AC Milan - Milanfan.com _ Archive 08/09 _ Milan hopeful of Adebayor deal

Posted by: Warchant May 19 2009, 04:08 AM

QUOTE
AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi claims there is a "good chance" his club can sign Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor in the summer.

Adebayor was wanted by the Italian giants 12 months ago, but a deal failed to materialise and the Togo ace signed a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.

However rumours of a move away from Arsenal have resurfaced in recent weeks, with Chelsea having been linked with an end-of-season bid.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger admitted last week he would have no problem selling to a Premier League rival, but insisted Adebayor is part of his plans.

The former Monaco forward also revealed earlier this month that he will be staying with the club "100 per cent" next season, but Milan appear set to make a renewed attempt to sign the 25-year-old.

Berlusconi has confirmed the Rossoneri's interest in agreeing a deal and is positive about the prospects of persuading Adebayor to move to the San Siro.

"There is a good chance that we can get Adebayor," Berlusconi told the Italian media on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, Berlusconi revealed Milan will assess the future of Ronaldinho in the summer following the Brazilian's dip in form.

He added: "We will see at the end of the season. I still think he's a good investment."

here we go again

Posted by: Zed.D May 19 2009, 07:31 AM

I wouldn't mind him because I don't see us going for a better striker anyway. we'll probably end up with Toni.

Arsenal will rip us off? that's the management's problem!

Posted by: dst May 19 2009, 10:18 AM

I wish it's just a cover up and we're planning something else.

Posted by: Kaka Is Brilliant May 20 2009, 05:24 AM

Seriously, this guy is not an answer.

I know he scores a lot but Arsenal create sooo many chances and the % of what he misses in games is just laughable, he really is not clinical.

Posted by: han2503 May 20 2009, 03:39 PM

It's either him or someone like Drogba/Toni

Consdering the age of the other 2 and there unpredictable form. I'd rather have Adebayour. I think there are better players out there but I don't see us going for anything better.

Plus I think he and Pato could work well together

I honestly believe if we can keep him happy Drogba would be a better signing compared to Adebayor.

Considering his age, I believe it would be a waste of money to buy him. And we can't always keep him happy, especially if he doesn't perform well for some reason or another

After what happened immediately following Chelsea-Barcelona, I'm suprrised anyone would actually consider wanting Didier Drogba at Milan. His behavior was beyond shameful.

I agree about Toni but not Drogba. I think he could do better than Adebayor, despite his age.

Yeah kind of. he also received a big ban, didn't he?

Posted by: Tennie May 20 2009, 04:22 PM

I don't think it's been decided yet but he could get a long suspension, yep.

Agreed. He's a treath to both the changing room environment and the club's public image. If I were the club directors I wouldn't even touch him with a 10 foot pole

Yeah, if we could keep him happy and all that. If he's not, not only will he play badly but cause internal problems for the team.

I just don't like the idea of getting him now. I think we should have gotten him when we sold Chelsea Sheva as part of the deal (when he still was not considered a big player there), I think now it's too late to spend money and waste the effort on him

Posted by: I_Rossoneri May 20 2009, 11:12 PM

I cannot believe we're actually going for the useless Adebayor? Certainly goes to show how low our expectations are!

Posted by: dst May 20 2009, 11:16 PM

He's very good tactically and that's my guess on why we're after him but other than that I don't think he's a special player... I would not give more than 15m for him while it does not seem like we're getting him for any less than 25m!

I still think (wish) this is all just a decoy. And of course I also hope our real target is better... biggrin.gif

I think, I'm gonna be sick.

Posted by: rip May 21 2009, 06:04 AM

Seriously not Adebayor. he is not up to the standards of Milan (im not talkin abt age here tongue.gif ).

We would be better off with waiting for Boriello to recover. The fact that most Arsenal fans are trying get rid of him should give us a hint wink.gif

Sadly, I wouldn't pin our hopes on that, either. He didn't do much whenever he was healthy.

Posted by: nuh May 21 2009, 09:51 AM

i think this season we need 3 major signings 1 leftback i am not sure who is the rht man for that
2. SANTACROCE will be ideal for me i love the guy he is good
3. would be a striker, i would love us to sign millito but he is a intermilan player now
these would be my first signings then the i would sign some young defenders
then we should sell seedorf and bring in Gourcuff and we should look to put cardacio (dunno if we spell his name like that) on the bench and develop him in to a good player and bring back beckham

Posted by: pacang May 21 2009, 02:08 PM

hope this is not true.. milan simply deserve better.. that's all..

Posted by: Zed.D May 21 2009, 02:53 PM

Why not Benzema? they say Adebayor costs between 25 to 30 million, we can end up signing Benzema instead with that money.

Posted by: TriniKing_CE May 21 2009, 11:51 PM

I will be sooooo upset if Milan sign that overrated man.
He is not Milan quality!

25-30 Mil for Adebayor, jeez, you must be kidding me>!?!

Since when money lost its value!!!?

Is he good I mean I know the name, but from people who watch the French League often is he actually that good or is he another Freddy Adu?

