?

I agree with Warchant. The negativity and defeatism is getting to be too much. Rebuilding a team cannot be done in one season and if you can't see an improvement over last year then I suggest you check the records. A team cannot play champagne football EVERY SINGLE GAME for every single season. It just doesn't happen and expecting it to happen is unrealistic.

If you want to only see bad (except Pato, who seems incapable of any wrong) then so be it.

He does not lose His temper... I mean... He's God, He cannot lose anything...

I've seen Him get angry with opposition players before but it always was for something grave. I'm sure it was something that really annoyed him last night too.

How about 1 Scudetto in 10 years?

No. Nothing new. Just the old one-forward-at-home-even-if-Juventus-are-sh**-at-the-back-and-won't-take-Kaka-out-no-matter-if-he's-playing-like-a-Serie-C-player tactics!

I truly hope he gets away from Milan! It must end, it's not working for either side. [edit: Carletto that is]

I give up. zeddie, if Milan is as horrible as you seem to think it is, why are you even bothering to pretend to follow it? You don't like management, you don't like the coach, you only seem to think a small handful of players are worthwhile. Seems all you want to do is complain and criticize. I'm sorry if you really can only see the negative and have unrealistic expectations of the team. I'm done trying to reason with this sort of attitude. If you feel the need to continue to spew venom on this forum, do so; nobody's stopping you unless you break board rules.

That wasn't nice. I better end it here before the accusations get any more offensive, especially since I'm not the only Milan fan on earth who's feeling this way about some people involved in the club. if you look any further than the pretending, fanboying, venom spreading zeddie [a few of insults you've been throwing at me for some time now], you will see the others as well. only if...

Never a dull day. Parry-thrust... on and on and on...

Who's a fan? Who's not?

It's a subjective argument. And a very pointless, energy-sapping exercise to make each person see the others point of view.

Let's just drop it.

Ignore comments from the 'opposite' camp , if they make no sense to you at all, and can't further any healthy debate.

Case closed.

Your constant venom isn't very nice either. smile.gif In fact it makes it downright unpleasant to come here and read this board. I have no problem with criticisms levelled at the club/players/management when warranted, but I also like to see a little balanced perspective and in the vast majority of your comments, I see none.

OK, will you now please show me those full-of-venom posts which make it downright unpleasant for you to come and read this forum? the links to those posts have to be from this thread, since you re-started saying all these things since last night. I'm waiting...
