QUOTE (William405 @ Sep 30 2023, 09:06 PM) I have to say I couldn't have imagined a more positive start. Specially with how the new players have settled. Musah had enormous potential. We are missing the striker, but I think that we will be getting David from Lille.
**** inter just scored. Meh, they were bound to win this. The only decent team they've faced so far is us and a knackered Fiorentina who had to play a conference game midweek and had just lost Amrabat. We folded like cheap hookers. But I think other top sides will give them a run for their money We have both Rome clubs out of the way, 2 tricky mid-table teams in Bologna and Torino and them out of the way. If we get through the Juve game with flying colours I'll really start to believe we can do somthing |

Btw @OptaPaolo: 6 AC Milan have won six of their opening seven games of a Serie A season for the third time in the three points for a win era (since 1994/95), after 2003/04 and 2021/22 campaigns. Both times we went on to win the title. Just sayin... (IMG: style_emoticons/default/innocentsmily.gif) |

QUOTE (CrazyMilanFan @ Sep 30 2023, 07:07 PM) The derby result was really so strange we are not that bad.. anyways i believe UCL next vital to get three points We simply gave up after their 3rd went in. Everyone threw in the towel. The scoreline was inflated because of that |

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Sep 30 2023, 07:03 PM) Tomori and Reijnders absolutely immense today. World class performances.
Leao with a good second half. Still sloppy but the guy has the acceleration that makes the difference. Also good awareness in those two assists.
Pulisic and Musah also very good.
Giroud by far the worst player on the pitch. We literally play with 10 men when he's on. Give the starting spot to Okafor already.
Great start to the season, 6 wins in 7 games (disastrous derby aside). I think we thought we could extract another year out of Giroud, but he seems to be struggling. Granted, his struggles started after the NT break when he got that injury. He has not looked sharp since then. The thing with Okafor is that he's not a striker. And he cannot give us the hold up play we need, especially against the bigger sides. Missing out on Taremi could prove to be costly. As for our season in general. Looking at the starting 10 fixtures, I was of the thinking that it was either going to be great or terrible. No in-between. Of course, since Pioli took over we've always been strong at the start of the season. But considering that we've had the toughest fixture list out of all the top sides. I think it is great what we've done so far. Of course that derby loss will continue to be a huge blemish, no matter what happens throughout the rest of the season. |

Btw, tell me again Danny how Kjaer is the best option for that 2nd CB spot
He's been turned inside out 3 times already this game.
He just does not have the agility or speed to play at this level. I do not understand why Pioli started him here and not against Cagliari. Just stupid |