Posted by: Fillipo Simone May 25 2009, 08:18 PM

He really is that good but I don't like his character. Arrogant and cocky; could be the next Ruud some day.

I don't think he's the most amazing young striker in the world but he's really really good!

Posted by: kurtsimonw May 25 2009, 10:22 PM

Benzema does look top class, I don't see much of him, just CL + French highlights, but he does look very impressive. Just can't see us signing him though.

Posted by: MizNelson May 25 2009, 10:31 PM

If we cough up that much for Adebayor, we're the biggest suckers out there.

Posted by: il_diavolo_mtl May 25 2009, 10:31 PM

Personally if Rijkaard does come i expect a variation of the 4-3-3 (4-2-1-3 and what better winger combo then Pato-G. Rossi with pippo/borielloin the middle suported by Kaka with Pirlo/gattuso in more of a holding midfield role with
Zambrotta/Bruno alves - Nesta - Tiaguninho - Flamini as the back line, tell me this doesn't do it for you smile.gif

QUOTE
Emmanuel Adebayor has insisted he is happy at Arsenal and is growing tired of speculation about his future.

The Togo international has been linked with a move away from Emirates Stadium and the likes of AC Milan, Chelsea and Manchester City are all reportedly interested.

Adebayor admits it is flattering to be connected with Milan but he has no intention of leaving the Gunners.

He said: "All I can say is I am a footballer and if a club like Milan are interested in me then I cannot lie to you, I am happy, because it is Milan.

"But the thing is that it stops there - I am very happy playing for Arsenal, and this is what I always say.

"At the end of the day you just get bored of this - people read these things and then the fans will boo you for what you never said, but again I repeat that I am very happy here.

"I have got nothing to say to anybody. People are always there to judge - but they are not on the pitch, they are writing what they want to.

"This season I have given 100 per cent of what I have, and I'm looking forward to coming back next season and trying to achieve things.

"I don't care what we have to do to win something - we have got to do whatever it takes to bring trophies home."
Pressure

Adebayor maintains that he should not be criticised for his performances during an injury-plagued season, when he has failed to hit the heights of last term.

"When you score 30 goals in a season you can expect that the following year there will be a little bit more pressure and attention on you," Adebayor told the June issue of the official Arsenal magazine.

"If you want to be a big player you have to manage this and find a solution - that is what I have been trying to do this time.

"I cannot say I'm very proud of my season, but I'm not too upset about how the way things have gone either. I have been injured several times since August, and before this I had never had an injury of longer than a week or two in my professional career."

Posted by: TriniKing_CE May 27 2009, 01:26 PM

Once he stays away from Milan, I couldn't give a **** what became of him!
...going on what the reports were saying, certainly not on what I value him at - we would be 25-30mil richer

And not to mention, the best part, we would be Adebayor-Less - YAY! yahoo.gif thumbup.gif

Adebayor granted work permit

Gunners front-man edges ever closer to Eastlands

Emmanuel Adebayor's move to Manchester City looks to be edging ever closer with the news he has been granted a work permit.

The Arsenal striker attended a hearing in Manchester on Tuesday and Sky Sports News sources can now reveal there have been no complications with what is a routine process.

A remarkable week at Eastlands which has seen City snare Carlos Tevez from neighbours Manchester United and reignite interest in Chelsea and England captain John Terry, could be concluded with the acquisition of Adebayor.

It is thought a fee in the region of £20-25million is close to being agreed between the two clubs, with the player ready to quit Emirates for a move north.

Having already landed Gareth Barry, Tevez and Roque Santa Cruz it is City that are certainly edging ahead in the transfer stakes this summer.

Arsenal have yet to pass official comment on the current speculation

I thought he said he wasn't leaving. Oh.. that's before he realised he wanted to leave a Champions League team for more money, I see.

Besides the Tevez signing, Man City are starting to look pretty good..

To be fair they do have Given, Richards, Dunne, Bridge, Kompany, De Jong, Barry who are all good in the defensive side of the game. Zabaletta and Onuoha aren't exactly terrible either. I'm worried for our top 6 place. sad.gif

I think you'll still get 5th

City might be buying like crazy but who's to say that this will actually work? And I don't really think they have the right coach to do what they're trying to do

not 5th = 6th _

i like villa and there a decent side but the loss of barry isnt a small one and with man city spending like maniacs esp on the forward line which is what they have lacked in the past few seasons i.e corradi _ bianchi _ benjani _ bellami _ bojinov the list goes on i feel that this time they can hijack arsenals 4th spot easily

so

Man City = 4th
Arsenal = 5th
Villa = 6th

the way i see it

Posted by: Kaka Is Brilliant Jul 16 2009, 12:18 AM

Yeah Man City have a strong squad now and I think the spendings far from over.

I think they will be in the Champions League spot come the end of the season.

Posted by: Jack Sparrow Jul 16 2009, 06:15 AM

I can't help it. I like Hughes. I hope he does well. But I'm not a fan of any of the players they've purchased so far.