QUOTE (William405 @ Sep 29 2023, 01:33 AM) I think that doesn't matter. What matters is which side is most consistent and has the best depth. I think it's us, but I might be bias. For a one off game, I would probably say I think they are more capable, they have some experienced players in there team. Let's not forget we beat Napoli 4-1 in their historic season. The confrontations between the big sides can always go one way or the other imo. I agree with you there, in the sense that when we won the Scudetto they were the better side as will imo. But we were better in the direct match-ups with the top 6. In the end that is what decided the title. QUOTE (X-Offender @ Sep 30 2023, 09:12 AM) Inter, again, by far. They have massive depth. And their system hasn't changed from last year which makes them very consistent in their playing style.
We've changed a lot this summer. Players, formation, style etc. Many new players are still a question mark. Pioli is a big issue as well. This doesn't mean we cannot challenge for the title, but Inter are the clear favourites for the final win. Then anything can happen, of course. Agreed. But Inter are not known as Pazza Inter without earning that name. If things start going sideways they do tend to lose their heads. We'll see. I really do think that it is their year though. Which pisses me off as they'll get that 2nd star before us when they should be no where near 19 at this point considering they cheated their way to 5 of those titles. One of which was assigned on paper. QUOTE (Danny @ Sep 30 2023, 11:36 AM) Table doesn't agree with you. Neither do Real Sociedad. Neither do Empoli. I don't quite agree with William, but I would say that Serie A remains weak and there's basically about 4 or 5 teams more less on level pegging at the top. I think basing that off of 3 games is a bit of a stretch. I agree that the hype has been over the top and they have mistakes and bad games in them. It's just a matter of whether or not we can stay as consistent as possible so our direct match up won't matter as much. As for the league as a whole. I think it's much better than most give it credit for. Sure the marketing is terrible and the presentation is even worse. But the quality is there imo. Serie A sides occupying all 3 European finals last season is a testament to this. And going by how all 3 sides played, all should have arguably won their games imo. QUOTE (X-Offender @ Sep 30 2023, 11:54 AM) 5-1 against us agrees with me. Five wins in a row against us agrees with me. 12 goals scored v 1 conceded against us in those games agrees with me. CL finalists last year against City (where they were the better team) agrees with me. Finished above us last season agrees with me. Top of the table right now also agrees with me, because if the league ended now they'd win it based on goal difference and head-to-head.
Your argument based on only two games holds no water, when there is a plethora of other reasons why they're the best side in Italy. Our weakness against them is a direct correlation to how the coach sets the team up imo. We've shown we can go toe to toe with them and win. But since the turn of the year. Pioli swallows a dumb pill each time we have to play them QUOTE (X-Offender @ Sep 30 2023, 05:50 PM) Between Giroud being completely useless and Leao having one of his many, many, many negative nights, our attack really has no bite. Only Pulisic has been trying.
Also, what's with Theo and his shitty passes today? It's as if he's forgotten how to kick a ball.
Lazio are really subpar against us, as usual. We cannot let this game go without the 3 points. Theo has been worrying for a while now. Just doesn't look sharp. Should be ahead here. We just need to keep at it. I'd switch out Giroud for Okafor. |

QUOTE (Danny @ Sep 28 2023, 02:40 PM) Think folks can maybe now see why I didn't rate Inter much. One win in three matches against a pretty poor side, they're just not that good. We had an ugly off night against them (Tomori loss a big deal), pity we're also not that good haha. I wouldn't call 5 consecutive losses against them an off night. It's obviously a bad matchup for us they hit all our weak points and Pioli plays into them I don't expect them to be perfect, but for me, they are the most complete side in the league, taking the bench into account as well. |

QUOTE (CrazyMilanFan @ Sep 27 2023, 09:12 PM) Leao and oshiman would be wow I could cry! But will never happen sadly QUOTE (CrazyMilanFan @ Sep 27 2023, 09:13 PM) Sassuolo winning 2-1 against inter Yes!! Great for us. Back to the top. We have Lazio at the weekend. I am expecting a win. Inter so far have had by far the easier fixture list We obviously cannot beat them but if they slip up enough I think we can put up a fight for this title. |

QUOTE (CrazyMilanFan @ Sep 27 2023, 07:27 PM) Btw oshiman Vs Napoli is quite massive he is expected to leave i believe Probably. Imagine, if we could afford a player like that. Instant title favorites with him upfront. Unfortunately, he'll go to the EPL and have to droll it our for Chelsea or United. |

Nandez should have been off the pitch for that deliberate elbow hit to the back of Musah's neck btw.
Job done. Onward to Lazio on Saturday
Even though there are still question marks for me with the way we're playing. I really thought we'd start the season struggling. 6 games in, 5 wins. Not too shabby. The Inter game is such a dark spot though, still can't get over it. |

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Sep 27 2023, 06:36 PM) Adli is a walking disaster in that role. Agreed on that. Would prefer him on either side of the midfield to replace Tijjani. Not signing a DM is really going to bit us big time man! |

Btw, if this was last season we would still be at 1-0
The quality added in the summer is going to be the difference between us and teams like this. Even without Leao and Giroud
We're still playing the slow sterile way we saw last season against sides like this, but the quality was the difference.
I do not understand though how we started the season looking so creative and had much more movement. And now we've reverted back to the BS we saw last season |
